Maybe converting the image from 8bit to 16bit or 32bit, before rescaling, and also using NoHelo for Interpolation, instead of Bicubic, can give you much better results in the GIMP.

Now this is a MUCH MORE HONEST AND BETTER TIP than the video regardless if it works.

@@GIMPTUT I do use Topaz products pal, however, I suggest you read what many others are also saying about you plugging Topaz Labs lately.
For example in your video "Don't Use GIMP To Upscale Your Images, Use This Instead"
      Whatchu anti gimp now? 🤔
Why are you posting what I feel are anti-gimp video's on a Gimp tutorial channel? I know that Gimp can't do everything but the whole reason that I use Gimp is because it is opensource and free. I'm not saying you can't or shouldn't post video's for software like the one you mention in this and the last few video's, but If that is the direction you want to go please either rename your channel or perhaps make a new one. I personally found the way you presented your last several video's a bit insulting to us Gimp users. I don't know how others feel and don't usually post negative posts, but I just wanted to share how I feel.
I do appreciate the actual tutorials that you have made in the past for using Gimp. I have found them very helpful.

Why don't you propose free software such as the Darktable or RawTherapee?
You are using free Gimp to promote paid software... shame on you.

Thanks to your video, I exhausted my daily data of 2.5 GB at the beginning of the day itself trying to install this software (had no idea it'd be this big) and turns out it's not even free (don't think you mentioned it anywhere)!

by the way, gimp is not dead and by using your imagination you can get rather similar results with upscayl+gimp. if you want to know, i'll tell you. just reply to this comment.

I'd be interested in doing this in Gimp. this gigipixel is fine but it's not free, unlike Gimp and a lot of us don't do this for money, just fun so free is always a good price.

Yeah as stated I was looking for a good GIMP tutorial page but you seem to be using all kinds of other programs. I am just starting out back in photography again. I have a lower end camera due to my budget not letting me buy all the fancy stuff out there. My camera I use is a Cannon SX 20 IS that I picked up second hand for 95 dollars Canadian. Your pages focal point really does not focus on Gimp as much as it should so I will go find another page to get tutorials from sorry.
