Ok let's cut to the chase. This is one of the finest house record of all time. This has everything, the solid organ groove, the beautiful vocals.. Then the piano kicks in....... ! No wonder this vinyl still commands a $50 price tag.
First heard this on Laurent Garnier's Mixmag Live #19- back in 1994. Soon as i heard this blended into Lady B's- The Groove Is Going- i had to trainspot it down. Pre internet, online ordering, all that etc,etc...called Submerge direct from my humble digs in Melbourne, Australia. A guy on the the other ends picks up "Yo, this is Mike". Unbeknownst to me at the time, the chap i was talking to and was about to purchase five copies off was the man himself. Good times:)
I first head this on Laurent Garnier Mixmag Live cd and instantly fell in love with it and played it to death, constantly skipping to that track resulting in the cd being scratched and pretty much ruined. Anyway the years have passed - I had kids, hadn’t been clubbing for years, then this year, with a stroke of luck my eldest brother gave me a free ticket to Defected Croatia and this absolute beauty was played by Underground Resistance. The opening tune on their set and I can’t explain how unbelievably happy this made me feel. The mushroom juice I’d consumed made the moment extra magical 🍄🤪🧙🏻♂️✨✨✨✨

Was at castlemorton nye 92-93. These one of my happiest and most emotional memories ever. Eyes like saucers.....diy, mr mulatto, will never forget. So fortunate to be rhe right age at the right time. 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
@@arlodudds8074 Yes mate, I was at that one too, think it was DiY nye 92-93 near Bath you mention, really foggy on the way there if memory serves, great party, the music was top notch all night, great days..
I wish I was alive to experience this era of house first hand, early 90s deep house is filled with soul while still completely making you want to move. I love all the diva vocals of the era as well, something about them just spread good vibes.
+Don Stacks Kumar it really was an awesome time as house peaked in 93-96 imho. the late 80s were also great even though the electronic music was objectively worse that early on in terms of production values. it was a total revolution on the musical stage however, the likes of which haven't happened since. the formative years of electronic dance music (roughly 88-94 i'd say), when all the main electronic genres developed (house, techno, acid, drum n bass, trance, hardcore) really were something else, not only because of the many now classic trax, but because everything was totally new and unheard of before. you'd go to a club one day and not only hear a new track you'd like, but a whole new genre that you didn't even imagine. since then nothing drastically new happened, it's all been marginal improvements/tweaks, a slow evolution, or even regression unfortunately. i don't know how old you are and what could be a comparable marker for you, but try to imagine the difference between there not being an internet at all to first having access to it, and the difference between upgrading your internet connection from 10mbit to 20mbit. sure it's nice having twice the bandwidth, but dl-ing a file in 10 instead of 20 seconds won't blow anyone's mind. first getting the chance to do everything you can on the internet at all though, that's a game changer.
+tubsent I agree with absolutely everything you said. I've lived in Berlin all my life and it was so incredible to really see how the music came along and how it evolved into its different branches first hand. And after the wall came down and the whole of East Berlin was there for the taking, things really went through the roof. I'm eternally grateful to have been around when it all happened. Eternally grateful. End of story. 😉
renderizer01 cheers mate, i'm sure that the wall coming down in berlin must have given that special time a further dimension still. there was this whole pervasive feeling of unity through music on the scene anyway, to then have it compounded with the demolition of the iconic wall, built specifically to separate people, pure extasy, if you'll excuse the pun ;)
+tubsent The great thing was that East Berlin was so completely in ruins. Half demolished buildings everywhere. As I said: All there for the taking. Illegal parties a-plenty. In with the gear, one night of wild partying, out with the gear next morning. Gone and done. Brilliant. And of course we thought it would go on like that forever. Berlin was one big wonderland. The frontier. Beautiful.
Remember loving this tune so much around 2000 I ordered the record via mail. Three weeks later it hadn't arrived and had messed me around. I drove 60 miles to the shop to confront the guy there and then to hand over.

+Arthur Postma - Although it's produced by Mad Mike Banks, this is definitely not Detroit Techno. It's US Garage. +Arthur Postma - Disagree. It's definitely got an early 90's US Garage sound like MAW, Chez Damier, Ron Trent, Kerri Chandler, Blaze, 95 North, Smack Productions, Victor Simonelli & Tommy Musto, Basement Boys, Terrence Parker etc. That's why Humphries, Vega, Knuckles, Morales etc were playing the shit out of all of Banks tracks off Happy Records back in the day and why most of the aforementioned producers were doing remixes for Happy at the time.
