Nice, the Ford inertia switch is now electronic and resetable from the scanner. Back in the day I used to give the inertia switch a good whack when my friends weren't looking and hear the ball pop. When they went to start their car, no go. LOL
man, i had a pos ford tempo 20 years ago that had bad rear struts, and every pothole would send that drivers rear wheel bouncing and trip the inertia switch, that was not a good time, living in Pa, lol, every 15 feet there's another pothole, lol
@@inothome oh it did suck, first time it happened i was getting on I-70 from state rte 51, and the car just shut off. If you know anything about Pennsylvania, you know we have like the shortest on-ramps, so I barely had enough time to get to the shoulder. It happened 4 more times, and I said heck with it and bypassed that switch. That contraption was a 92 Tempo i bought for $120, had a slipping transmission, blown struts, clogged cat converter, and the HVAC system didn't work at all, a beater without even a heater! managed to limp that hunk of trash along for 2 months before i lost all forward gears and wound up driving 8 miles from work to home in reverse.

Man Ivan, I’m here in Houston. Flood cars after Hurricane Harvey and the biblical flood were everywhere for years down here. VIN reprogramming is sometimes a gamble at best on certain vehicles. This battle you engaged in should be fun to watch and see what the final outcome will be.
It looks to me like the dealer didn't program the new keys to the vehicle. I think they just cut them by VIN, handed them to the customer, and said "Have a nice day!"
Granted I'm only 2 minutes into this series of videos but the phrase "juice ain't worth the squeeze" comes to mind here. Considering how many different electronic modules & devices newer cars depend on, I can't imagine a car that's been flooded to this extent will be reliable long term without spending far more than the car's worth to replace basically everything.

As Eric @Advance Auto Diagnostics found out, Flooded cars are pain to fix. Everything and anything can shorted, corroded or just plugged up. It usually is an "Onion" layers of problems after problems.

You may have keys that work in the ignition but who even knows if the chips in the keys are programmed into the PCM and immobilizer. Proper procedure is to program the BCM with correct information, make sure the other modules have the correct VIN (even the radio) and then program the PCM. The PCM must be done from scratch with proper VIN and engine information and you might need to disable the immobilizer in order to do it because its likely that none of those keys are programmed in that PCM.

I was thinking that the BCM and PCM need to be synchronized to allow fuel enable. This is why "swaptronics" can be a nightmare sometimes. Hopefully once that is synched it will run but who knows what other problems are there. We shall see. In part 2 or maybe 3 or 4👍🤣.
It will be interesting if that different year module can be programmed. If it works, then that will be a bonus worth remembering for this particular model Ford.

@@dizzy2020 The vocabulary you are using makes it sound like you are not from the US. Ford US offers software online anybody can download for a small fee. Last time I did it, it was $50 for a 2 day subscription. You need a laptop/internet at the car, a j2534 box and software dowloaded from Ford. Download the software for bcm/pcm and program keys. Good to go. My setup consist of a used Cardaq J2534 tool I bought used off Ebay for $300, a refurbished laptop I use specifically for programming I purchased for $150. I also have a 12v jumper box I keep connected to the car to prevent power interruption during programming.
It was a given that a module VIN mismatch would cause a no-start. Gone are the days of just swapping a module from one car to the next. I had to program an audio amplifier to the VIN recently..... :rolls-eyes:
Yup, pretty much any module has to be programmed to the car now. The exception is some used modules will work once plugged in off the old vin # in the module. But you may show a mismatch code.
Gotta love the hack stuff as in the stuff that gets sold to people that should've went to a junkyard for parts. They say there's a parts shortage, used car market shortage. This car could've supplied some good parts for used wrecks, etc that need parts, unused portion could've been recycled saving even more money and not had the junk on the interstates, highways, etc.
You can't really go forward with the code set and changing things if the vin is mismatch. That's why modules don't like each other lol!! I kept thinking if the starter wire is green crusty hence no start.
That immobilizer likely got set from the car floating and bumping into objects or the tow truck process bumping the vehicle hard enough to enable it or maybe some other "crash" event.

Ivan, I think you are on the right track. BCM & ECM will need to be programmed to the vehicles Vin# But are Ford modules capable of being programmed to different Vins? (Newer GM 14 -newer says it's a NO). Flood Vehicles that have been messed with are no fun. We have worked on many Houston flood vehicles that showed up here in Iowa.

I like the new TPMS that doesn't use in tire pressure sensors, it uses what the car already has, ABS. As tire pressure drops, diameter of tire decreases, causing increase in RPM on that tire which satisfies DOT requirement of 25% low vs other tires.
My mums 2016 Honda Jazz has this method of TPMS. It's a disaster - it literally goes off non stop. I was driving it once and it went off and I ignored it and a tyre was actually deflating with a slow puncture! Meanwhile my dads Toyota Avensis has a conventional TPMS system that hasn't ever triggered.
Parameter reset should fix the configuration evrytime there are modules replaced , just like chrysler proxy configuration relearn .I would still check that power and grounds on that antitheft module.
Actually a mobile hotspot that can be throttled back for better reliability. Can't think of the word I'm looking for at the moment but Keith Perkins addressed it & many more things awhile back in a online webinar class he did. Would love to be able to capture all VIN updates, software programming software downloads, label, catalog them for future use. It can be done. I didn't think of it but saw someone say it that I know wouldn't say it in this industry unless it's possible. Maybe some day I'll go take a weekend class with their outfit and learn a few extra tricks as well. Need to sit down, study those systems a little more as when I saw the person making the comment they also made other pertinent comments in regards to this stuff. Showed me it was possible by what was said.

i dunno....but it seems to me that after a car has been significantly submerged for a day or days you would just assume that its necessary to replace every electronic component inside the car.....it would the the same as throwing an apple laptop computer in the river for a week....you wouldn't expect anything to work and the cheapest option would be to buy a new one

when will people learn to not play with flood vehicles, every single wire, computer/electronic device in there has been directly wet or had condensation wetting and penetration into everything. pretty much their only use is being stripped to only metal and used for a racing platform with custom electrical. Maybe they'll eventually learn to quit throwing away their $$$$. the only exception is flood that never went past 1/4 way up the wheels, so nothing but part of tire and rim was under. things are not like old model T fords, where you drain the water from everything refill with oil, fuel and lamp oil/candles for headlights 🤣🤪🤣🤪

I actually like being able to see my pressure.
But I can understand hating pressure based TPMS, especially when you swap wheels for winter.
Yes unless all the tyres have pressure problems like leaking rims which is very common.
Then no TPMS light will show.

In an ideal world, there would be a system rom in the original ecm/bcm that could be transfered to the working hardware.
Neveras easy as that lol.
Hopefully Ford will do it but I doubt it, they'll probably say there system won't allow it and that is probably true

The BCM and PCM are already programmed to different keys than the original....it wont crank until the new keys are programmed.

when will people learn to not play with flood vehicles, every single wire, computer/electronic device in there has been directly wet or had condensation wetting and penetration into everything.
pretty much their only use is being stripped to only metal and used for a racing platform with custom electrical. Maybe they'll eventually learn to quit throwing away their $$$$.
the only exception is flood that never went past 1/4 way up the wheels, so nothing but part of tire and rim was under.
things are not like old model T fords, where you drain the water from everything refill with oil, fuel and lamp oil/candles for headlights 🤣🤪🤣🤪

2021 - flood cars will always be a nightmare. Consider how many connectors, terminals etc will continue to corrode....

It’s not dealers are bad the have the tool to work there systems this guy changing you have the work done and in return he is getting paid just take to the dealership you’ll fix right the time that I why it coast a little more
