Hushpuppi Movie In The Making Receives Mixed Reactions!

- As Billionaire Gucci Master, Ramon Abbass A.K.A Hushpuppi is set to be sentenced to Prison in the US and named one of the most high-profile money launderers in the world. It looks like some people have begun positioning themselves to profit from his shameful story. And one of such people is renowned Nigerian media mogul and filmmaker, Mo Abudu who recently announced that she would be making a movie on the ex-Instagram Big Boy.
Taking Nigerians by surprise on August 5 of 2021, Mo took to her Instagram page to disclose that her film production company, Ebony Life Studios, has struck a partnership with American production companies Will Packer Productions and Universal Pictures to develop a yet to be titled film on Hushpuppi based on the Bloomberg article, “The Fall of Billionaire Gucci Master.” According to the television mogul, she pitched the story last year to American producers Will Packer and James Lopez, which they bought into and would later see them win rights to the article.
Adding that Ebony Life chose to tell Hushpuppi story because they understand where he is coming from as a Nigerian, Mo further teased her fans with promises that the movie will be a hybrid of crime, action, adventure, and thriller genre featuring the usual catch me if you can and suspects scenes. As expected, this has got many people wild with excitement as they can’t wait for the movie to drop in the cinemas and popular streaming platforms. Top celebrities in the country, as well as her die-hard fans, have also been congratulating her on this feat.
However, the joy is conflicted. Some other Nigerians are not too pleased with Mo for making a movie on Hushpuppi. They have equally reacted negatively while condemning the move, pointing that there are more important Nigerian stories that can take the spot.

The critiques of Mo Abudu illustrates that Nigerians don’t understand the business behind entertainment and film making.
