I loved this version far better than the studio. It feels more desperate, agggressive and overall melancholy that fits it better
That's the beauty of live performance I guess. Something different, not staged, all raw singing. Both is great and has their unique traits.
Music is a performance art after all. In comparison to writers or visual artists, musicians should be able to perform their records. And as such, lives should always be better than studio. It’s upsetting that this is seemingly the exception and not the rule.

maybe, but just as always in my case, i usually like more live performaces rather than studio versions, not only with ado
abaut music from ado, for example Odo, i love lives version but from other musicians (specially rock and metal) too
The craziest context of this for me is that this was Early in her set, and she does long shows.

This song is so amazing, and Ado just did an amazing job throwing emotions and grit into it! i still tear up because you can just FEEEL the emotion. So so goood!
glad you checked out the live! I like it better than the studio recording. The end where she flips back and forth between head and screaming is just so good. She did announce a world tour yesterday and will be coming to four cities in the US.

I fucking love Ado's voice, the control she has over her voice
her ability to change and play back and forth is incredible, she showed that on this song in an incredible way, going back and forth from scream that would may fit in metal to falsetto/head voice

Great reaction! I really like your explanations for all the different parts and contributions to the performance. Personally, I preferred the live to the studio version for this song. As far as the guitar solo goes, what's wrong with not liking it? I liked that you were honest, and also explained your reasonings behind why you didn't really like it in the studio version, and why you thought the live version was better overall, rather than not commenting on it at all. The reason I watch your reaction is for the commentary after all, and I felt I was able to learn more about what went into the performance of this piece thanks to you.

Another think that’s crazy it that I think she preformed this halfway through her set! Not at the end of her show! That just blows my mind that she was still able to sing after this 😮
this version is a lot better than the studio version IMO, Ado's voices shine a lot in this version.

I heard that this song was the first of about 20 songs sung live.
It's a song that makes my throat hurt, but I have to say that it was amazing to think that I sang about ten songs after that.
She did a live performance on TV the other day.
She was a great singer then too.
Close it was actually the 7th song out of 23 song set with the live version of show being her 22nd of the night to give you an idea of her vocal endurance and in the middle of the set she did a version of tot Musica that I wish was public

I don't know about anyone else but the screams and being better than studio version reminds me of Chester and Linkin Park.

I forgot the exact order but i think she sang unravel as the 7th song for this concert. The wild thing is that the total number of songs she performed in this concert is 24 if im not mistaken.
The live version is without a doubt the superior version
what a great song and pefomance I love ado and youre analisis as well.
On the other hand ill truly recomend you the made in abyss OST, its one of the best of i hear it and think youre gonna enjoy it to, particullary recomend two songs: "hanezeve caradhina" and "VOH".

She has it all-great songs, amazing musicians supporting her, fabulous live shows, a mysterious but captivating persona, cool videos and a voice unlike any I’ve ever heard. Even Sheena Ringo is in awe. Reactors and vocal coaches have been losing their minds for awhile over this song, I’m just happy to see the interest continue and now that her world tour has started hearts and minds will be blown en masse the world over.
She uses all the parts of her voice, she's really free, do not have a sense of 'Oh i broke the rules, kind a break out of tone, now it will sound bad" she uses voice break/crack out of the original tone as another color of her voice, then do it intentionally. also she's really breathless here while still controlling the tones, I guess she improvise way too many things, yet it feels more sincere, like how she feels at the moment on stage.. I will only be able to take liberties like this with a song is when I'm in the shower.

It’s hard to tell, but it might be a touch faster. Love performances aren’t always perfectly on tempo. But this isn’t to far off.

Gotcha. Granted, I'd make the argument that the screaming vocals were an integral part of the tone of the song. It kind of portrays the sorrow, anger, and madness of the lyrics. Plus, it really helps raise the energy of the crowd in a live performance. That's just my opinion though.
agreed you are spot on with your take . my opinion is just that , a not well thought out analysis . my biggest beef is using stunts like hiding your identity with lots of visual distractions . i prefer just the music in a live performance . no lights or other type of visual distraction . a good example would be Jackson Browne . he came out in a funky brown long sleeve shirt ,plugged in , counted two ,three , four and away the concert went . the most visually outrages thing on the stage was when David Linley use to play slide guitar for him , in some non matching insane pants and shirt .a sort of 1960s homeless hippie look. 😂 but wow he could duplicate the studio version live , if he wanted .
