Venus’ game is so fun to watch tbh
Being powerful was such a big advantage in the 90s. Being powerful and athletic was like a cheat code, but from the 2000s onwards it became the basic necessity to become a top player. Camilla Giorgi was very powerful, yet didn't achieve much. Venus won a lot more because there was much more to her game than power.
I agree! Venus & Serena was sooo much more than power but the tennis world just loves to subject them too power! Venus net game was always top tier
@MrCreative242 It's just pure hate. They don't have a problem with Mary Pierce, Davenport and Monica Seles being powerful. When the Williams sisters use their power, it's described as brute force. They try to simplify their game to just power. Power alone won't win you so much in the 21st century.
Camila has a very small stature. She has considerable power for her size but so did everyone in the 2000. a lot of people have power but not everyone has weapons. the difference is that the Williamses had reliable weapons that they can count for winning matches and getting them out of trouble. Venus's weapons diminished as she got older but she also didnt capitalize fully on others (wingspan, volleying skills) . Serena's weapons stayed throughout her career and she lifted her entire game in the process.

Venus has always been able to throw down bombs but the fact that she put in the work necessary to improve her service motion so late in her career is an astounding testament to her greatness and love for the game.
Camila giorgi, has powerful ground strokes, but she is to arrogant, she believes she's the only coca-cola in the desert. The way she shakes hands with her opponents at the end of every match, says it all.
She is such a champion and an inspiration.

The last win is so impressive. I can't believe the commentator said she's 43 years old there. Longest match of her career, wins two tiebreaks. Both strike a very flat ball.
Giorgi is a ball basher, Venus is a power player, huge difference.
Venus is amazing against players with big, flat groundstrokes (Azarenka, Giorgi, Dementieva, Date Krumm). If a player had these shots + a big serve, she struggled more (Keys, Davenport, Sharapova).

When Serena lost all her muscle after birth, she started getting thumped... and injured.
