This is the song of a woman in the red light district who is mistreated and no one cares about. She screams and cries. This cannot be sung with autotune. This song was written 20 years ago and performed by Shiina Ringo, a Japanese rock legend, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, style icon. She is Ado's idol. Shiina Ringo also wrote the song "Missing" for Ado for a horror film, which Ado performed. They met and worked on a song together. Shiina Ringo's performance is also very worth listening and watching, it's crazy

She is the closest to a stage musical performer. Usually, the studio version of Ado's songs are much more 'refined' and 'contained' while her live versions are way more intense, emotional and overall 'unhinged'.
Just a trivia, Ado actually means a side character in Kyōgen (japanese comic theatre depicting real life). She used that name because she wanted to be a side character to her music. That's probably another reason that she doesn't reveal her face.
I think it's more precise to say that she wants to be a like a side character in people's life thanks to her music.

This is a 24-year-old song by none other than the legendary Sheena Ringo. Although Ado does an excellent version of it, I think the original is better. Recommend you listen to it. Ado is a big fan of Sheena Ringo, and Sheena Ringo was involved during the recording of Ado's version.
Sheena Ringo truly is amazing, and I love her live versions of Crime & Punishment that are up on RUclips. Ado did a great job on covering it but the original is even more impressive imho.

Just in case you don't know, "SEVEN STAR" is a name of Tobacco produced by Japan Tobacco, which is a bit strong flavor and so implies who smoke it in the song is an very matured female.
Ado contributes the singer's artistic creativity, whilst the musical materials and productions are contributed by others. Consider that Japanese creatives like her are part of tightly knit communities of emerging talent across different artforms such as vocaloid and anime.

To pick out one quote of your video: "... fill a stadium like this voice will". She was actually the first female solo artist that performed in the Kokuritsu Kyougijou, the Japan National Stadium earlier this year. She completely sold out 80k tickets and that two days in a row. On her world tour she also sold out a 7.5k cap venue in Germany and a 14k cap venue in Belgium. She probably could've also sold out way bigger venues in the US, too, but I think they kind of underestimated her popularity outside of Japan. And what you talked about afterwards, the anonymity, is actually because she is very conscious of herself and extremely introverted (at least it started out that way), that's at least one reason why she doesn't want people to know how she looks like and anything about her. Her voice was always the only thing she was really confident about when it comes to herself. I think she'll keep it that way until she gets either forcefully "unmasked" or doesn't want to do music anymore.

I would like to recommend you DROWNING by WOODZ. A song that make u want to scream together with him while singing this song but also your heart suddenly full of sick feeling that ready to blown up and cry. His vocals is so unique and amazing. He debut as a rapper, but now he's officially an all-rounder with amazing skill in many field (rap, vocal, choreo, even he's always be one of the important person behind all his songs in writing, composing, etc bcs i dont remember the way to say it, sorry). He did 3 octave highnote here. Actually in the demo (also made and sung by him) its a little higher, but bcs his throat was sick on the recording day so he made it a little lower (lower he said, but for me its still higher than what i could do, lol). I think you'll love it. Please look for it. Thank you 😂

Ado is not hysterical, she shows more desperation. Shiina Ringo has several versions of this song, the one that in her youth is even crazier than Ado, the one that we know better - she already has vast experience in voice manipulation
