Can't do the job without torque specs.
    13mm caliper bolts: 35nm (25.8 ft-lbs)
    21mm caliper bracket bolts: 200nm (147.5 ft-lbs)
    Wheel lugs: 140nm (103.2 ft-lbs)
    Otherwise, nice video!

Used this video to change my wife’s brakes just now. I’m fairly mechanically inclined. Maybe slightly above average. Just knowing what size tools I needed when helped a ton instead of me making 10 trips to the toolbox. Appreciate you!

Just did the brakes on my 2019 VW Atlas family car using this video and it worked perfectly. Honestly a perfect video. No words needed, just clear visuals of each step, and text to show each tool needed. Volkswagen wanted $1,300 to do them. I instead paid $125 on partsgeek and maybe $18 for some high end lube. Parts got here in 4days. Took about 2.5 hours but it was my first time. Thanks!

Nice 👍 glad to hear. VWs can get pretty expensive sometimes. Almost like Audi prices.

Awesome video!! Nice and easy, quick brake job, and idk about you but it always feels much nicer to drive around knowing you have fresh brakes on.
I have a few things to say though:
    1. I think that's the 21mm deep socket that I thought I lost out of my toolbox at work hahahaha (unless you also have a Craftsman impact set)
    2. I noticed you didn't clean the inside of the calipers slider bore because it still had good grease in there. I do the same thing and i had someone in the comments one time tell me all about how I was doing it wrong hahaha so I'm happy to see I'm not alone. I usually only clean the bore if it's rusty or has old dried up grease. If it's still good grease, I wipe the pin and re-grease, done.
    3. I am very curious to know more about the theory of putting grease or "Disk Brake Quiet" paste on the back of the pads. I would like to learn more from someone that has had experience with this. Why should you? Why shouldn't you? I never know what the right thing is.
    4. You didn't say a word the entire time, yet you provided every detail there is to know and showed how to do the job right. Well done!
Keep it up! You're doing better than me at this point hahaha

Where do you jack from so that you can use the pinch welds for your stands? Near the end of the video it looks like your floor jack is near the control arm?

What a great video! Only thing that would’ve made it better. We’re putting the torque specs in red up on the screen like you did the wrench sizes. Otherwise everything a guy could’ve hoped for in regards to a tutorial. Thanks for putting this together.

I have two 2018's I'm doing for a friend this weekend. I would like to position my jack stand(s) at the pinch weld as you show in the video but I'm always a little unsure about where to place the floor jack. 😲 Any tips? Thank you! Great video btw!!

    • @AndyTheXTech
      @AndyTheXTech  Год назад +1

Yes, this is always a struggle to try to get the jackstands under. So carefully, I have two jacks that I go in from the front. I go under the control alarms. You have to make sure that they don’t slip out. There may be some area on the sub frame that might be safer. Be careful, but that’s how I did it.

Take the cap off the brake reservoir when pushing back the pistons..? 🤔

@AndyTheXTech Just thinking about the times a mechanic saw my fluid low and topped it off. I definitely recommend checking fluid level and if it's at a high level with thin pads, use a turkey baster or other suction device to remove an ounce or two before pushing back the pistons. Otherwise, overflow will occur...ask me how I know lol

Very well done, but i just don´t like the way people soak their wheel hubs with thick and uneven layers of anti-seize grease, because the problem is, liquids and greases just won´t compress. To my knowlegde the connection between wheel hub and the inner plate of the break-rotor has to be very nice clean and dry. You really want concentricity on your wheels when they turn.
