Square Enix are definitely past their glory days.
Maybe this breakaway could rekindle something in them
@@darkninja1732 Here's hoping.
This. It isn't Sony's fault, it is Square's for making crappy games. Mr. H needs to really look at things closely. Not really bad news for PlayStation since Sony won't be spending money on stinkers like Forspoken.
@@Hatchetforce Hopefully, as people have told me, Square Enix will be better in the future.
yeah maybe in some areas they have gone past their expiry date but if your into MMOs then FFXIV might be worth a try. the story is awesome (drags like dogs balls at the start tho) and then heavensward and shadowbringers kick off. stormblood was kinda meh too lol. the music isnt too bad as well. some of the primal fights have some of the best music to them.
If your games are shit it doesn't matter what platform they're on
200% agree!!!
Are most games shit? Survey says : YES
Why a Thrid Party publisher would limit themselves to one audience is baffling. Especially with their mainline FF franchise.
money in hand before the game even gets out, basically.
@@lasskinn474
That sounds sustainable in the long run……..
oh wait
@@mosesa.weaver3058 who cares when you got your bonus 3 years before the game comes out.
I'm serious there's been a bunch of games that have made 1-3 millionaires before the games have come out. the big publishers big bosses are complete dimwits, but it doesn't matter to them too because they get enough money in a year to never work again in their life and every year just gets one more generation of their offspring to that status. the investors and the boards are the real suckers.
Previously is how each on the console war would get an edge. If Halo and Gears had always been on Playstation, Xbox wouldn't exist anymore.
If multi platform = more profit then explain Suicide Squad? Or even Fallout 76 which flopped upon release. Then you have games like Animal Crossing on the Switch which sold 45 million units in its lifetime.
X-Box is limping along on it's last legs due to bad management.
Are you sure? Didn't they just buy one of the best publishers in gaming? Activision Blizzard King?
@@stripedrajang3571and they literally just fired and closed a bunch of studios. You’re clearly not been following along recently
@TheSymbiot3Venom , I have been following. Sure, Microsoft closed down some studios and laid of some people, but after spending 70 billion dollars, anyone would've done that. It still doesn't take away the fact that Microsoft bought Activision Blizzard King, one of the best publishers in gaming, in order to revolutionize the gaming industry in the next few years, and dethrone Sony and Nintendo, right?
Meh ill still choose PlayStation over Xbox
@@williamsaofai4025, fair enough. I'm still sticking with Nintendo myself.
The PC version of that FF7 remake had _two_ graphics options.
John Bain would be spinning in his grave.
God I miss that guy
I miss him and the coopional podcast. I liked his views on gaming. He died way way way too young.
Their I.P. exclusivity back in the day was one of core factors that made PlayStation the console of choice!... ( Interested to see how this develops... )
well. back in the 90s when it was n64 vs. ps1 the exclusivity was more organic. you just couldn't make those games on n64. you could on pc of course and pc had the best ff7
Maybe this will mean i can play some more Final Fantasy abd KH games on my Switch now.
Switch 2
I love how Square Enix leaves out all the money they wasted on nfts in the last 2 years.
Some of these companies are finna wake up and finally realize that console exclusivity is hurting their company and sales😂
Blame soyny.
Thier policy of paying companies to stay of xbox was a huge blow to the industry.
Turns out cutting off the two other consoles was a bad business decision.
@@ardendragoon Xbox is dead. Looks like it worked out for "Soyny"... they could kill Steam too if their eye of sauron glanced its direction.
Is that what happened to Nintendo? Exclusives can make record breaking sales but a mediocre game isn’t going to drive sales no matter what familiar name you slap on it.
The whole exclusive thing never made sense, it's kinda like saying were putting the new Mad Max Movies in Cineplex but not Landmark. It was self defeating.
I wanted stellar blade really bad but only can afford a xbox sooooo yeah
The losses are their own fault, not Sony's.
Square were silly to expect huge numbers for FF7 part 2 when not many own a PS5, putting it on PC will be the best thing for them.
Yeah, i gave up on sony im sticking 2 pc
What the F?
don't insult your customers!
if you do you won't have any customers.
One thing Square is notorious for is setting extremely high sales expectations, and even if their games sell really well they still consider them flops because for a very long time they have wanted to do GTA numbers and pretty much never will, FF7 Rebirth has done extremely well but Square still thinks it's a flop.
the only trouble with Pc's is there's no guarantee the game will playable in many years to come. With a console the hardware remains the same. Granted you may want to get a backup console or two as well in case they die but pc's although better have always been iffy knowing if you can play a game say 15 years or more from when you first got it because the changes over time to the system's software and hardware
I bought an Alienware gaming laptop earlier this year and I haven't touched Mt xbox or Playstation since. 🤷🏿♂️
I understand the draw of PC gaming, having the ability to build insane rigs. But I'm just not interested in having to worry about if a game has issues with certain graphics cards, adding RAM if a new game needs 128GB versus past games that only needed 64Gb, etc. At least with a console, you know every game you buy is already optimized to work with the hardware.
Square-Enix keeps expecting PS4 sales numbers on a PS5 install base less than half the size, rather than following the numbers to other/multi platforms.
I always believed the console exclusives was a stupid idea. FOR BOTH CONSOLES.
i just hope future final fantasy games going forward will still be able to cast other types of actors and not be limited to anime dub actors like most JRPG's
It’s not about going multi platform because there’s several IPs that are successful in their own right. However it’s SquareEnix’s MCU-like development budget and their devastating loss from their failed games like Avengers and Forspoken.
I remember being blown away seeing the opening for ff 7 on the ps1 at my mates house went out and saved to buy a ps1
Always PC first, for ever and eternally PC first, ..it always was the best medium for playing games, ...in my view, ...anyways, ...just check out and bare witness to how much more powerful at an affordable or reasonable cost of purchasing and maintaining or for the maintenance of them (the PCs), ...PCs are or {at the very least, how they [(and again), the PCs]} have become; ...for an overall good cost/price to quality ratio, ...the acquiring or acquisition of a PC is.
Serves. Sony. Right.
Don`t blame SONY blame the Playstation fanboys who didn`t go out and buy their games.
A lot of bad Sony decisions also affect who buys the console and keep buying the games.
@@1969Makaveli HAHAHA yup
Haven't been a PlayStation player since the early 00s when I had a PS1, even then I only got that because my family were massive Disney fan boys which meant we had all those awful Disney tie-in games and little else.
Pc is where it's always been at, had a shareware subscription throughout the 90s where we were given floppy discs to the likes of Wolfenstein, doom, heretic, duke nukem and quake among many others
I wanted to play the Final Fantasy 7 remake, but that that was a PS4 exclusive I ended up just watching a play through on RUclips before It got ruined by spoilers anyway. I never ended up buying it myself when It finally released on PC. If it released on PC the same day as console would've 100% picked it up.
I have no room for a Gaming PC Tower & stuff but a Valve Steamdeck OLED yes. In the future a Steamdeck & Nintendo Switch and their sequels will be all I need since Xbox most likely will go more multi platform with PlayStation sooner or later joining them permanently. I own a PS5 & Xbox Series X right now but after the various fiasco’s over the past few years including recent events I don’t see myself buying a PS6 or the next Xbox console unless they get into the Home/Handheld Hybrid market themselves like Nintendo & Valve then I’ll get curious again
Didn't Square Enix learn from giving Rise of the Tomb Raider limited exclusitivity to Xbox. That hurt them, the game would have sold well if they released multi platform from day 1.
It's just Friday on California.
Mr H, you spent loads on a pc. I spent 250 quid on my xbox, I only play a couple of hours a week so it's not worth paying any more, so if the console dies then I'll have stop playing😮
Sorry to tell you this but Xbox hasn't been worth playing for years! Bottom line Playstation is still king and VR's a good way to go.
Same, I’m not spending tons of money on a PC. I’ve been playing on PS consoles for years, I’m not spending $1000 for a gaming PC if the consoles die off.
@@Kiddism101 its also an investment. You do more on your PC than just gaming. At least that's how I see it.
@@Kiddism101 it's worth it. I speak as a systems builder with 20+ years of experience. Trust me. There is nothing like investing in a decent PC. Especially one you build yourself. It is incredibly rewarding. If you spend enough money it can last nearly ten years. One I built in 2011 was so good it lasted until 2023 - nothing could stop it.
@@watchmehope6560 true but for my case I rarely game I have a few hours on a weekend so it’s more convenient I guess for me and wouldn’t be worth that big of a investment for me. Plus I also watch a lot of RUclips or Blu-Rays through the system. It’s just more convenient for me.
Switch and PC are the only platforms worth owning.
Lol no
@@skurinski Lol yes
Hope third party studios can learn from this next time Sony approach for exclusivity deals
iv got a PS4 Game machine , but i rarely use it these days as most of my games i enjoyed were online co op games - which i couldn't play any longer has Sony forced you to pay a monthly fee , so nowadays i play all my games on my PC ( Steam account ) Steam who don't Charge you to play any online games !!! Sony will be releasing a popular game of there's on steam on May 16th which is both a rpg story and co op mode - Ghost of Tssushima - which i hope there wont be any issues with on its release- esp the co op mode !!!
Playstation might have Rough Years ahead without Squares Exclusive Games
No console is worth getting nowadays, even older ones. I know on PC you can get emulators and just pay bloody everything you ever wanted. Of course the only way to stop that is if the gaming companies really stamp them out, like what Nintendo has been trying to do. But there's just no need unless you feel nostalgic for the older systems.
I have FF7 on my PC and was hoping that they making all platforms.
Sony was always obsessed with region control so they could sell region targeted marketing.
On DVD this was a massively laughable failure, the only example I can recall before they killed it was the Sly film Demolition Man where they superimposed Pizza Hut over Taco bell in region 4 locations and it was rough as guts and the voice sounded nothing like Sandra bullock. If you can find the R4 version it's an hilarious fuckup!
And there is also cloud gaming, also superior to a console if you have a decent internet connection.
I have a PS4, good games there. I have a Switch, very convenient console to just play a couple of minutes+suspend+pick up again later when I get 5 more minutes, or over dinner. I play more Switch because I have less continuous time to pour and many great games available there as well. I don't plan on getting a PS5 unless it's steep cheap and games are as well. I also have a PC but seldom play games there anymore, reasons stated before.
I own a PC for gaming. Nothing fancy but I'm not shooting for top frames per second. I also recently purchased a PS5 because sometimes I wanna sink into a beanbag chair and play games on a giant screen. I just wish there were more good games on consoles... and an easier way to use a mouse and keyboard.
I'm admittedly and rather ashamed to admit despite primarily being a PC systems builder (shameless plug - if anyone wants a premium gaming PC and you live in the UK) - a lover of all consoles. I had the PS2, GameCube and Xbox.... then the Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3... next the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (skipped the Wii U) and now the Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. I was considering the PS5 Pro as I have done mid-cycle consoles in the past, but with the latest situation surrounding Xbox and PlayStation I am actually considering not doing them anymore. I am thinking about the Nintendo Switch 2 and maybe the next SteamDeck. Sony and Microsoft have both completely zapped any interest I once had in their respective platforms - amazing to think how the current situation can actually radically change the outcome going forward.
Dude, watch the trailer for 'Megalopolis' . It's a sci-fi done by the director of the Godfather trilogy. Looks bat shit crazy and bloody decent. Cinema worthy for sure
I've switched sides from xbox 360 to the playstation because of Demon Souls. Back then microsoft was trying to force stuff like having a constant online connection for games, drm etc. Its funny to see the current state of Sony. The 2 year ps5 launch was horrible, exclusive games are mediocre and the ps online subscription is the worst.
Since sony hates their fans and making money, lets hope Microsoft buys ip's like Bloodborne, so we can finally get that remaster that everybody wants
I love PlayStation 5 Xbox series S and Nintendo switch lite and it’s good for gamers to play FF Games on all platforms
I'm a pc gamer and I usually wont buy games that years later stop being exclusive because... well... everything was already spoiled online by others, explored, torn down, made videos... the graphics are outdated the mechanics are outdated... the hype is dead... its a shame because if they were released on pc at the date things would have been very different i could really get excited with some games i couldn't play.
Also unrelated but i think its curious... today i just read a news somewhere stating that ps5 has sold as much as ps4 in the same period of time... for me sounds like the people who are buying ps5 are more or less the same as the ones that bought the ps4.
Their guardians of the galaxy game is pretty good.
There is one area where consoles have had a big advantage over PC and that is not as many cheaters on some games, both Elden Ring/DS3 and FIFA where infested with cheaters. So I got a PS5 and never ran into one. I still have PC and much prefer it but not for those games.
I’m a console guy because I like playing games on my TV. I don’t understand why any console game couldn’t be released on a PC though. I’ve always hated exclusives.
FF16 had great gfx but repetitive gameplay. Ff remake is great but not got everyone.
Shitty woke games is killing square not exclusivity
Exclusivity does suck
Funny part is your completely incorrect there as square enix admitted there self's 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
They should of just put it on steam like most of Sony games are now anyway ☕️
@@stevenbishop1782 remembering the days when nothing was exclusive. You had the same game on different consoles, well depending on the consoles limitations.. Fuck I miss my Sega megadrive..
Woke + exclusivity = death of a company
Have to agreed I want to play ff7 rebirth and am waiting for pc release as I did with remake. I also wish to play kingdom hearts 3 I waited for that to some to pc and they decided to go with epic store exclusive so am still waiting. It should be on steam
i wanted to buy FFXVI cause i play FFXIV and the director and music producer worked on both games together. i was thinking "this could be my reason to finally buy a PS5!!" then i saw the tiny print of the release saying it will come to PC SOONtm. and i was like "ill guess i will wait then and hope its a good port". ive been a sony fanboy for years but as of this gen i havent been due to them practically censoring everything im interested in LOL. that was the moment i was like "nah i wont reward them for this" and never bought one
😢I really wanted a PlayStation 6.5 Pro XLT Plus Ultra with Espresso making capabilities. Now, I will have to buy an ordinary Espresso Maker☕😭!
Consoles could update their hardware/software so many ways to compete better, but they won't. They just refuse. Because it's Tribal. PC Master Race, is a meme for a good reason.
As someone who owns every console and has a Gaming PC. My Graphics cost 1.5 times more then my ps5. I never understood why screaming PC master race was a good thing its like a rich kid in his daddy Ferrari racing a mustang And feeling better about yourself. I Hope the day never comes when consoles are gone.
@@simbanugz2906 because PC is better pretty simple
@@simbanugz2906 Because PC is modular. I don't have to buy an entirely new PC to be above specs to the latest Consoles. I can just replace the lacking components. Initial buy in is higher, over all performance long term is vastly cheaper. Consoles were always a scam with the Cheaper Buy In, Game Exclusives and FOMO Psychology. Companies made it Tribal with the 'Console Wars'. That's a primary improvement Consoles 'could' make. Allow their Consoles to become Modular. But that would require an entire rethink of their business model.
Oh good, im waiting for rebirth pc port
One benefit to consoles is that it is harder to cheat as the software is locked down. This may be the saving grace for consoles in the age of AI.
i find it ridiculous they didnt release ff7 rebirth on ps4, i wont buy a ps5 until they are cheaper and have a bigger library, pc gaming still to expensive to be ahead of the game for top tier titles.
*Plays the worlds smallest violin for Sony* ..As a PS5 owner that converted to PC 🤣.
Here's hoping they're the first of many.
which means well get the game on pc pretty soon. And future final fantasy games from square enix,
We see a similar market segmentation with VR and it hurts everyone who's not Meta. They can absorb any losses with a hope to owning the whole space. Gamers lose.
Their problem is that when they released final fantasy 7 remake they released it on ps4 and ps5 I think pc too which is why it had done the numbers it did...they figured to make it for next gen systems and not everyone has ps5 or can afford an upgrade yet...and not for anything rebirth looks as if it can be played on ps4...there is money to be made with a release on all consoles they should see that.
Bought FF Rebirth and playing it on my PC's setup which has a 1440p HDR monitor. It looks like ass on performance mode, like someone smeared vaseline on the screen, disgraceful. Putting it into graphics mode looks better (still not great) but is borderline unplayable the framerate is so low. There was an article by Digital Foundry about it. Meanwhile games like Ghost of Tsushima and God of War Ragnorak look phenomenal and run at a solid 60fps. Long story short, kind of glad Square Enix lost money on this if that's the best they can do.
I'm glad they are ditching exclusive deals with Sony since I would have bought Rebirth day 1 on PC but a ton of bad decisions on Squeenix's part is destroying the company, not as much for exclusiveness but that works as a good excuse to shareholders for them.
I just want ff7 rebirth on ps4 and kingdom hearts on switch for real.
I didnt bought ff rebirth cause they censored ff 7 remake last minute
Would love to see a PC version (Not Emulation) or remaster of Parasite Eve 1 & 2
The smartest decision Square has made in quite a while.
I’m happy there are free from Sony they messed them up bad it’s was good and now not
I’m hoping this is a rebirth that brings back classic titles and helps them make the quality games they used to. Honestly, I’m a kingdom hearts geek, and I’d hate for them to go under because anyone who knows kingdom hearts knows that we are rabid for answers on the story.
No console exlusivity is not a bad thing. For people only having a PC or only one console, sure. But consoles need "system sellers". Usually, Sony would pay SE for their exclusivity and compensate them for any losses, because they did'nt release their game on all plattforms. That's a no-brainer. Btw, a console right now is about 350 to 400 bucks. What kind of PC do I get for that kind of money? I don't want to invest 2 to 3K into a pc to play games that are console ports anyway (and probably raises your electricity bill like crazy). And then you download your games off Steam and that's it. Physical copies for PC are dying out. I like to preserve my games.
Sure but are more companies going digital like you buy a game open up the box and there a paper digi code in it to DL a game off the net. Dont get me wrong i love game libraries it makes me feel nostalgic I love my Gamecube, PS1/PS2, PSP, Xbox360 titles they fill 3/4 of my room wall.
@@johnniewalker3134 Well if it was just a box with a DL code, I'd consider that digital. And I think the majority of cases are PC related anyways (e.g. Baldur's Gate 3 Deluxe Edition). Every game I want to have I can get the (real) physical copy of it on consoles.
Steam only gamer here. (Steam Deck) I haven't cared about Square games since PS2.
FF 7 remake part 1 was on PS5 and PS4, a console that sold over 100 million units and later came to PC ... FF7 part 2 and FF 16 were both exclusive to PS5 only, therefore they didn't sell well ... Publishers and developers are realizing the hard way exclusivity to one console is bullshit and costs them a lot of potential sales...
Even though there are a great many good games being produced to play, consoles are actually being aimed at lower age generations 13-25, the prices increase to milk profit from parents providing for their kids, event ya lot you can’t just afford the console and switch to PC.
If these companies can’t sort out game exclusivity or allow for cross platform games gamers will Rise up…. And get steam.
I mean the fact these $500 consoles don't even have games that utilise the hardware, is just proof the consoles are a huge waste of money. With dlss and other resolution scaling, a budget gaming pc can now keep pace with the newest consoles
3:39 BRUH SO FUCKING TRUE!! I tapped out after ps4. Hopefully the PC games will go up to their original standards
True... I had an Xbox 360... and was paying for live... but then my Xbox got the red ring...
Got a ps3...
But when ps4 came out they started charging for PSN...
So instead just saved up for a PC and never looked back...
That PC lasted me 14 years...
14 years of PSN or XBOX live would have been $1400 anyways... PLUS the cost of the console... so... I'm very happy lol
Just got a new one a few months ago... and my sister still uses the old one for school/work, just needed a new cooler which was like $80 lol
When has consoles ever been better than pc?
Im done buying new systems
These companies just dont wupport them the right way
Why do people say "if they come to pc" the pc is the only platform that gets most if not all squares games, it littlerly has more on the one system than any of the console's.
Not on launch day tho. By the time I find out they are on PC....it's usually when they are on sale...when I would've paid full price on day 1 😂
Just look at how well Capcom games have done without these exclusivity BS.
Imagine if someone made a console were you can slupgrade it as much as you want.
I get 7 remakes but have no idea why games like pixel remaster arent on xbox
When you chase graphics over substance, this is what happens. Nintendo realized this with the N64, sure they had great hardware, but they screwed up just about everything else.
The more money spent making something pretty, the less time you have to flesh out a good story or add a fascinating game mechanic.
🎉🎉yaaaay👏 👏 maybe we’ll get parasite eve games on other platforms than an emulator. Finally a developer that’s smartening up. I play on ALL platforms if the games are good. Series X|S, PS5, Switch and Gaming PC.
I think this is where console gamers and PC gamers split a bit. I never hear PC gamers talk about.....games. Story, gameplay. Just FPS, raytracing and graphics.I don't give a damn about any of that. I don't need 4k 500fps raytracing overdrive ultimate. I just want to experience the story lol. That's why I don't care about owning a gaming PC like that. And I love OWNING my games. I can play the 1.00 of Cyberpunk2077 or BB, and other things just cause. I don't have to worry about internet, or Steam going down, or losing access at any moment.
maybe not hang around just on "I bought the newest pc and i get 200fps but it should do 220 what is wrong" forums. if you buy from gog you can backup your games on whatever, they don't have drm, you truly own it and consoles are going less in that direction.
lots of pc games traditionally were way more story/lore focused than consoles, like fallout, baldurs gates and others while the console just had a watered down action versions of the games. ultima series console versions are just jokes. pc is where the modenr style
plus on a pc you can actually play a back catalog of 40 years of games. you can today go and buy a copy of fallout 1 that you own as files that you can put on a memory stick or burn to a dvd and play it forever. but more importantly if you wanted you could be playing it in 10 minutes for 10 bucks or a pirate copy for free. there's also thriving indie publishing of adventure games if all you really want is a story. pc is where the longer more meaty story kind of gameplay originates on originally, the older consoles were always hampered by their storage mediums and ram.
really a cheap or a hand-me-down pc is the ideal gaming platform for someone with very little money or no money.
You do know even if steam or internet goes down...
Steam has an offline mode where you can play anyways?
When Sony killed Japan Studio and went full western mode I lost interest, they are not the same company as PS1-3 days, I do have a PS4 and I probably wont buy a Sony console again, all you need is a PC and Nintendo machine, and all the retro consoles like a PS2 funny enough, you will be covered forever gaming wise.
Screw Sony. I'm glad Square is making this move.
U do know that FF will still be going on PlayStation right
@@reeceholmes7903 And...?
@@joshuellecastillo9648 I’m just saying when u said screw Sony when they will still be on PlayStation
@reeceholmes that's why Sony are removing all FF titles from psn subscription and you will only have access if you pay for because they want to cross platform. does reflect bad when Sony act lime this all of a sudden and I'm a PS fan since 97 with FF7 original was 16-17 then loved tekken but this is whack psn price up great content 35 games being taken off my man you can't ignore that fact!
Because square Enix want to be cross platforms .....
I would have bought ff16 on xbox if it was available i love ff15
PC vs. Consoles? For me, it's whatever you want that you know you will use. 😊
Paperweights otherwise.
Hopefully start seeing more on Geforce Now then, Xbox got into bed with Nvidia maybe playstation should have done when they had the chance.

interestingly this news comes right before the announcement of the new CEOS of sony, one of them Herman Hulst a super woke guy who's known for his hate for japanese games/devs
Yes brooooo
It wasn't Sony paying Square Enix for FF7R and FF16
The reason Square Enix did exclusive is because Xbox the money is just not there
Switch isn't powerful enough.
This being announced a year before Switch 2 comes out
Will mean Final Fantasy will release only on the Switch and PlayStation.
PC port will come a year later so it PC port isn't half baked on release.
all they had to do was to not spend more money on the games than they got from sony.
oh, the humiliation on Sony.
Makes me wonder if theyll put final fantasy 7 remake on xbox now, because i mostly play on xbox, but i own a ps5 to play the console exclusive games. It's annoying af.
At this point I doubt it personally because it’s already so far in development & they’ve geared this series to be exclusive to the PS5/PS5 Pro. Square said that having this series be a PS5 Exclusive helped out a lot with the Development & Scale of the game. The things they Accomplished in Rebirth are breathtaking.
They wouldn't make much money on Xbox considering the position they're in right now. Don't bet on it.
