This is the first kdrama where i cried in episode 1 and i supported kim seon ho but at the end of episode 2 i knew the things were turning at another direction and also came to know how things would become. Even though i really love and want to watch this drama i an unable to watch it because my heart can't take the heart break😢.
the way this comment is so true-- now that we're aware of how good seon ho as an actor, it's really a sin to cast him as the 2nd lead, he'll outshine the main ones and yet get little credit.
I’m disappointed with the story line coz Dalmi never dated or liked anyone coz she was in love with the letters & Do san Bt when the truth was revealed she didn’t do justice to the person who wrote the letter infact loved Do San who was not even related to it after time change it’s still a same infact there was was an increase in Mr Han’s character he didn’t understood his feelings then loved her , after truth still helped & protected her & wen Do San left he still tried for her & at last made his feelings understand & moved on Dalmi & Do San character was very immatur character
I can't go back and watch this drama. As much as I like Suzy, this drama felt like I was forced to like the main led over the 2nd lead guy. Didn't even matter how much the main lead did. Never connected with him. Never built a solid relationship with the main girl lead. It was always and felt fabricated. No strong grounds. While the 2nd lead you got to understand where is it in life because what he went through. He deserves a loving person and loving family. Yes I finished it but with a bad taste in my mouth. The same writers and producers of While You Were Sleeping too and they did not do justice here. Ball was dropped in my opinion.

The k-drama has an original storyline, the character of Do-san appears in a second moment and this isn't normal, also he wasn't the perfect and proud leader and that was even more extreme. For me, that change was very gratifying, the scriptwriter challenged my imagination and I loved it. The hardest thing about the #StartUp drama was seeing how many people criticized the leading couple because they didn't agree with the script, with a lack of common sense, forgetting the rest of the actors who did an excellent job.

I started watching the drama for business aspect, but got some trashy love story with two ungrateful main leads. I had expected romance to be a factor but after ep 8 or 9 it derailed from that aspect and became solely a love drama. A 27 years old smashing things in anger and punching people isn't exactly an inspiration. If this drama is teaching people that it's okay to hit someone because they said harsh words to your loved one when your friend was the one who demanded the truth, and it doesn't matter if you go into a professional environment and break someone's property because you were angry, then this drama is a disappointment. But then again, these are just my views you don't have to agree with it. I'm just saying that people aren't not liking the show unnecessarily. The drama is poorly written and as a person whose seen at least more than 100 drama, I'd like to say that this is an average one, not too bad not too good.

Where I feel it lacked a lot of was the character development. Dosan we didn't get a solid development from him even after the time skip. We got the reveal he cheated to and won the award and felt guilty about it. That was a step in the right direction. But there was not enough there for me to connect me with him. Same with Dalmi's character. It felt like she plateau and her main purpose was just to push the love line between the 2nd male lead and main male lead. Dalmi's sister had better character development and she was just there to push Dalmi's character. Again even after the time skip still not enough change. As a business owner it is almost expected for you to change and become a better person and develop yourself because you are not trying to sell your business idea. You are sell yourself. To me they didn't do a good enough job on the time skip character development. It still felt like they were still kids and not young adults to the least. I'm not asking for Dosan to be the perfect leader no. No one is. But what I do ask is a lot more growth and maturity after the time skip at least. He was still timid and still lacked confidence when meeting his 2nd male lead rival. At least put more of a show or fight. I get it. Everyone grows at a different pace and time but I expected them both to get over their past relationship and be more professional and mature about their flaws and mistakes of the past. That is why I said the writers and producers didn't do justice for the characters. For While You Were Sleeping, the writers and producers did and had each character a development and it literally had mini arcs in a 16 episode. It was every 3 or 4 episodes showed character changes and why. At least they 2 leads and the supporting casts too. A really good series. Bounces between 1 and 2 at the top.
You are wrong. If I recall, this story's main guy is actually Kim Seon Ho. Isn't he the first one in the opening scenes and how he was hustling as a student and what not? So he is the lead and he did a great job. Nam Joo Hyuk and Bae were just his supporting characters with Joo Hyuk as the 2nd support. Bae 1st support. As the story progresses it was balanced out. It felt like everyone was the lead. Some episodes it's Bae. Then it's her sister. Other episodes is more Joo Hyuk. So the director did a great job. Flawless actually. Best direction and story telling IMO.
I don't know if I want to watch the rest of the series now, only because I feel like a lot of people either glossed over the first episode or didn't pay it any mind. But it's like people forgot about all the losses and hardships she suffered. I think those letters not only represented hope, trust, (and maybe even love) for her but also a sense of togetherness. She spent a lot of time (outside of her grandma) being alone or working. She didn't get friends up until a certain point and even then they couldn't make up for the loneliness she probably still felt due to her mom, sister, and dad. IDK, but I do appreciate people kind of feeling out the rest of the series for me in the comments. Cause there were times when I was sad,. angry, and upset. So I don't want to watch it anymore.

Dolmi have worked with Dosan almost a year everyday as CEO and be a couple. when you have physical contact in real life. there is hormone come out which make your emotion is more powerful. JP relationship with Dolmi is so unclear, this make Dolme uncomfortable. She mentions many time Dosan make her comfort. JP family background make him the way he is, therefore, relationship between Dolme and JP is not feather after 3 years. and if you think carefully, Dolmi have love insecure problem also but not as bad as JP. and because she lack education and experience problem making her pick Dosan. Dosan has clear relationship. no care whatever it takes. Dosan is hand who make everything possible to success on her own way not a backup plan that Dolmi do not need because it is going to be as same as her sister. JP never have chance from the begin. Dosan become wing, trophy, comfort who take to her goal as love slave. You can see her reaction when Dosan stand for Dolmi without thinking in the front of her rude step father. that event push her kiss later because how powerful moment she get. This show made me move on from Nam Joo Hyuk hahah I watched it because of him but dropped the show on ep 5 coz I fell for Kim Seon-ho and knowing how painful it was for him being the 2nd lead coz ever since ep 1 I was rooting for him. I cried so much to that opening episode. HAHAHA but now, I've finally changed teams and I'm happy. 😂 My heart can finally move on from weight lifting fairy and the breakup between him and Lee sung Kyung my bebe loves too! 💓💓💓
Before i watched this drama i thought the second lead has very good chemistry with the fl that's why people were hyping the sl alot saying he loved her soo much but when i watch the drama I did not even once saw the chemistry between the Second lead amd FL...but I did fell in love with the storyline it was great❤...and I fell in love with the ML namjo hyuk...wow Dodal couple hve my heart ❤️...
Honestly ofc she would still choose dosan cause even though he’s not the guy form the letter she’s spend casual/intimate time with him. On the other hand the letter are the only things that she knows from han does not know basically nothing from him.

People really do be acting stupid just cuz they liked the 2nd lead more. No no, just cuz they liked the 2nd lead ACTOR more. Start-up is a drama about the hardships youngsters face to start a business and succeed. If Han Ji Pyeong was the main lead then it would have totally destroyed the purpose of the drama. Ji Pyeong is an already successful and experienced businessman. His character is more mature and he is like the one who leads Do San and Dal Mi. Do San and Dal Mi were young and new to the start-up world. Their only goal is to start a business and succeed in it. They are 2 people who share the same dream and they are each other's inspiration. If it was Ji Pyeong in the place of Do San, I don't think the drama would have worked the way it should. It would have been just Ji Pyeong using all his connections to make her succeed rather than she working hard by herself.... which is the point of the drama. And here I'm talking about the characters and not the actors. All the actors did a really good job portraying the characters given to them. Getting attached to the 2nd lead isn't a new thing in kdramas but just because you found the other actor more attractive doesn't mean that he can never be a 2nd lead. And especially for this drama I found people not only hating on the character Do San, but also the actor Nam Joo Hyuk for his looks. How petty can ya'll get.
I'm with you. I don't understand why people say Dosan's character development is bad. He has the most growth in his arc, overcame his lack of confident and insecurity, learnt to believe in himself. He is the Start-Up, from a humble beginning to becoming a unicorn. So what he's a soft guy who cries. Feel like toxic masculinity clouded people's judgement. Being sentimental only makes him a better person, is the reason why he persists on making NoonGil eventhough it's not a money making app.
No I don’t think so. Idk why people hate on actors but I don’t think people are dropping this drama just because they like the actor. They actually started off the drama showing the second lead as a potential male lead, they kind of build strong grounds for a relationship there. So most of the viewers would already like them more. Plus, it’s not just that. I felt like she just liked Do San for what she thought he was, not HIM. Maybe later on she likes him but at least for most of the drama, she’s just in love with Han Ji Pyeong, just that the face differed
As someone who has never watched the 2 male actors the writing just doesn't make sense. The first part was great, but where it goes wrong is the 3 year time skip. If you like a girl enough to get your ass beat in a fist fight there is NO WAY you wouldnt make a move on her in 3 years. Ji Pyeong already said he liked her, there is NO WAY he didnt get a) dumped or b) be bf/gf with Dal Mi. Are we supposed to believe that a guy of Ji Pyeong's caliber would not make a move girl he likes in that time frame and vice versa (remember Dal Mi always approached him first and he called her "nosy") and we're supposed to believe that nothing happened in 3 years with both of them? No no no thats just bad writing. THAT just made it 10 times easier for "fans" of Ji Pyeong to conclude that the show was bad and they arent wrong, the last part was bad writing.

Horrible movie no chemistry between her and the other love interest. It was like watching an adult with a child!their whole relationship felt forced! The so called climatic kiss in episode side was less than stellar and i have see a dog kisses better. I had to stop watching it and I’m glad i did when i read that’s who she ended up with and non Mr Han what a stupid ending.

We are forced to watch dosan being there 24/7 and weirdly on the right place and at the right moment when it comes to dalmi then dalmi was bragging about the letters her whole life then did nothing to even ask HJP the moment she learned the truth. Started out good with the HJP and halmeoni history then dalmi never even asked halmeoni about her relationship with HJP. 3 years passed it's so impossible nothing happened to dalmi and HJP. One scene said that HJP always gets invited to holidays to halmeoni place then there's 0 real confrontation about the two about the letters and everything. Meanwhile we are forced to watch dosan conveniently always on the right timing everytime

Honestly ofc she would still choose dosan cause even though he’s not the guy form the letter she’s spend casual/intimate time with him. On the other hand the letter are the only things that she knows from han does not know basically nothing from him.

Everything seems so comfy when it comes to dosan the timing and everything, reason why a lot of people thinks it's forced

Start-up is a drama about the hardships youngsters face to start a business and succeed. If Han Ji Pyeong was the main lead then it would have totally destroyed the purpose of the drama. Ji Pyeong is an already successful and experienced businessman. His character is more mature and he is like the one who leads Do San and Dal Mi. Do San and Dal Mi were young and new to the start-up world. Their only goal is to start a business and succeed in it. They are 2 people who share the same dream and they are each other's inspiration. If it was Ji Pyeong in the place of Do San, I don't think the drama would have worked the way it should. It would have been just Ji Pyeong using all his connections to make her succeed rather than she working hard by herself.... which is the point of the drama. And here I'm talking about the characters and not the actors. All the actors did a really good job portraying the characters given to them.
Getting attached to the 2nd lead isn't a new thing in kdramas but just because you found the other actor more attractive doesn't mean that he can never be a 2nd lead. And especially for this drama I found people not only hating on the character Do San, but also the actor Nam Joo Hyuk for his looks. How petty can ya'll get.
I'm with you. I don't understand why people say Dosan's character development is bad. He has the most growth in his arc, overcame his lack of confident and insecurity, learnt to believe in himself. He is the Start-Up, from a humble beginning to becoming a unicorn. So what he's a soft guy who cries. Feel like toxic masculinity clouded people's judgement. Being sentimental only makes him a better person, is the reason why he persists on making NoonGil eventhough it's not a money making app.

No I don’t think so. Idk why people hate on actors but I don’t think people are dropping this drama just because they like the actor. They actually started off the drama showing the second lead as a potential male lead, they kind of build strong grounds for a relationship there. So most of the viewers would already like them more. Plus, it’s not just that. I felt like she just liked Do San for what she thought he was, not HIM. Maybe later on she likes him but at least for most of the drama, she’s just in love with Han Ji Pyeong, just that the face differed
As someone who has never watched the 2 male actors the writing just doesn't make sense. The first part was great, but where it goes wrong is the 3 year time skip. If you like a girl enough to get your ass beat in a fist fight there is NO WAY you wouldnt make a move on her in 3 years. Ji Pyeong already said he liked her, there is NO WAY he didnt get a) dumped or b) be bf/gf with Dal Mi. Are we supposed to believe that a guy of Ji Pyeong's caliber would not make a move girl he likes in that time frame and vice versa (remember Dal Mi always approached him first and he called her "nosy") and we're supposed to believe that nothing happened in 3 years with both of them? No no no thats just bad writing. THAT just made it 10 times easier for "fans" of Ji Pyeong to conclude that the show was bad and they arent wrong, the last part was bad writing.

She could've just you know move on from her childhood memories and just be thankful for it. I found the storyline not very realistic HAHAHAHA I don't know anymore. It just doesn't seem right lol. What furious me about this drama is how little the letters meant to her but the name meant more to her is just sad and pathetic. If it wasn't for Ji pyeong , dosan and his friends would be scammed leaving them crushed and could've given up because he has lack of confidence thus never meeting dalmi .

Horrible movie no chemistry between her and the other love interest. It was like watching an adult with a child!their whole relationship felt forced! The so called climatic kiss in episode side was less than stellar and i have see a dog kisses better. I had to stop watching it and I’m glad i did when i read that’s who she ended up with and non Mr Han what a stupid ending.

We are forced to watch dosan being there 24/7 and weirdly on the right place and at the right moment when it comes to dalmi then dalmi was bragging about the letters her whole life then did nothing to even ask HJP the moment she learned the truth. Started out good with the HJP and halmeoni history then dalmi never even asked halmeoni about her relationship with HJP. 3 years passed it's so impossible nothing happened to dalmi and HJP. One scene said that HJP always gets invited to holidays to halmeoni place then there's 0 real confrontation about the two about the letters and everything. Meanwhile we are forced to watch dosan conveniently always on the right timing everytime
