I think Varance is not physically weak, he just needs to more agressive and not to hesitate to commit fouls. He in fact has some classic defender qualities better than Ramos(1 on 1 , anticipation..) though Ramos is obviously more complete player.
I don't agree with the skillful players piece, Ramos' aggression usually leads to him winning vs skillful players. Could you focus on defensive midfielders in any future videos? Kante, Busquets, old Toure and Vieira clips? I would really love to learn their positioning, I'm transitioning from an attacking midfield role into a defensive midfield role but I need to figure out where I should be and when. The Casemiro piece helped a lot.

It's a trait of classic CBs that most of modern days CBs lack. Look at Nesta,Maldini,Cannavaro vs Terry, Pique,Ramos. Most of the managers now are ready to compromise some classic defending quality for a defender who helps the team more in ball control, speed, passing...etc

Nacho is a versatile player so I think it will be hard for him to cement a particular place in the starting XI, though will be indespensable season long. That's why they work so well together. By having 2 overly aggressive defenders, or 2 non-aggressive defenders, the balance wouldn't be there causing issues. The fact that they have one of each type, allows for better cover and decision making as there will always be one pressing and one covering.

I don't think Ramos is better defender than Varane. They are just different type of defenders. Ramos is more agressive. But sometimes he commits fooly mistakes. And he gets more cards. Varane is very calm. No CB is faster than Varane. They have good chemistries. Lucky for RM. But they didn't nee contract with Pepe. It's fucking mistakes because pepe is world cup winner and absolutely world class like Ramos and Varane. Though he is getting old, he can play better than vallero until he retires.

I liked this but didn't like a few aspects. Varane's negatives were not negatives...you can't win every tackle, he is doing his job by following the striker who drops and not letting him turn. He doesn't have the win the ball, Ramos wins some balls in these situations but often he also fouls and gives away free kicks in bad areas. Meanwhile where are the Ramos negative points? He often lets people run behind him because he is too focussed on winning balls played to players feet. A quick change of direction and he is left behind. In this video he was getting credit when the midfield was doing the ball winning for him.
the funny part of all this (which I think is a great analisys) is that Nacho can cover for Ramos and Varane and is as fast as Varane and as agressive as Ramos. It doesn't look like other teams will have many easy nights against this team. Oh!! i forgot...Vallejo in the oven for the future...best four CBs in the game (as a unit).
People forget Varane is still young, he's not the complete package yet. Ramos is and has been for years. Don't underestimate the work Varane is doing tracking runs and covering the gaps too. That kind of defending often shuts down attacking plays before they happen. Varane actually makes it easier for Ramos in the duel by reducing the number of good options the ball carrier has because he is tracking the runs. Even if Ramos doesn't win the duel, the ball carrier is often forced to pass backwards and the runner is left out of position as Varane comes back to cover the gap.
I don't think it's necessarily that Varane not aggressive, but he has to be conservative with his play. They can't have two CBs that are overly aggressive and get caught out of position. They complement each other well. Also if Varane were to get cautioned as much as Ramos, it could put more pressure on them because they can't afford to get another card and get removed from the game.
who also thinks zidane is not a good manager. they win just because of players real Madrid have. in defence most of the time there is big gaps. if any day Ramos and casemiro are playing average, then they will concede goals like small team. in my opinion zidane is just a bad copy of simeone as a coach. real Madrid needs a attacking minded coach. zidane just sucks in tactics.
