    If you are worried about stripping the torx bolt heads it's best to crack each one with a hand wrench first and use power tools to spin them out once loosened.

    No, 2 drain and fills will do it generally.

      Lexmandiy Sam agreed. That will be a 75 percent clean oil ratio in the box.
      That's what I usually do over the space of 2 weekends.
      Then you can forget about it for at least another 60000 miles.

    From my own experience with my Range Rover I strongly recommend you to follow the instructions of ZF in their service manual:
    www.zf.com/global/media/medien_mastersite/aftermarket/service_information/service_information_zf/transmission/cars_4/englisch_3/modelluebergreifend_1/ZF_SI_Oelwechselkit_50145_EN.pdf
    Not following the instructions for of tightening the bolts in the correct order, your pan will be leaking! Furthermore the procedure concerning the temperatures should be followed. Otherwise the transmission fluid levels will be incorrect, which will result in bad shifting and more wear.
    Changing the transmission fluid as seen in the video will not even change half of the fluid. Therefore a flush would be better.
    Having the gear box open, I would take out the mechatronics and change the seals connecting it to the upper part of the transmission.

    Hi,
    I have a 2012 xf 3.0L V6, bought few months ago it has 90,000 kms on it. I have noticed that if I park on an incline after the car is there for while when I start and put it in R or D it gives a prominent clunk sound.
    And on high revs when the gear changes I feel a small jerk. However the jerk is not there on low revs
    Do you think it has something to do with transmission oil or it's something else.

      Did you ever figure out what was wrong. I have a 2009 xf and have the same problem.

      @@AM-nf7dt I took it to jaguar service center and they said nothing is wrong with the gear !! Drove it for 80,000 Kms more and sold it 😂

    How about the oil in the torque converter? Was that oil drained too?

    • @Beer_Dad1975
      @Beer_Dad1975 9 лет назад +1

      BBGBITW No access to the converter plug (if it even has one) on the ZF6. This is exactly what ZF recommends is done. You could do a power flush but ZF do not recommend this.

      Its not DIY draining torque converter oil.

    • @joeblow3823
      @joeblow3823 7 лет назад

      So by not emptying and refilling via the oil cooler pipes you have only changed about 50% of the oil in the transmission system - as you said the oil was dirty and you still have 50% dirty oil in the transmission.

      @@joeblow3823 Can you clarify what exactly you mean by filling via the oil cooler pipes? the Torque fluid isnt accessible in the ZF? I have recently got a 2009 4.2 XKRS and getting this job done is on my to do list - not by myself but a specialist but just seeing what exactly needs done
