Hello, my name is Myungho, and I'm a longboard downhill rider from Korea. I've been watching your channel and I'm really impressed. This winter, I want to try snow skating like you, so I'm planning to make my own setup, and I have a few questions that I'd like your advice on. First, I'm curious about how you connected the ski and the deck. Second, I'd like to know what kind of grip tape you used on the deck. Griptape for regular skateboards tends to get slippery when it gets wet. I'm wondering if there's another method or alternative for this. Lastly, I'm curious if you wore regular skate shoes like Vans. I hope you can provide some guidance on these matters. Thank you!
The connection is a basic pivot system to allow the ski to flex. It's very similar to Rocker trucks "punk rockers" just my own beefier design. The grip is "Tundra Grip" from grip-all global. I use Vans SK8-HI MTE-3 shoes. I also recommend using a footstop if your deck doesn't have a front kicktail. So stoked that you are interested in snowskating!!
To elaborate on the ski connection. I use a custom board pressed with inserts like a skinny snowboard. Without a normal ski you have to drill and plug holes with threaded inserts.
@@harrisonbell1193 Do you recommend any snowskate on the market that I would be able to do dh like you do with your custom setup? I checked Hovland but I don’t know the brand.
@@dbmooo most anything on the market is gonna be 110-140cm length unless it's made for powder. You don't want a popsicle / spoon shape powder ski for DH style. I recommend the landyachtz Mckenski to get started on. I'd wait to order custom until you have a better idea of what riding style you like to do
@@harrisonbell1193 Sorry for thousand questions 😅 to be honest I am about to buy a Donek to make one like yours. Let me ask you one last question, does the rocker trucks have good connection (holes and size) to the Donek deck or do I need to adapt? Thanks a lot, you are awesome.
I had no idea donek made snowskate skis! Awesome! I ride a knapton twin.
this is actually one of their slalom shapes that I ordered in a really narrow width

Hey brother which griptape are you using on your dh skate?
You made my winter, I will make a snowskate too, looks awesome.
thank you dude!! I use the grip-all global Tundra grip year-round. it's great for rain skating but unfortunately not compatible with brake soles
