What was Vince smoking to book Mabel to Win King of the Ring anyway?! Vince has had a lot of missed opportunities over the years. The KOTR Final match that should have been booked should have been Shawn Michaels vs The Undertaker with HBK booked to go over to be crowned KOTR (considering that he won the old WWF World Title @ WrestleMania XII the following year) and it could have spawned a Heart Break King gimmick too!
You guys should do "Top ten wrestlers who could have good matches with anyone." Ex: Aj styles, Ric Flair, Shawn Michael's and Bret Hart. I would love to see the other wrestlers you guys can think of.

About Jeff Jarrett not being in the King of the Ring, he was defeated by the Undertaker in their qualifying match. The fact that the Undertaker cleanly beat the Intercontinental Champion at that time helped to build up the Undertaker and made me think even more that the Undertaker was going to win the King of the Ring.
I agree that was done for that reason and to make Mable's victory that more surprising and get him over for his title match at Summerslam. The problem is, that it didn't work and Mable was never over. They wanted the King of the Ring to fight the Champion at Summerslam and most likely they didn't want a face vs face match between Taker and Diesel there. For Diesel his face-turn was not long ago, so turning him heel again would be bad story-telling. On the other hand, if they turned Taker heel, they wouldn't have been happy about the crowd reaction, because most likely the people would have cheered Taker over Nash, not matter who was heel or face.
even better, Vince wanted Mabel to beat Diesel for the world title. MABEL Thankfully, the Kliq in their only smart move convinced Vince against it, thank GOD
If they bring back the KOTR tournament, it should be a MITB type tournament, where the winner gets a "royal contract" allowing them to have it to be signed by the ref when they cash it in

Yes, I was a young'in back then and this was well before I realized that Vega was previously Kwang but once the HBK/Kama match went to a draw, and the Undertaker put over Mabel, I thought that this would have been an opportunity to get Savio Vega over. Yes, I imagine that statement is as ridiculous now as it would have been back in 1995, but he did beat 3 guys in I.R.S, Yokozuna (who was still a tag-team champion at the time, and also at his heaviest but I digress) and the Roadie, so I thought even through all its scripted lore, that was still an impressive feat. Plus never being much of an HBK fan, I was glad they didn't give him the win. Not like he needed it anyways.
