If your temperature is so hot, why not manually open both the coolant doors prior to combat? I do this all the time and I can go do a lot of full throttle stuff without overheating at all!
Yep if ur doing a lot maneuvers at low speed ur engine will not be able to cool properly, cause speed cools engine, however radiator flap full open gives a bit of an exhaust speed boost.
Loved it. I am having trouble keeping the bird level in turns. Or banks. To stay behind is not that hard as long as it stays level on me.. But it keeps rolling under on me. So needing to counter that, I lose my turn/bank and not long after he/she is on my tail. I do use the flaps tho. And it seemed to help against 1. 2 vs I And I got 1. He left his wing man. AHHHA
so some may give you shit about "this or that" but for ME...this helped with my whole concept of the MERGE...I have DCS F16c, F18 Hornet, Harrier, FC3, Huey, Gazelle, Spitfire, and various associated mission/maps blah blan blan..anywhoo..."I" decided to go back old school to the WW2 and follow that concept forward enjoying the advancement along the way
+racingtheweb You could try using Padlock or the mouse :/ Honestly, try to get a tracking device :0 There are some very cheap solutions from FreeTrack to building your own TrackIr. Good luck!
+Zabuza I know It is unrelated to this topic, but did somehow change the sound of your Mustang? It sounds way more realistic and doesn't sound like the default sound of of the engine. I watched videos of real Mustangs and I noticed that the engine sounds in DCS don't quiet nail it. How did you change your sound?
+Magic_Zach Your correct, I used an audio mod from diveplane. You can download his sound mods at: www.lockonfiles.com/profile/180365-diveplane/content/?type=downloads_file
Zabuza Thanks! Sounds way more realistic like the real mustang. I have a problem though: I don't know how to install mods for DCS. xD Any references or anything for that?
I was watching your engine gauges carefully and saw that despite your coolant and oil temps (MAP at 61 and RPM pegged more that 90% of the), often staying well into the red the engine never quit...?
Brian Shepa As a P-51 “Master” Master defined as having more than 15,000 hours played, the engine of the P-51 is really nice putting well into the red before quitting. Also in dogfighting the engine itself will constantly heat and unheat, this frequently temp difference seems to react will with the engine and no damages can occur for a long time.
I noticed you're slow on your trigger. You're not firing sometimes to let your enemy run into your bullets. I am a firm user of the flaps to push the whole plane in turns. But kill your speed too. Good flying.
Has nobody ever told you about deflection-shooting? You just place the reticle on the target and shoot! You did well when you deployed partially the flaps while manoeuvering nose-down, but you should have retracted them immediately when your enemy started to pull up and you did the same to follow him. Whenever you climp up you need full throttle with emergency power when available and the least possible loss of energy, so deployed flaps are a disadvantage in this case.
Chris Snakeeyed305 this is a K14 the reticle is computer movable compensating the maneuvers it needs to be strait over the target to get a hit even in maneuvers
Very Nice Video Zabuza. Very helpful in deed. Look forward to more helpful tutorials.
Very nice! It helped me a lot, waiting for more!
I'm most impressed that your engine didn't blow. Trying to figure it out still...
Great video! Can you do another for jet fighting with missiles?
Especially about VBR engagments, avoiding missiles, and closing the distance for guns?
+SpaceNavy90 Maybe somewhere in the future, for the Mirage or so... maybe^^
+Zabuza Fingers crossed! I subbed, so hopefully I can see some more in the future!
Can't wait for that M2000 beta to come out.
Very judicious use of your guns. Good technique.
Great video. Clear and easy showed.
Interesting format. Text explanations. You have a new subscriber..

+Magic_Zach Well, as far as I remember, they where fully opened^^
Oh. Ok then.

Do you know what is the corner speed for P51D?
+Ale Ball Yes, it is about 280mp/h and the turn radius is 550ft.
Okay thank you very much!
That seems a little low, i can never pull 8g turns at 280. More like 350-400 iirc.
Andromedarr What engine configuration did you test at? According to American manuals the proper set up is 3000RPM and Rich Mixture.
You say "don't lose sight", but how if you don't have TrackIR?

How to use the P51-D:
1) DO NOT TURNFIGHT

Hi! Do you play sometime in Il2 1946
Nope :)
Super video

Your plane doesn't sound right...gun and engine sounds different...
+Magic_Zach I used an audio mod, see the post above.
