@@akhmuadz Well, isn't this better than Dream High where she kind of rejected Jin Gook was rejected for SSD only to be broken up a few days later? In Startup atleast, we get her to end up with someone actually instead of a breakup. Plus, the letters were supposed to be a way of Dal Mi and Do San meeting each other.
I feel like Han Ji Pyeong's character and story is the most interesting to me. An orphan that grew up into a smart and wealthy businessman discovering his emotions that he closed off. When he was younger, his focus was on surviving, not falling in love and that's why years later when he realizes how much Dal mi cherished his letters and remembered him, he finally understood. He had always liked Dal mi but didn't realize it when he was younger and that's why he went to great length to not hurt her feelings later on.
Also his character having all the traits of being straightforward, rational, calm, kind, supportive, silly and humorous makes it exciting to watch. It's refreshing to see a character that isn't one dimensional but can express so many personalities (seon-ho's acting is top notch). Ji pyeong truly deserves a good ending, he sacrifices himself too much for other's happiness, it's about time he finds his own.

these type of confessions are so perfect. they make my heart flutter because of how realistic it is. lots of kdramas like to portray confessions as something that should be very cheesy, like with flowers, gifts etc. we all know in real life there is no perfect way to confess to someone. but sometimes, saying the sentence "i like you" casually over a meal in an environment where both parties are comfortable with, is just enough for it to be sincere and make your heart flutter
It did not make her heart flutter not one bit.
But if I were in Dal Mi's position, I should have been confused big time considering Dal Mi already notices Mr. Han's help and care for her. I actually give time to know Mr. Han if I were Dal Mi.
I like this scene better than Nam do san's confession. it came out really natural yet from the heart. He did not bad mouth Nam do san, even built him up. He did not pressure dalmi for an answer,

he really...set the table for her, poured her water, mixed her noodles FIRST, all while confessing his feelings for her and he did it /twice/ - he admits to her that he likes her for the first time, realises that he was looking at the noodles while doing so, so he put down the chopsticks, sat a little bit straighter, looked her in the eye and confessed to her AGAIN. straightforward, no expectations, pure honesty...because the truth was all she's asking for during those times. a whole gentleman. let me cry.
Yeah all the little details of his actions shows how thoughtful and considerate he is. It was such a simple but amazing confession.

dosan and dal mi aside, we can’t deny the fact that jipyeong and granny won a lot of hearts on this show. their story is even much more interesting than the lead love story. i just dont understand why the show started with jipyeong leading a strong foundation of the story then putting him aside as a third wheel. it doesn’t make any sense. Jipyeong must really be the man. otherwise, i would say this story is just a weird one.

The way the confession is so calm and genuine with no expectations really makes it a such a great scene (and of course, both actors deliver perfectly). I really love that there are no flourishes, no fireworks, nothing unnecessary. Just the truth, like Dalmi asked. It's the Jipyeong way, the way he says that so nonchalantly and straight to the point!

You’ve counted less than ten people that Do San cares for but HJP cares for a looooot of companies and their employees, including the many Start-Ups that he’s overseeing for several years. Noticed why he’s so selfless and very generous with his wisdom? Because it’s innate in him, which makes perfect sense as to why he’s considered the top Venture Capitalist in SK in the drama. He nurtured so many companies and made the economy better for everyone.
Jipyeong keeps tryna clear the air for Do San every time he speaks. Even before himself. He agreed to go get the letter and give it to Do San while he was still crying in the car. He’s completely selfless in every way. He moves for her sake without needing anything in return. The fact that he said he likes her at all is SUCH A BIG STEP. I’m so proud of him. Jipyeong cannot express how he feels, he calls his love for Dal Mi’s grandmother a debt, the fact that he’s acknowledging he likes her, the fact that he’s finally admitting to his feelings, the fact that he said why can’t it be me? (I’ll cry again) He’s come so far. He’s having such an incredible arc. It feels like a main character. Jipyeong is the male lead to me.
He’s also ridiculously attractive. The fact that his obvious good looks come second. That’s how you know you’ve written an amazing and kind man. Kim Seon Ho is winning

This scene was just perfect. He was completely relaxed and resolved. He was sure he had to tell her how he felt, but at the same time he was cautious and mindful of her discomfort. Without being overbearing or demanding, he was honest. He did it over noodles because to him his love for her was not some grand gesture or some trophy, it was just a matter of fact.

HJP (Kim Seon Ho) stole the show. Writer tried real hard to force audiences to like popular leads but "the hand cannot hide the Sun", Seon Ho's stellar performance and such a charming character outshines the lead characters. He is the gem of the "start up" truly :)

It's so unfair that Dosan friends don't let him talk or even see Dalmi and Dosan really accept Alex offer just because he "don't want plan b" meaning he doesn't want Jipyeong close to Dalmi, meanwhile Jipyeong let everything happen naturally and even talk good about Dosan to Dalmi, he confessed to her and immediately tell Dosan and say that he's going to fight for Dalmi's love, he doesn't interfere between Dalmi and Dosan, he's the best really.

I like how Han Jipyeong leveled the playing ground, informing DM of DS's actions that pointed DS's genuine feelings for DM. He told her that AFTER informing her that he and DS are actually not close at all. That way, it would convince DM that DS was sincere despite his involvement in the lies. What's even more awesome is that HJP told those things despite having his own feelings for DM. Such a big-hearted mature man of character.
Jipyeong made such a simple clean confession while unraveling misunderstandings. There was no tension or uncomfortableness just honesty and he casually guided the conversation while eating noodles 👍 he is indeed a good boy 🥺

This is way more, way, way way more heart fluttering than dosan-dalmi kissing scene. I don't know if I'm the only one but I can't wait for the kissing scene to end while watching. But this moment right here is just pure chemistry, at least for me. My dalmi-jipyeong ship may not be the endgame but I will treasure every moments of these beautiful characters especially our Jipyeongiii..

One of my favorite confessions ever. It was so unexpected! I literally gasped. He said it so casually despite it eating him up this whole time. I love this second male lead so much. Never had a second male lead syndrome this strong. He’s just so cute and endearing.
It’s the way he didn’t even know he was gonna say it. And he freaked out at the end about how he said it. Such an interesting way to confess considering he’s loved her for so long. Jipyeong, I root for till the end 😭😭

Probably none will agree and understand but this is the best confession I've ever seen in reel or real. And jipeyong is the husband material. He is the type who will repay for every ounce of care and affection you give.

The way he make that confession looks simple but give a beautiful meaning. He even let Dalmi just sit and he do everything, from set the table and just make a smooth confession while mixing the noodle! And again he stop and looking eye to eye with Dalmi really make me see how sincere he is. He's probably a man that act tough on outside but he really a softie and always considerate. He has a chance to get Dalmi by make his story more likeable since for Dalmi, the letter is a big means for her life. JP is the matured man that doesn't feel insecure towards Dosan. He even clear the situation for him. JP just go along with the conversation. Not begged or cry.. That how I see he is such a selfless character. I bet writer cant see the different until Seonho portraying JP beautifully.
By mixing the noodles for Dal Mi showed Han Ji Pyeong character is a gentleman. By confessing with such confidence showed that he is a professional, honest and loyal person. By making Dal Mi feel comfortable and not awkward makes Han Ji Pyeong a respectable character. This scene alone beats all of Nam Do San's scenes. And all Dal Mi did through out these kind of scenes was making a poker face.

tbh this kind of scenes make my heart fluttered even more than a-romantic-passionate-kissing-scene, the type of scenes that are so gentle yet realistic. another example i can give is wintergarden ship scenes in hospital playlist !! and seonho really deliver his part so well, hands down to the goofy seonho to be able captured our hearts with cool kind hearted han jipyeong !!!

I just realized. This scene is very symbolic. Hanjipyeong is truthfully confessing to dalmi everything including his feelings. He is literally "laying it all on the table".
I agree. And putting everything first for Dal Mi and mixing the noodles for her signify where he stands. Making her happy is his priority because Dal Mi is his happiness. It is a mature and selfless kind of love.

He is the one that truly loves Dalmi.
He always chooses to make Dalmi happy, even if it would mean that he won't be with her in the end. He does things to keep her safe, not just to impress her & certainly not because he's scared that she'll choose someone else.
He can be blunt at times but he's just making people face the reality to help them improve. Because life can be tougher to those who only think that life & love would always agree with whatever you do.

Han ji pyeong character really potrayed that true love doesn't mean you have to be together. He keeps on supporting and encouraging dalmi with her choice (eventhough sometime he gives a blunt comment) and he is just hoping for dalmi to be happy. He realised that dalmi was confused with her feeling and decided to be honest with her without even bringing down nam dosan, eventhough the action might not work into his favor. He just want dalmi to stop from being confused about her feeling 🤧. I just hoping that one day jipyeong will meet someone that is concerned about his condition because beside the grandma, no one ever ask his condition or thanks him for what he had done.

Like if I did not know he was not the main guy in this drama, I would have thought he was after watching this.. he’d most probably not end up with Dalmi, but i do hope his character won’t be ruined or painted in a different light. I don't know what the writer's storyline is but I can see Dal Mi is more curious about Mr.Han bcz she asked questions only from him not Do San. Here, Mr. Han was talking about Do San but she asked about him.. although they share small time of screen together, but this small moments can't be ignored and is more impactful.
I hope she put more frustrated emotion here. She deserved to be mad with JP tho, cause all this while, the letter is treasured for her. And that frustrated feels will show how she actually care about that. But then, I think she's just in shocking situations that she just face the confession without any expression.

A true blooded gentleman! Look at this pseudo lunch date. He sets her tissue ,chopsticks, water and mixed the noodles. Of course he likewise poured out his heart on it. No wonder, after that reunion, Dal Mi doesnt avoid him in any ways. He is sincere and still the same Ji Pyeong she encounters except that he is actually her first love and he is likewise in love with her. My DalPyeong heart is healthy!

That's act of classic chivalrous behaviour from a man and the piano setting in bg and dalmi looking at him with such a longing gaze. It did made her heart flutter 💖. It would have been such a classic old school slow burn romance.
whoever created this character and cast Seon Ho in this role, was dead wrong. There has to be another level of SML syndrome bc Ji Pyeong surpass this. Confessing his feelings (though in a business like manner), not putting any blame on DoSan, explaining why they did it while so naturally setting her utensils, pouring her drink, mixing her noodles is just *chef kiss* I LOVE AND ADORE HIM SO MUCH. I know DoSan will be going through a transformation where he comes back more confident, successful and wealthy so will be on a more even playing field with Ji Pyeong, but to me JP is it. But for Dal Mi, I just want her to be happy. I'm not too (ok trying not to be) hung up on her most likely ending up with DoSan, the passionate kiss on the roof confirmed to me he was end game lol.

Even though that somewhat doesn't make sense to me.. The drama literally started with Jipyeong in the present and even in the past.. 😭
Its common sometimes in Kdramas that second leads are adorable but the main lead will still outshine the second lead (thats in my case atleast) But this drama is an exception. If you dont have any idea about the plot nor the actors you could really say Han Jipyeong is the main lead. This is the first time that I cried over a second male lead. The fact that he owns the story, the plot's all connected to him even the revenge story, he is not just a typical supporting actor who is just there to add rivalry nor to add spices but he is the one leading the story. The person whose only goal is to protect and make the leads happy even he sacrifices his own happiness. His character is so significant and he is always there for them yet he is lonely. It broke my heart that noone even asked him if he is alright after Dalmi found out about the letters. The second lead is really strong that he gives me too much tears and heartaches. But eventhough I know he will not be the end game I am still rooting for him, giving hopes to myself that maybe a miracle could happen. Or if not I just wish he will get his happy ending. Han Jipyeong deserves it like everyone else. I will never forget his character. And Kim Seonho is perfect Han Jipyeong we could ever have!

When audience watch a drama and they fall in love with characters that's how the actor who played the role is remembered and surely Kim Seon Ho will be talked about his character in the drama Start-Up. I still don't get it why the writer of this drama created a strong character for the male second lead (Han Ji Pyeong) which makes me rooting for him so much more than the main one (the male main lead character is just boring). Moreover, Kim Seon Ho was casted for this role which makes it even stronger with his charismatic and charming looks. I hope the ending won't be disappointing. Han Ji Pyeong deserves a happy ending love story.

Maybe the writer was going for an innocent and clumsy male lead. But it was a mistake casting a charming veteran theater actor as second lead. The only time i saw KSH not dominate the screen was with Jo Jungsuk in 2cops. All the rest, he owned the screen with his little facial expressions.
