im glad he talked about his upbringing in the UK. A lot of Americans think that blacks in the UK dont/didnt get racially abused over here and thats why a lotof people think racism is different from here and the US. (No wonder they all looked shocked) Trust me, its the same, only difference is you have enforced a gun control policy that has stemmed a bigger issue for the discriminatory crime. Racial discrimination is still an issue here in the UK. I even remember when samuuel l jackson said that Daniel from Get Out didnt deserve the role and that they should have got a black American instead of a british black man because they dont understand the racial abuse. That was disheartening to hear, especially as he is a fellow black actor who knows the struggle to get roles and to put another new black actor down like that was unfair. racism is prevalent everywhere in the world, not just the US. I had to say this because i feel like a lot of Americans think otherwise and are narrowminded.
Very true, and also let’s not forget how British media and television acted like people of colour didn’t exist by making sure they didn’t put them in anything on prime time tv, that’s probably another reason why Americans don’t know Britain is diverse as popular British shows they watch are 99% white actors.

Akintunde Laleye yeah but that probably offended him because he would consider himself British first then Nigerian. Saying he’s born in Nigeria and raised by white people makes it think as if a couple went to Africa to adopt a kid when it reality his parents were immigrants who couldn’t afford to raise him since they were poor and had to focus on obtaining university degrees to embetter their economic situation.
