    Beautiful job! Do you by any chance know how much a rack setup on top like that, with the tent and such in place, how much that will drop average mpg by? Especially on long highway drives. And if I put one of those sloped windscreens infront of it, how much that might lessen the drop off of average mpg? That mpg effect is really my main concern. Thanks.

    Would love to see an install video of the 10" LED. I read through the instructions and the first step is cutting and splicing the wire?

    • @OffRoadTents
      @OffRoadTents  3 года назад +1

      This particular light has been discontinued, but still, it's not that hard to install.
      I guess my question to you is if you mean the installation to the rack? Because if so, the light includes a mounting bracket system, which bolts onto the upper lip of the frame of the Slimline, and you just tighten it, top and bottom.
      As to installation of the light itself to get power. No permanent wiring is required. Just run a power cord (not included) from your vehicle 12v accessory outlet to one of the 2 receptacles in bracket. The additional receptacle can be used to simultaneously power the light and other 12v accessories.

      @@OffRoadTents Not the light to the rack, the wiring of the two power plugs that attach to the lightbar (prior to rack installation).

    they really cashed in on the t slot, it;s great geear and if you're just amature diy it's perfect but if you know what's up you can save a fortune by putting together/modding used kits. there's easy over 5k of gear there if bought it direct. I put together a bunch of brand new random frontunner kits to build same as this basically and only paid 1k. Also, No way I would ever pay retail for the accessories, great gear but so expensive. The Track is what makes it special and that's the basis for all addons. once you have that you can do your own accessories for 1/10th or less

    the slimline II rack for my prado 90 sits super far away from the roof of the car, because they try to accomodate factory installed roof bars, but mine doesn't have any. Do you think it's possible to modify the legs by removing length from them to get the rack closer to the car?

      Hi Paolo! No, they don't turn themselves loose. They're really well screwed. It is an excellent idea to be constantly checking them, but we have personally used and tested them on HEAVY off road trails and conditions and everything has worked perfectly. Hope that helps, have a great day!!

    Do you have any corrosion or rust on the hardware? I'm seeing some of this pop up when researching this rack. I was all set to get the Front Runner, but it seems the powder coating isn't sticking good after a few years and the hardware can rust sooner.

    • @nicklee9256
      @nicklee9256 2 года назад +1

      Agree, it’s more like cheap paint rather than powder coat paint and the hardware always seems to rust ie nuts and bolts…. Also had a couple of the nuts in the track spin in its place so I had to use epoxy glue to allow me to mount the rack into the roof these were the mounting points so I could not use a different slat.

    Unfortunatley you are Wrong. Load Capacity doenst matter what Rack you use is based on the Load Roof Capacity of yout Vehicle Roof. 75kg or 100kgs etc. Minus the Rack weight.

    • @OffRoadTents
      @OffRoadTents  3 года назад

      Hey Cris! In the video we are talking about the Slimline II Roof Rack Load Capacity, which is 660 lbs. We do understand there is a difference with the load capacity of each vehicle. Nevertheless, this is a review on the Roof Rack itself and not on the vehicle's roof load capacity.

    • @CHRIS_CREATIONS
      @CHRIS_CREATIONS 3 года назад +1

      I have the Exact same Front Runner Flat Rack. The Rack istelf is Rated to 660lbs but the Roof Mounting Rails are NOT. How much load can be support on the 2 side mounting Rail points on the Roof which depending on Model of the Vehicle 75kg to 120kg Per side Mounting Rail. Minus the Weight of the Front Runner Rack......Do your Research youll See that I am ABSOLUTLY Correct! Just hate seeing false information out their!

    • @OffRoadTents
      @OffRoadTents  3 года назад +7

      @@CHRIS_CREATIONS Chris, we are not saying you are wrong, actually you are completely right. The roof of each particular vehicle has different weight capacities. The Roof (and roof rails) can take a certain amount of weight and this number is provided by the vehicle manufacturer.
      So, the vehicle's roof weight capacity will limit of the amount of weight you can put on your roof rack and we always recommend that people stay within the capacity of the roof.
      In this video we are talking about the Front Runner rack itself. The Slimline II tray can take 660 lbs.
      The Front Runner racks normally can take on a lot more weight than the vehicle's roof. But again, we advise to stay within the vehicle manufacturer limits.
      We don't want to confuse you or anybody. It's good that you raised the subject so everything can be clearer. The idea is that anyone seeing our videos can enjoy safely their adventures.

    All these roof racks seem like a fuckton of money for barely any extra luggage due to the weight limit.

    • @BaldKiwi117

      What do you mean barely any? What are you packing that's over 200 pounds?

    • @2pacorwhat
      @2pacorwhat Год назад

      @@BaldKiwi117 considering most of these pickups are rated at around 3 ton towing capacity it's just a measly extra 50 kg if you extract the weight of the rack itself.

  • @OverlandingNL

    So much accessories, but I hope people do look at this and realise their roofs probably can't support all that stuff.. My roof is rated to 80 KG.. With a rack and a RTT it's almost maxed.. I see vehicles (also the same make and model I have) with the rack, RTT, boxes added with so much weight in them and also an awning strapped to the side. I just know it's over weight.. not safe at all..
