I know Im prob gonna be the only person here to say this but, I prefer Gen 2. I know every doom guy is all about that low end and I agree it does sound good but, once it's in a mix via a recording or a live setting it disappears. For that reason I have replaced all my fuzz pedals with tone bender style pedals and let the bassist take care of the low end. IDK just my experience.
Great shoot! I just wanna point out that Fender 1-10 knobs are on the 1st gen here. Sunn knobs go 0-10 so Fender 1 is Sunn 0, Fender 4 is sunn 3. 50% on both will be fender 5,5. And it doesn't even matter anyway ;D Just my nerdy side. Even two 1st gens don't sound the same.

They are both great but when you ran the Rat on both, the 1st gen killed it. Not sure if it's because of the scooped mids in the 2nd gen though. In any case, great work! I haven't seen many videos testing 1st and 2nd gen.
I'd be happy with either to be fair, is there anything cheaper with a similar tone? I can't afford these, no way, one can dream I guess, the Sunn Beta lead sounds good to, you can get those cheaper still am I right? What does the guys from Tribal Gaze use, same as Trevor Peres? Sound similar, ahh fuck sorry, just interested in certain sounds, you guys hear Dopesmoker n think Sleep, I think of the band from Wales in the UK haha

@@MattiaDongili yea it looks scooped but actually is not the mid selector is on 1.5k so u have to turn down the mids on the knob.
You can get the Sunn/Fender 1200S for like 600 bucks now when they're around - hybrid monoblock that shoves 1.2kW into 2 ohms. :-)
