Your rafters turned out amazing. Another step done. Yah! Mel, I loved what you said in your voice-over. It was full of truth and wisdom. May God continue to bless you all.
❤ When you get the Zip board on and sealed off where no water can leak through it you'll be ready for the metal roofing. Yay.. Happy Happy Happy. Great job Gary and Mel.
Wow ! As you were saying it I was thinking it Mel ! I couldn’t see how that porch roof was gonna join until I watched this ! Bit by bit step by step ! Thanks to you and Gary for making that confusing roof line ( for me ) make sense ! 😊 Happy New Years! From Staffordshire UK 🇬🇧
You are so welcome! I completely understand it being confusing until you can SEE IT. Thats why i always joke and say im a "visual learner' 😂 Piece by piece, day by day, it's gettin there! One day at a time. Wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful holiday season. Blessings friend!
I don't usually comment but when I do it's because you two have WOWED ME. I'm here just SMH at how pretty those rafters looked once it was all done. The awesome progress ya'll have made as a tag team, is absolutely a pride moment for you two. Great job!!!!
Hi Mel & Gary!! That looks beautiful Gary!! The math was obviously mathing lol!! Great job you guys!! I can’t wait for the next step! Much love from the south central area of PA. 💜
Love the look of success !!! Those rafters need to be photographed and framed in the house so you can look back at a glance and remember all the perserverance and skill levels you attained in building your home for generations!!!❤❤❤ Well done!!
In the future, if you want to make installs like this easier, clamp a 2x4 under the end of the outside -most rafter tail. Let it stick out about 18 inches. Nail another 2x4 chunk to the end of that vertically and you have a hook to rest the rafter in. If you know the location where the attachments will be, pre-screws some screws in to sink once the board starts to go in. Use your speed square to plane the rafter tails and edge board together.
Thank you so much Auntie Laura ❤ it's been a lot of blood sweat and tears to make it this far, but day by day we're gettin there. Thank you for always lovin on us. I hope you had a wonderful holiday season sweetheart ❤
I have to admire you Mel, overcoming your fear of heights and getting up on top of the porch to help nail down the boards that needed it , wasn’t as easy as some people may think.. I too have a fear of heights so , I can relate..
You are doing an amazing job with your build of your home. So proud of both of you. I love to listen to Gary taking measurements and figuring out what he needs to do. Big pat on the back Gary you are unbelievable. Love watching you all. Hang in there your doing great. Thank you for taking us along. Take care from Cape Cod❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🇺🇸✌️
Looks good, IS GOOD! One step further again. Next step looks big, but it is all 4 x 8 sheets, but yes, one full sheet and then measure to do the next. But is think that it all will be faster than the framing of the roof and then the ice and watershield. And then the rain/snow may come for then there is plenty of inside work to do in the meantime! Congratulations on your achievement and perseverance!!
Mel, I love the equation graphics you put in when Gary is doing his over thinking thing. Makes me laugh! It all makes the payoff that much more triumphant in the end.
Wow! You are rocking this! I am curious about what you did for work before. Your attention to detail is crazy. The home that you are building will be there for many generations to come. You and your family have a reason to be proud! Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Yeaaaah!! You know if we had a boat lying around that we could cut the bottom off you would have what you needed. You could turn the cut portion of the boat upside down and nail it to your roof. But I like what you both have done lots lots better. And I'm willing to bet what you put together is loads stronger. Also hope you had a wonderful Christmas. Me southern AZ.
Oh my gosh you guys, job well done! i'm so happy for your progress and Mel, girl you were rocking those rafers like a pro! You are so brave! It's looking fantastic. I'm looking forward to the next step. Have a beautiful, safe day. 💕
Sorry I haven’t been watching your videos every day here lately but my sister decided to come and stay a few days with me and my granddaughters after her husband’s funeral and I am so happy that she did I have been worried about her adjusting to living alone and I know she’s grieving for her husband and I have been there too and I know it’ll just take time but I love you guys too and I have been missing you I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and I look forward to seeing you guys continue on your journey and I am just waiting to see Gary get his buck out there in the woods
Aw, that is so sweet. I understand, family comes first, always. Take all the time tou need. I lost my dad on Dec 20th, 2020... Its been 4 years and i still get choked up and need to take some time every now and then. So please, take care of your mental health and stay positive. Send our love to your sister as well. Hey;;;looks like a professional did it;;;looks good;;;I was gonna come up and have xmas dinner with yall and help ya on the roof but my tricycle nas two flat tires and a broken pedal and my motor kinda weak;;;skips a beat every now and then;;;;lol;;;heyi if ya don[t get another one out before;;;;HAPPY NEW YEAR;;;;
Gary apparently u didn't read a comment from a construction worker about your the placement of your safety rope. Should be connected to your back and not the front and I noticed you have it connected to the front. If u fell off backward then you liable to hurt your back.
Gary your an Alpha man My hat off to you Your building a home for your wife and children God bless you 🙏 Have a great new year with your amazing family
