Hey Steve, thanks for the video. Great to see “fishing” vids this time of year when so many are doing “buying” videos. Rain last week raised Folsom by 6 ft but rise has slowed and weather conditions going forward are looking dry. Good luck out there and thanks for tips, sitting definitely helps to slow down.
Those last two were chunks! So great to see some fish on the line. The bad weather has kept me inside the last two weekends, (It's got me downright irritable!) so looking forward to getting back on the water somewhere this Saturday. Tight lines everyone!
Hi Steve, deepvbasser here... my brother brought his split shot setup from fishing Folsom and left it rigged for the delta a month ago. Long story short, 4lb 14oz on his 2nd cast. We were both laughin' because I never thought to split shot in the delta ( my brother does; he changes rigs constantly if he doesn't get bit and split shot is one of his go-to rigs no matter where we go). We don't actually use split shot; we use 1/16 - 1/8 bullet pegged or behind and between 2 bobber stops. So very nice to see your success with it and bringin' it back to light! Nice vid! Hope to run into ya at Paradise again.
I know this rig as the MOJO rig really effective. I use it where there is submerged grass to bring a bait over the top without sinking into the grass. It Works like magic!
Great Info Steve. Im trying to get back on the water. Between Vacations, work and family priorities, I won't be on the water for a week or two. I'm having withdrawals. Great info. I'll be setting up some rods for this technique..
@In Deep on the Delta with Steve Cooper lol I can't help it. I was in Fiji.. back for 3 days then Aruba home for a day now I gotta go to Seattle for a week..lol. I've been dreaming of fishing.. you're out here having success and I'm stuck on land lol
Thats a loaded question. There is no one answer but on the delta it's actually a little simpler to make some educated guesses. When you have a full moon or a no moon, the gravitational pull on the earth is at it's greatest so the tides and tidal coefficients will be at there highest. Good strong tides usuall make for better fishing. Match the moon phase and the tide, usuall the first hour or two when the tide starts moving and you will usuall find that the bite window will be in that time frame. Fish the full moons latter in the day-fish the no moon early in the morning. Next weeks video - Part two of Forgotten Finesse Technique - Will show the exact bite window when the fish were biting and why I had a good idea when the bite window would happen.
Love the split shot rig. A technique most people forget about.
It's been forgotten. As you can see by the thumb nail ,it was first introduced by the early Egyptians.

Thanks for the up date on folsom. Sitting down also saves my back and allows me to fish for longer periods of time without as much fatigue.

I know the irritable feeling. It only takes a few fish to get me back on track.. Thanks for watching-happy holidays.
Shhhhhhh! 🤫🤫🤫
Definitely a tried and true technique!! Thanks (I think) for "dragging" this one out of the bag!!
Always solid info! 👊💪👍
Hi Cam, I guess you have been a busy man this time of year. Have you had any time to get out on the water?
Winter fishing is here. It's finesse time even on the delta.

Thanks Deep V. I need to start fishing with you. 4 pound fish have been hard to come by.

You got the dirt Agent47. Love to catch fish on this rig year round.
Good stuff. Will have to try that setup. Thanks👍
Let me know how you like it.

Thanks Steve, look forward to trying this on Saturday. Steve regarding moon phases what moon is the worst time in the month?

Hi Steve, what knot do you use for braid to mono leader connection?
I use the Alberto knot. I use 9 turns and make sure when you cinch the knot that you cinch it tight so the knot visibly compresses.
Hey Steve, was that a medium power or medium action rod? Thx. Great info.
I use a MH Carado spinning rod. Anything that has some back bone to set with with out a real fast tip will work.
Found a school last thurs at bridge last hour out going tide on shady side cought 8- 1 to 2lb in 40 minutes on jersey bait quit biting at slack tide
Sounds like fun E. Thanks for the report and any 8 fish day on the delta under winter conditions is a good day.
Catching em sitting down like Bill Dance
Wow, I'm getting old.
You need a 1:1 reel so you feel you're still power fishing. lol.
Hey-thats a great Idea, I'm calling shinano.
