Ado is quite introverted. She is also very sensitive. She’s her own biggest critic and hater. She’s reacted to her own live performances (those videos should still be up on her channel) and she’s constantly yelling obscenities at herself (while giving high praises to her band and stage productionists). She actually hosted a weekly radio show for a year up until this past March but had to step down to focus more on her music. Over the course of the year listeners got to hear the more lighthearted and “girly” (like her love of Disney princesses and luxury brands) side of her and she seemed to come more out of her shell as the year progressed. To this day she still records in her closet as she noted in her radio show that the first thing she looks at when looking for an apartment is the closet and if she can make it sound proof.
Ado has just completed her world tour between February and March in Asia, Europe, and the US singing 24 or more without losing her voice. She has returned to Japan and Ado is going to have a big stadium concert on April 27, 2024. The same stadium that had the Tokyo Olympics opening and closing ceremony in the 2020 Olympics. The capacity there is 54,424. She is the first woman to have a sole concert at the venue. I listen to her radio show. Her speaking voice has got a great elocutio. In face she did her radio show two hours before her Austin TX concert before singing more than 24 songs. The interval she had during her tour was 3~4 days. Her voice stamina is amazing.
Unravel is originally sang by TK and it's an opening song for the anime - Tokyo Ghoul. Ado covered this song and many others on her channel. Regarding the production of the songs themselves, she has worked with multiple composers and lyricists and usually they produce the song and then Ado does her thing with her crazy good vocals on top. For example, the Music, Lyrics and Arrangement for her first original debut song - Usseewa - was done by a guy named 'syudou'. Also, she does have some more 'conventional' songs. Ado can sing pretty much anything, but the mellow songs usually don't get as much attention. Some examples would be: - Where the wind blows (28M views) - The World's Continuation (26M views) - Dignity (4.4M views) Then some of her most noticeable songs that are also definitely worth checking out and will probably be the most voted for the next reactions are : - Show (live version) - Aishite Aishite Aishite (vocaloid song cover) - Odo (live version)
The amazing thing is that she was able to produce a stable, consistent tone immediately after that scream. This is proof that she has incredible control over her voice.
If you want a more unusual song, then you should listen to the Ado "Show" live; Ado herself said in an interview that this was the most difficult song for her. And this song was written especially for her. So far no one has even been able to do a cover on the "Show". And by the way, you’re right, she also has a whistle, it’s fashionable to hear "Dignity" (rock ballads) in the song
Mori Calliope did a cover of Show that is actually pretty good. But still, there's just so much Ado does vocally that I don't know if any cover will ever really do it justice.
@@throga This is a conversation between Ado and a famous Japanese vocal teacher, she tells how she sings the song “Show” and even shows the conversation in Japanese, but you can run a translator. This will probably be interesting for you (I’m giving the title, but I can also provide a link if you tell me where to send it): 【難易度SSS】 Adoさんご本人に『唱』の歌い方を教えてもらいまSHOW。【ユニバーサル・スタジオ・ジャパン「ゾンビ・デ・ダンス」新テーマソング】
Ado doesn’t write any of her music she’s purely a vocalist. She got her start as a cover artist for vocaloid music. Even now for her original songs they’re all commissioned from big name producers in the vocaloid scene.
Vocaloid cover is actually a victory of man over computer. And so, this is her advantage that she does not write herself, she will have different songs. Those who write themselves soon begin to repeat themselves.
Her voice is the most expressive instrument I’ve ever experienced. The desperation and outcry, the pain. It feels like she can go from inconsolable crying voice to shout to the heavens in anger and immediately back to powerful clear chest vocals. It’s insane and peak vocal artistry and I will hear nothing to the contrary.
Yes, Ado said in an interview that her biggest influences were Shiina Ringo, the Japanese rock legend (and also a vocal chameleon) and Western bands Quinn and Kiss (her father was their fan, and she listened to all their songs)
So this particular song, she is covering the original "unravel" by TK from Ling Tosite Sigure. Ado does have original songs as well, but she covers a good amount of music too, especially Vocaloid music. Vocaloid... to be short, is a synthesized voice with talented producers behind it all. That's its own rabbit hole in its own right, lol. Cool to see more people learning about Ado, i think she's truly incredible and was fortunate to see her live recently.
And you are right, although Ado is 21 years old, she has been singing since she was 14 years old. I watched an interview that she gave to a Japanese vocal coach, and she speaks very knowledgeably about the voice, with terminology
The imperfections in her performance is what makes this version perfect, the out of breath frantic nature of the performance fits the theam of the song perfectly
No.1 female artist of Japan, currently 22-23. she doesn’t write her own music, she tried and she thinks it was horrible, so she stuck to doing what she knows, being a vocalist she thinks she is ugly (nobody knows for sure, as the public hasn’t seen her) , I believe she said so in one of her streams or radio show episodes that ‘Gira-Gira’ is the song she felt most connected to (english translation of verse ‘god made me with his left hand’ ‘how happy would I be if god is left handed’) One of her favourite artist and inspiration is Shina Ringo(JP rock artist) who Ado did a cover on ‘Crime and Punishment’ , Shina was so impressed by Ado’s cover that she stated “if she knew of Ado back then, she wouldn’t have done ‘C&P’ “, Shina later wrote a song for Ado titled ‘missing’ Her song ‘Show’ is regarded as her most difficult song so far. Completely self taught, she started at 14 trying to imitate Vocaloid, a music program where people who want to make music but don’t have a vocalist, so they made music and have the program sing it. Which resulted in quite a number of songs that is difficult/impossible for humans to sing. Recently finished her 1st world tour, and all tickets to all her shows worldwide were sold out in minutes
and she was handpicked by Eiichiro Oda to be the main vocalist for One Piece Film Red in 2022, and did ~11 songs for that alone with the lyrics written by well known artists like Mrs. Green Apple, Vaundy, Yuta Orisaka, etc. And many of those songs are still charting rn as of 2024.
This song was written, composed and sung by Toru Kitajima popularly known as TK from "Ling Tosite Sigure", a japanese band. He also has a live version sung on The First Take and is an artist worth checking out. This is a cover from Ado in which the composition is slightly tweaked. The original is a masterpiece itself and then Ado has built upon it herself.
He said something like "It wouldn't work if it was all clean or all scream". A song quite literally about an inner fight with your other self. (Hence the shifts mid-sentence) Imagine being such a good songwriter, singer and band, that they convey this message without knowing what the lyrics even say.
Ok couple things. 1st Ado is actually around 20/21 now 2nd Unravel is a cover. The song is more showing off what Ado is capable of rayher than how she usually is. 3rd & last. Ado doesn't write her stuff. She breathes soul & passion into whats provided to her
I would recommend show (live) and if you go down the ado rabbit hole you will get to songs as Ado (Uta) that's her singing all the songs for a movie called One Piece: Film Red. She was the singing voice of the character Uta. That movie is how I found out about her.
I guess it all depends on what you wanna hear! Show (live) - Vocal/style insanity. It has it all! Dignity (live) - Power ballad Rasen (studio - collab) - Rock Value (studio) - Pop Crime and Punishment (studio) - Pure power
I just saw her in concert in Al. A. about 3 weeks ago - awesome show! She also just released her 2nd full album with a limited edition Blu Ray of that L. A. concert (that I have on preorder of course). They locked everyone's cell phones away for the duration of the concert - light sticks only, which was great. Love Ado's vocals. She also has the best iPad ad ever if you look up the MV for her song Value.
Maybe you guys can check out Artist on the Rise: Ado on her channel! She talked about what "Ado" means, how she got into singing, etc. It's actually a pretty good intro to her personality and persona
The next recommended thing to unravel Ado is the show live version. It's interesting because the genre is completely different. Other than Live, I highly recommend aishite aishite aishite. There are more variations of voice and more interesting than divine songs. I'm very happy that you two are involved with a singer named Ado. ❤
I really love how she can sound she’s on the verge of breaking like the heavy breaths, the unhinged release? Not a professional but love seeing people discover ado and teaching me more about her!
One of the things I find interesting about Ado's way of singing is her determination to express emotions through her voice, the lyrics for Unravel are meant to express desperation at some parts and hopefulness, so she combines the screams with her singing voice.
By the way, in terms of character, she is a bit of a troll, on April Fool's Day she posted an animated clip on the channel, where 4 voices sing, and the quartet is called "Potato", it seems that this is a new group that is taking the stage. Fans wondered why she needed to advertise the quartet. And then on Twitter he said that all the voices were her, and laughed at the fans that they didn’t recognize her))
(sorry for bad english in advance) God-ish and Unravel is both from her cover album released last year. Both have original versions. Unravel is a famous anime song, written by TK a decade ago. God-ish is a Vocaloid song by PinocchioP released in 2021. Vocaloid is a voice synthesizing program which you can make machine-generated (but manually tuned) voice to 'sing'. Many vocaloid producers have composed Ado's original songs. I would recommend 'Usseewa', which is her debut song and the most well-known one.
Ado = Ah (like in "cat;" not uh) Doh. There's an emphasis on "ah" more than "doh." Her stage name is derived from "supporting actor" in kyogen. I've heard people say different things: that she wants to be a support for her listeners or/and she wants to be a supporting actor to let other people's (producers, composers, lyricists, videographers, etc.) works shine. Another reason she hides her appearance is a statement of don't just look at me; listen to me." It's also to follow the utaite culture, staying anonymous (her roots she hasn't strayed from, covering vocaloid songs; she still does this pretty often when you'd expect her to leave it and make only original songs; "Unravel" as many others stated is also a song she covered! I'd love to see what you have to say about the original song btw, especially songwriting-wise). "Show" live for vocal insanity (in terms of changing it up rapidly. There's yodeling and rapping! XD) "Dignity" is a very tame Ado song, but she does the whistle you mentioned here live. "New Genesis" is absolutely clean vocals. She can do it like an idol (lol). :3
To answer a few questions and highlight a few things; First off, I went to see her live when she was in London. My personal favourite from that live performance was Gira Gira. That song is much more mellow. If you want to see a totally different side of her live performances, then give that a listen. The song "Unravel" is a cover. The original is from a singer called TK, and this was the opening song for a very popular anime called Tokyo Ghoul. You can look up the lyrics yourself, but they roughly equate to the singer slowly seeing themselves turn into a monster and losing themselves to that. When she is screaming the most, she is effectively screaming don't forget me over and over. If you want other songs from her that aren't quite so screamo, then her songs "Show" and "Usseewa" are probably her most popular songs. Show is a very very complex song that really shows off her ability to perform with multiple vocal textures and pitches, while Usseewa is more of a punk rock style song. One other song that is also VERY different to those is "Odo". Odo is more like... a Latin American stylised pop dance song. As for the not showing herself, she goes to additional lengths to protect her identity. At the show I went to in London, all recording equipment was banned, as were binoculars. There are literally warnings saying that if you are seen with your phone out, the performance stops, and some dude got on stage to tell everyone that too just on the off chance you couldn't see the signs. Pay attention to the crowd in any of the live performances if you listen to more live songs - not one person is recording it on their phone, which is insane in 2024. As for the songs she releases, she does a mixture of original songs (which other people have written; she does not write her own music) and covers. The covers she does tend to be vocaloid songs (God-ish, the first song you reacted to, was originally a vocaloid song) or songs from anime (i mentioned this is the opening to Tokyo Ghoul). Most people say they don't know what a vocaloid is, but, you have almost certainly at least heard of "Hatsune Miku"; the hologram that people in japan seem to go crazy for. A vocaloid is, for all intents and purposes, a robot voice. You generate a bunch of phonic sounds and you can turn that into a singer. This is what Hatsune Miku is; she isn't a person, she is a robotic voice that people write songs for, and them some people make animations for it. I mention Hatsune Miku specifically because 1) she is by far the most popular/well known vocaloid, and Godish is actually a Hatsune Miku song. If you end up looking at the Hatsune Miku version of God-ish, then that actually has really good English subtitles which are integrated really nicely into the video. If you end up deciding to review Anime openings off the back of this information, there are few directions you could go. Ado actually did the opening for the second season of SpyXFamily, with a song called "Kura Kura". You have the original version of Unravel by TK. Recent very strong anime openings include "Hana Ni Natte" (be a flower) by Ryokuoushoku Shakai (The opening for the first half of season 1 of "The Apothecary Diaries"), Idol by Yoasobi (The opening for Oshi No Ko Season 1) and Kick Back by Kenshi Yonezu (The opening for Chainsaw Man season 1).
Just remember Ado is a singer, not a songwriter. But I don’t see that as a detraction since she’s phenomenal at what she does. Maybe someday she’ll try it, but right now she’s got top producers lining up to work with her so she certainly doesn’t have a need to😂 But lovely reaction. It’s nice to hear people who understand music review this stuff
I love your reactions !!😄 Check out "Show" Its one of her greatest hits and another must song to understand Ado. But your Ado exploration will never end cause all her musics are all so different! You can never categorize her. She uses different voices and techniques everytime, she is a master of her voice. She can do whatever she wants to and is still imporoving. After "Show" remember to check some ballads too. She is an amazingly good singer, not only playful. How did you know Ado's personality?! Yes she is on the meek side! While being brave enough to chase her career globally, as a person she is a really modest, polite, nice and adorable 21years old. She calls herself a gloomy person and used to be more timid and reserved when she started her career but nowadays she seems to have gained more confidence and getting confortable about herself little by little, I guess. She had a 2hours weekly live radio program till March and that was always so fun. She's such an adorable and humorous person. Staying anonymous and being able to live an ordinary life is allowing her to stay herself, I think.😊
The song was written by TK from Ling Tosite Sigure (LTS is a pretty good band, I've never been a fan of TK's vocals but I am OBSESSED with his complex songwriting, and love whenever a vocalist I like covers his stuff). Also, this TK is not to be confused with legendary J-pop producer Tetsuya Komuro, who does a COMPLETELY different style of music, but went by TK first and has since the 80s. The TK who wrote "unravel" is most often officially referred to as the entire phrase "TK from Ling Tosite Sigure" for that reason, but colloquially people will just call him "TK" when it's obvious from context. Listening to Ado perform this song was a dream come true for me as someone who adores Ado's voice and strongly dislikes TK's, but is just a massively huge fan of this song's composition & lyrics. My husband described my positive reaction to Ado's cover as "a bit out of pocket" and, yeah, fair. lol
i find the song a lot more impactful when you have the lyrics, which i definitely can understand it being hard to take in more information during all that 😆 but its actually a very sad song about an inner struggle losing to a monstrous shift in ones self. I think her performance really reflects that concept with how shes constantly switching between beautiful melody and "off the rails" screaming
This is the song of a man who turns into the undead, but does not agree with this, and therefore is furious. The last phrase is “remember that I existed” (c)
I really love Ado's version. But ya'll are doing yourselves a disservice if you don't check out the original by TK. The original is an all time great song.
SInce you guys are vocal coach and pianist/songwriter, you guys should absolutely react to the piano version of Ussewa. There's so much you guys could talk about. She was 17 when she sang that one and it's remained one of my favourites from her. She's always been quite socially awkward and cute in contrast to her voice lol, though she's gotten less awkward recently. Unfortunately there aren't very many English translations of her, but one of them to grasp a bit of her personality is a clip by "Yaki Soba" called "Ado cringes at her own live performance" which is Ado reacting to her live performance of "Odo". The video title she's reacting to is "Ado - 踊 / Odo (Live at Saitama Super Arena 2022.8.11)" Maybe you guys can do a reaction to that performance, do your review and then react to her reaction lol. The reaction video is trimmed down a bit so it won't take that much longer even in the same video. There were also a couple of times when she reacted to her piano version of Ussewa which was hilarious but there aren't any English translations...
Happy 2B here! ADO’s a breath of fresh air.. a legit genius imho. I’m looking forward to go on her journey with y’all. Thanks Richard and Johnny.. absolutely love you two ♥️
If you would be able to check the lyrics of this song along with the story of the anime, Tokyo Ghoul, the voice switches at the end totally makes sense. She delivered the song damn perfectly.
Ado has actually done a lot of covers of songs over the years, i think to help showcase her own interpretation of the songs with her incredible range and voice. This one, the first one you did and another one called "Crime and Punishment" are three of my favorite covers by her. Highly recommend checking out that one or "Value" which is an original song done by her in collaboration with an artist structuring the entire music video on an ipad for an Apple ad lol
Where she is taking the most vocal risks, like the metal growly parts, are places where she sings lyrics like, I can't move, I CAN'T MOVE and gives such a sense of hysteria. It's awesome.
15:00 what's amazing about this performance is that you said you did not look up lyrics/or have much context regarding what the song is about or what it was written for and were able to make this observation or make this comment/joke. Ado is able to convey this conflict within oneself and give a performance that transcends language to get the idea of the song/performance across to anyone watching it for the first time. She's so cool. Really enjoyed your reaction guys :^)
This and Godish were both covers. Most of her early career consisted of covers. You shoud check out "Show" and "Usseewa" which are two of my favorite originals of her's.
With elements of pop, jazz, EDM and hip-hop all set to a voice that belongs in heavy metal, Ado’s music pushed fans to their feet, jumping, screaming and waving their color-changing light sticks to the beat. To fans, Ado is “seen” as many things: an animated girl with a long coat and a piercing gaze or even an idol with white and red hair from a world of pirates. But regardless of that perception, the one “true” Ado is the one that can only be heard. (c)
The fact that she is a mysterious singer. She didn't show up in her concerts. I really love her voice! There is alot of spice in her works. She only showed up once in a live show.
She is in the shadows, but you can see her a little at the concert, and you can even see her face, but only briefly. She regularly performs on Japanese radio, she has her own show on music radio “All Nippon nights”, you can even talk to her there)). She is also active on social media
interview Ado - There are a lot of different voices in one song, do you consciously sing that way? - If you ask me if I'm singing consciously, the answer might be the same as before, I change the tone and quality of my voice according to thoughts, meanings, etc. Actually, there are the thoughts of the original songs and the thoughts of the Vocaloid P. As the words are chosen and put in the song, and as a matter of course, the lyrics are not just simple words that sound good or have a nice ring to them, but they also have a story and a meaning. In order to express that in my own way, for example, if I'm feeling sad, I'll sing in a low voice, or if there's an angry phrase, I'll raise my voice and sing as if I'm really angry.
It is amazing to see that you guys are taking an interest in Ado. While I have known her contents e.g. songs ever since her debut, only recently have I been getting into her, and to sate my curiousity I have done a bit of digging myself. That is why I wanted to share my understanding, to give the context for the songs that you guys have been watching. Ado does not write any of her songs herself, they are works in collaboration with various other, primarily people who are known as VocaloidP, They are song creator who makes use of Vocaloid a voice synthesizer software that is very popular in Japan, with many songs characterised by a structure which would normally be difficult to reproduce with only raw human voice, Godish that she covered, and you guys have previously reacted to is one such example. I also believe this have played a large part in influencing her style of singing. In regards to Unravel, Unravel is also a song that she is covering, the original song is by TK from Ling Tosite Sigure, and I believe that is why you both feels that the song is more conventional compared to Godish. Talking about Ado as her person and not the singer. My understanding of Ado comes from watching some of her livestreams (no face shown), and from listening to her talks on a radio which she was the selected to be the personality of for approximately 1 year, and lastly interviews. Ado describes herself as an introvert, and a typical "otaku" the Japanese term for nerd. She describes herself distinctively as the type who becomes social akward around stangers, have a phobia of getting serviced by a worker when e.g. out buying clothes and etc. She also calls herself, her largest hater. There are videos out there where she reacts to her own concerts and gets really cringe about it. In more official settings such as interviews, you get a generally feel that she is very mature and well-spoken, but peel those away and looking at her livestreams and as radio personality, you really feel that she is just a normal girl, an ordinary girl who simply admires Disney princesses, so much that on many occasions she have come out and said her biggest wish is to be reincarnated as a pigeon that lives inside Disneyland theme parks. She also have a playful mischievious side to her, when you get to see those sides of her, she really is a girl no stranger than any other you would find by just looking out on the street. While she is not exactly meek she definitely have this cute and sure side, where in her streams and radio she often gets teased by the viewers, very persistence with making her recount her experience of getting biten by a lion dance. During one of her streams some of the viewers managed to make her really believe that in Australia there are onions that flies. An interesting fact, she have personally stated that her height is 157 cm, making it 5ft 1.8 in. If you guys are planning on more looking at more contents by Ado, I would recommend song which are not covers as you guys have already covered 2 such songs. Either Show a song that she have personally said have been the most difficult song she have sung, or Odo espc. the live version which she sings as the 24th song in the concert.
"Aishite Aishite Aishite" and "TOKYO CANNIBALISM" are must-listens for you guys. Her "normal voice" is rather deep and sounds "lazy" which makes it sound scratchy/coarse at times. She has always had pretty low self-worth, doesn't like herself particularly much - musical success hasn't really changed that (she said so herself). As such she is usually pretty reticent, interrupts herself a lot, is pretty brusk, has pretty dry humour but can equally be very cheeky when she feels like it and also has a very cynical side.
Yeah, these lyrics are definitely ones to look at separately because your brain might explode from the pressure of this masterpiece and its lyrics combined (this is a cover btw, the song belongs to TK)
Thank you guys for introducing me to Ado! I came to your channel through your Dimash reactions and discovered this unexpected artist, Ado. I was first very confused about my feelings about her, but she definitely didn't leave me indifferent. Now she's gotten on my daily playlist and I am fascinated by her. She is one of the first female artists to become an inspiration for me - and by that I do not mean that she's one of the only female artists that I like or enjoy listening to, no! It's just that she inspires me to explore my voice even more ! I wish I could find some of her vocal freedom and a vocal coach ready to lead me in that direction. Dimash and Ado both seem to have pushed the limits of what people think a single voice can do. Dimash has a huge range which he probably developed despite everybody telling him that it was impossible. Ado screams and uses all possible voices in one song, despite all the rules and limitations that people have set until now. It's as if nobody told them that it was impossible, so they dit it. Or they were told it was impossible, but they just didn't care and did it anyway. What a huge inspiration!
If you want to sing like Ado, you need to find a yodeling teacher, she knows yodeling. You will also need an extreme vocal teacher to learn growl and screaming techniques.
@@Olkam-w5u you are right, I'd love to find a vocal teacher that is willing to experiment that much, I don't think it's easy to find... I already started searching on youtube how to scream in a safe way (without damaging your vocal chords)
Btw, if you read the lyrics you will understand why it sounds as if her voice is almost falling out of her control, its very intentional and makes the lyrics sound even better than they already do
Ado didn't wrote her own songs if I remember correctly, but she did make all of these songs her own. Unravel is not her original song. It's a cover. The original singer is TK from Ling Tosite Sigure. It definitely interesting hearing you describing Jekyll and Hyde because if you understand the meaning of this song, it kinda almost like that. Not 100% accurate, but almost.
Also about an interview where you can judge her personality, she has a few videos on her RUclips channel where she talks to her fans and there are also a few interviews.
This is a cover from the original by TK, and Tokyo Ghoul’s ost. If you try to read the lyrics, her emotions make sense. One example: “Wasurenaide” means don’t forget Honestly the song fits the anime so well so its relatable
Another example is when she’s almost whispering “oshiete yo oshiete yo sono shikumi wo” means “tell me, tell me” or “wont you tell me how this works” something along the line. The song is about the anime where he’s a monster and trying to keep ppl away so they wont get hurt, being conflicted with oneself. So I suggest you read the lyrics as it matches her energy, you’ll appreciate it more :)
忘れ(WA SU RE)ないで(NA I DE)=Don't forget me. 忘れ(WA SU RE)=forget (me). ないで(NA I DE)=Don't (forget me). All of the highs, lows and screams in her vocals are all placed in areas fitting to the lyrics and the story.
this was a cover of a TK song but 100% recommend her first original single ussewa and also a little bit more recent song called Aishite Aishite Aishite this one is another cover but this time of a vocaloid song... i think you will find SOOO much more unhingedness in Aishite Aishite Aishite while ussewa is a more conventional song
Why you think it is Dr. Jeckle and Mr. Hide is singing in the same breath is because she is trying to relay the exact situation with the anime, "Tokyo Ghoul" in which the protagonist is suddenly change into a ghoul.
Both songs you explored are covers by Ado. 'Godish' was written by the Vocaloid producer PinocchioP; TK wrote and sung 'Unravel' for the anime 'Tokyo Ghoul'. Yes, Ado masters the whistle register, too. e.g. in 'Dignity', i.e. one of her more recent original productions.
Ringo Shiina comment: "When I first heard Ado's voice, I was in awe, thinking, ``What an ideal cat voice.'' If I had found this sound 25 years ago, before she imposed a moratorium on my work, I think I would have asked her to sing it for me. Yes, I have continued to run out of luck as a creator, and I would have looked exactly the same by now. Ado lets us hear his wild roar every time, but he is also a craftsman blessed with the intelligence to control himself. He likes that too." (с)
You mentioned wanting to hear her normal speaking voice at the end - there's a video on her channel called "Artist on the Rise - Ado" as part of a series RUclips Music did on up and coming musical artists. It's a couple years old now, but it's a nice quick 8 or so minute insight into her background, personality, why she chose the name "Ado", etc. Worth a watch!
damn I got chills again. Japanese artists are really good at portraying emotions in their songs. one of my favorite is the live performance by majiko - 心做し (kokoronashi)
Jekyll and Hyde comment is right on the money. The song is about a conflict between introverted shy guy and his broken and beaten alter ego who's a calm and collected killer(correct me on this, im bad at explaining stuff).
Today was the first day of Ado's concert at the Japanese National Olympic Stadium. Over 70 000 attendances. Bz's guitarist as a surprise guest and played one solo and guitar part of Dignity while Ado is standing on a big blue rose balloon singing. She performed in front of an incredible LCD screen which kept her completely backlit and in silhouette. Ado inside a bird cage cart that drived through the arena and sang 3 songs, soooo close to fans. There were a lot of lights and lasers and fire effects, and even fireworks from the roof of the stadium.
Oh, I found it. This is a conversation between Ado and a famous Japanese vocal teacher, she tells how she sings the song “Show” and even shows the conversation in Japanese, but you can run a translator. This will probably be interesting for you (I’m giving the title, but I can also provide a link if you tell me where to send it): 【難易度SSS】 Adoさんご本人に『唱』の歌い方を教えてもらいまSHOW。【ユニバーサル・スタジオ・ジャパン「ゾンビ・デ・ダンス」新テーマソング】
on her interview on Japanese tv or you tube, She did plan all the parts of the scream, high pitch, low pitch based on the meanings of the words in the song.

No, she is already recording in the studio, I heard in the last interview.
多餘 就聽歌而已 你講????????????
@@Olkam-w5u she's recording original songs in the studio and covers in her closet
Epic BPD moment. I am literally her.
This was song 7 of 24 during this concert.
And song 24 was just as powerful
Our glorious queen never fail
Say what now?

Some examples would be:
- Where the wind blows (28M views)
- The World's Continuation (26M views)
- Dignity (4.4M views)
Then some of her most noticeable songs that are also definitely worth checking out and will probably be the most voted for the next reactions are :
- Show (live version)
- Aishite Aishite Aishite (vocaloid song cover)
- Odo (live version)
Aishite Aishite Aishite is amazing. Her vocals are like a manic insane carnival ride!!. . . Mind blowing!
One of her more mellowed song is Aitakute which is very, very nice as well.
Usseewa is for sure a song that should be checked out
The amazing thing is that she was able to produce a stable, consistent tone immediately after that scream.
Show is another masterpiece that you should react to. But it is different style. Crime and Punishment is another really God tier sing
What are you on about? No one has covered the Show? What rock are you under? There are covers and even translated covers of it.
@@karactr8361 Ado even did a livestream where she reacted to a bunch of covers of Show, and then put up a playlist of those covers on her channel.
Mori Calliope did a cover of Show that is actually pretty good. But still, there's just so much Ado does vocally that I don't know if any cover will ever really do it justice.
Dudes!!! Yes!!! You should for sure check out Crime and Punishment! It’s so good
UHG I love crime and punishment
Truth...that'll blow their minds after these two
Will do!!! Thanks John :)

@@throgaAdo turned 21 in December. And yes, her Sheena Ringo cover of crime & punishment is the best. The live original by Sheena is crazy good.

@@Olkam-w5u lmao?
Something bad will happen to her vocal chord if she's doing it again and again. Screaming like that is risky long term.

The songs "Show" and her cover of "Aishite Aishite Aishite" are for you guys. You NEED it.
The imperfections in her performance is what makes this version perfect, the out of breath frantic nature of the performance fits the theam of the song perfectly
No.1 female artist of Japan, currently 22-23.
she doesn’t write her own music, she tried and she thinks it was horrible, so she stuck to doing what she knows, being a vocalist
she thinks she is ugly (nobody knows for sure, as the public hasn’t seen her) , I believe she said so in one of her streams or radio show episodes that ‘Gira-Gira’ is the song she felt most connected to (english translation of verse ‘god made me with his left hand’ ‘how happy would I be if god is left handed’)
One of her favourite artist and inspiration is Shina Ringo(JP rock artist) who Ado did a cover on ‘Crime and Punishment’ , Shina was so impressed by Ado’s cover that she stated “if she knew of Ado back then, she wouldn’t have done ‘C&P’ “, Shina later wrote a song for Ado titled ‘missing’
Her song ‘Show’ is regarded as her most difficult song so far.
21 year
and she was handpicked by Eiichiro Oda to be the main vocalist for One Piece Film Red in 2022, and did ~11 songs for that alone with the lyrics written by well known artists like Mrs. Green Apple, Vaundy, Yuta Orisaka, etc. And many of those songs are still charting rn as of 2024.
i don't know how many times i have already watch this live performance probably 100th but it still give me the goosebump
You’re pretty much spot on, because this song is about the demon within you slowly taking control of you, and the pain and desperation of it all.
Even crazier, this was at the end of the show and she still had the breath to pull that off.
training, primarily running to develop breathing
He said something like "It wouldn't work if it was all clean or all scream".
A song quite literally about an inner fight with your other self. (Hence the shifts mid-sentence)
Imagine being such a good songwriter, singer and band, that they convey this message without knowing what the lyrics even say.
this song described anime Tokyo Ghoul perfectly.
Ado is truly one of the best vocal talents of our generation. This is the single most emotional live vocal performance I’ve ever heard

Ok couple things.
1st Ado is actually around 20/21 now
2nd Unravel is a cover. The song is more showing off what Ado is capable of rayher than how she usually is.
3rd & last. Ado doesn't write her stuff. She breathes soul & passion into whats provided to her
Honestly just take any of her song. Every single one is a masterpiece and will blow your minds
Dignity (live) - Power ballad
Rasen (studio - collab) - Rock
Value (studio) - Pop
Crime and Punishment (studio) - Pure power
I just saw her in concert in Al. A. about 3 weeks ago - awesome show! She also just released her 2nd full album with a limited edition Blu Ray of that L. A. concert (that I have on preorder of course). They locked everyone's cell phones away for the duration of the concert - light sticks only, which was great. Love Ado's vocals. She also has the best iPad ad ever if you look up the MV for her song Value.
【Ado】ウタカタララバイ(ウタ from ONE PIECE FILM RED) - This song is very crazy musically
This is just one of the songs ADO sings, but her charm is that she can sing an astonishing range of genres.😮❤
you really needs to react to "crime and punishment - ado" is another mind blowing song
And then on Twitter he said that all the voices were her, and laughed at the fans that they didn’t recognize her))
Ado is actually a self taught singer
(sorry for bad english in advance)
God-ish and Unravel is both from her cover album released last year.
Ado debe ser una estrella mundial, conocida por su gran talento inigualable❤❤, gracias por compartir la reaccion
XD)
"Dignity" is a very tame Ado song, but she does the whistle you mentioned here live.
"New Genesis" is absolutely clean vocals. She can do it like an idol (lol). :3
"studio vocalist"
To answer a few questions and highlight a few things;
First off, I went to see her live when she was in London.
Maybe someday she’ll try it, but right now she’s got top producers lining up to work with her so she certainly doesn’t have a need to😂
But lovely reaction. It’s nice to hear people who understand music review this stuff
I love your reactions !!😄
Check out "Show" Its one of her greatest hits and another must song to understand Ado.
My husband described my positive reaction to Ado's cover as "a bit out of pocket" and, yeah, fair. lol
If you're intrested in another live song from her, I'd hhighly recommend "Show" and "New Genesis"
i find the song a lot more impactful when you have the lyrics, which i definitely can understand it being hard to take in more information during all that 😆 but its actually a very sad song about an inner struggle losing to a monstrous shift in ones self.
ワンオクみたいにアドの特集もお願いします🎉
The video title she's reacting to is "Ado - 踊 / Odo (Live at Saitama Super Arena 2022.8.11)"
Maybe you guys can do a reaction to that performance, do your review and then react to her reaction lol.
Lisa Gurenge and Yoasobi from first take and seriously if you wanna see Ado’s vocal adaptability check out ADO One Piece RED. You guys will love it.
You should check out Aishite Aishite Aishite by her as well! That's one of her "oh yea, this is what I can do with my voice" songs. She's incredible!
I know you have seen TK's First Take version, but I hope you can react to the original studio version too.
Where she is taking the most vocal risks, like the metal growly parts, are places where she sings lyrics like, I can't move, I CAN'T MOVE and gives such a sense of hysteria. It's awesome.
And in the lullaby, when she sings “clear your mind,” her voice becomes clear and honeyed
I strongly recommend Aishite Aishite Aishite cover by Ado which you can experience so many vocal variation in one song!
I would like to request TK’s song “first death”
If you want to hear ados natural speaking voice, her RUclips Chanel has a lot of cute clips of her just being a dork and it’s super endearing
interview Ado - There are a lot of different voices in one song, do you consciously sing that way?
Well, she's the same height as Shakira and Madonna
great breakdown.......check, show live & dignity. they are fantastic
I haven’t come across how cynicism manifests itself yet?
The UNRAVEL was sang by different male japanese band singer for a anime Opening
Yeah, these lyrics are definitely ones to look at separately because your brain might explode from the pressure of this masterpiece and its lyrics combined (this is a cover btw, the song belongs to TK)
【Ado】オールナイトレディオ - By the way, here’s a completely ordinary, calm song from Ado
Ado's whistle made its debut in the live performance of Dignity.

Btw, if you read the lyrics you will understand why it sounds as if her voice is almost falling out of her control, its very intentional and makes the lyrics sound even better than they already do
Ado is able to do whistle voice as demonstrated on her song Dignity which she does it live on japan cdtv
It's erratic and calm and aggressive and her vocal style is just something to behold that's exactly right that's art man
I hope you can check out ado’s one piece songs! Fleeting lullaby, new genesis, backlight and tot musica for sure!
i love her so much 😭😭😭😭
ADO is INCREDIBLE
Also about an interview where you can judge her personality, she has a few videos on her RUclips channel where she talks to her fans and there are also a few interviews.
about that "if she does that consistent" thing: Listen to her live version of "Odo". Its the 24th song of a concert and its awesome.
My glorious queen 🙇🏻
She has done a whistle LIVE the song is called Dignity (live version)
「愛して愛して愛して」も是非聴いていただきたいですね!
Do Crime and Punishment, it will rock your view count. Craziest song I've ever heard.
because we know the anime where this song debut. we can imagine why it sounds like that. tokyo ghoul is mental. 😂
I think most crazy song is aishite aishite aishite
This is a cover from the original by TK, and Tokyo Ghoul’s ost. If you try to read the lyrics, her emotions make sense. One example:
“Wasurenaide” means don’t forget
Honestly the song fits the anime so well so its relatable
Yes, but what kind of control and technique do you need to have to do this and so quickly, I can’t even imagine
And in the Guardian newspaper there is an article about her, they wrote that her vocal range is more than 4 octaves
Ringo Shiina comment:
"When I first heard Ado's voice, I was in awe, thinking, ``What an ideal cat voice.'' If I had found this sound 25 years ago, before she imposed a moratorium on my work, I think I would have asked her to sing it for me.
後は最近まで彼女はラジオ番組を持っていました。Adoのオールナイトニッポン"AdoANN"で検索すると普段の話し方が分かります
damn I got chills again.
BTW guys, now she is 21 years old
Oh, I found it.
