1:45 my experience pretty much. Had the Aero strung with 50 lbs, got discomfort in my elbows (I am also a beginner, probably not hitting the one-handed backhand very clean anyway), switched to 45 lbs tension, and now the discomfort is pretty much gone. next time may even try 42 lbs, but 45 lbs seems good so far.
Great review, we work with babolat alot but they obviously give biased account of this racket so it’s good to know those extra details before we get them on the shelves! Great work Jonas as usual.
Hi Tennisnerd, You can test the Pure Aero Tour 2019. It's a totally different racquet compared to the original version of Pure Aero. Totally an optimized version of Pure Aero. Super powerful on spin and serve speed. Many people ignore this powerful racquet.
I also play the new Aero with RPM Rough 24 kg. I played 2 Years with Head Speed MP and Solinco Tourbite Soft (also 24 kg), but my new Set up is amazing. New Aero is by far more forgiving and the Spin and Power is mind blowing. @Jonas I don't think you've done a Rpm Rough review yet, have you?
Hi Stephan, I never found the Aeros to be great for my one-hander (might be more me than the racquets) they just feel more natural on the two-hander to me. Same with this one. Cheers
Hey Jonas. Thx for the video! If you’re still working on the Extreme Auxetic review, as a 360+ Tour and 360+ Pro user i would love to see your opinion about: - Cancelation of the Pro - Impact of denser string pattern in the MP - Is an update worth it? 360+ Tour to AuxTour or 360+ Pro to AuxMP
You are absolutely correct about this racket. It is really stiff. It is my first time having problems with a tennis elbow when I used this racket. esp with RPM blast string damn that stings on the arm. But I made adjustments , lower tension at 50 lbs lesser stiff string Luxillon Alu power soft. Makes an ocean of difference.
gotta say, i prefer the 2019 aero, i play with the bannana so maybe im biased but i hate gloss. my main racquet is a rf 97 so i guess this really isnt for me
Between new aero and new Extreme Mp, Which is more maneuverable and easy ti swing through the air and generally less tiring for the arm? I often play with 285 grams
They dont not compare. Ezone is yonex control and power frame. You should be asking about the vcore 95 or the vcore 100 or 98 that's yonex version of pure aero.
I currently use a 2019 pure aero. I am a 40 year old 4.0 player. I hit with a lot of top spin on my forehead, and fairly flat back hand. I love the Pure Aero for this top spin. But I have begun to develop shoulder issues and am looking for a replacement racket that would be better for my arm. Could you suggest some demos that might be top spin friendly? Thanks!!
I would give the VCore 98 or 100 a try and the EZone 98 or 100. The EZone is just a touch less spin friendly than the VCore but still great spin potential. To me the EZone also felt a touch softer and more friendly to flat shots. On the other hand, you can sort of think of the VCore as a bit more arm friendly and controlled Pure Aero. For what it’s worth I used a PA 2016 for a little while in college, then switched to the EZone DR98. I finally just got around to changing rackets and I ended up with this 2023 PA, slightly customized. For me it bridges the gap between the two well. A bit more control and comfort than the PA 2016, and a bit more free power and spin than the DR98.
Hello jonas, sorry for the late reply but if you compare it with dunlop sx300 2020 version (not current, first release of sx 300) which one is more controlled?
is this model ever gone on sale? and considering that the new 2024 model probably coming out soon do you guys think it would? (looking at past babolat releases perhaps?)
thanks man! I am a Radical user, I tried Pure Aero 2019 and I felt that it would be better to have something that has a bit more control. So possibly I would switch to a new Pure Aero. Still dont know if Pure Aero VS or Extreme Tour is a better choice for me (haven’t tried these yet). Could you please compare those three? Appreciate your work anyway!
As a 5 year radical user and recent extreme tour owner, I can compare those two. Radical is lower launch angle, much harsher on arm, better control, better defense (comparing radical pro 310g to extreme tour 305g). Extreme tour is insanely good maneuverability, very stable for that weight class, higher launch and very nice bite on the ball.
@@gregbishopmav brilliant, thanks man. That is always what I assume for good spin with radical you have to provide a clean stroke with perfect timing. Extreme and Pure Aero will help with that I guess.

I play with a Six one 95 from 2003 at the moment which I feel "at home with" but not sure how long that will be since I test all the time. Racquets are so personal so it's hard to say.
hello tennis nerd. i agree with ur comments in terms of string. I struggled with my RPM blast on this one at 50lbs. What sort of string u can recomend with this new pure aero? Any luxilon products? and tension. ur suggestion is much apreciated. thanks
Hi. Do you know when they would release the pure aero 98 2023? Can you make a video between the new pure aero and yonex vcore 98? Thanks. I always watch your racquet reviews, specially the part of comfort for the elbow.
Like this Racket. My first pure aero. Not harsh on the arm. Controlled topspin and no issue with my one handed backhand. Weiss cannon Silberstring, 1,25, 24/23kg. Good feel in case of volley and dropshot.
@tennisnerd I’m playing the 2022 Head Speed MP as an aggressive baseline player. I use a semi western grip and like pace. Would the aero line be better to switch to? I’ve never played the aero. Slowly switching from Wilson’s pro staff series after 10 years. Couldn’t generate enough pop with the prostaff.
I had the speed MP and found it has so much power that it was hard to control in a match. I have been using a pure aero and feel like I can swing out more and trust that it will go in. If you like to swing through the ball it's a no-brainer to switch in my opinion
I tried this racquet today and it felt good to me. I am 43 yrs old NTRP 4.0/4.5 player with bit of elbow issue. I use Yonex ezone 98 with Gosen Sidewinder (a very soft poly). I really like Babolat PA. I would also like to try Wilson Clash 98, but there are no demo racquets for that. Hence asking you, i will only choose Wilson Clash for it's comfort. i want to know your opinion between Babolat Pure Aero (RA 65) Vs Wilson Clash 98 V2 (R 60) for my particular case. Can I make Pure Aero is soft by using softer strings and lower tension, coz i know that I liked it, not too sure about Wilson clash. I do like to put some spin on the ball and Babolat Pure Aero allowed me to to take bigger cut at the ball, the older version was not that great, tried that too. Spec with Wilson Clash 98 or 100 pro looks good because of the extra string 16x20, assuming that will give me more control. So a bit confused here, tough to make decision just based on specs :( Would appreciate a response @tennisnerd.
Wilson Clash V2 sucks. It is too soft and twists in all possible directions. Go with v1. Clash 98 v1 and Clash 100 Tour v1 are great for players with arm issues (like me 🙂 ). 4.0 player here
Dear Tennis nerd: can you lower string tension and still keep the string pop back to location? What make a string at high tension and still not move back to its position? Some stringer just can’t make it right and what did it went wrong? You had recommended lower tension for many racquets, but I don’t know what to do because my local stringer can’t string a racquet with string pop back to its location.
well what string are you using? If you're using multi of course its not going to pop back into place. Poly should though, a shaped poly will stick more than a round one.
Hey @tennisnerd How do you compare this racket to the older version in terms of power? Wit the older version i was afraid to swing and smash the ball outside the court! Thanks
I have an older pure aero plus(27.6inches), and power wise, the new one is less likely to hit it out. But I still switch back to the old one in match, when I get tired.
Hi! Is this new version of the Pure Aero any similar to the Aero Pro Drive Original (2005)? The Original one is the racket that I use and love but none of the new versions feel any similar! Thanks for the video!
It's a slight string pattern change, (Less difference now to the Pure Drive) and a cross between the Pure Aero VS and Old Yeller 2019 Pure Aero Drive) A slight adjustment in stiffness and put it on sale. Not anything in specs, technology or other. The width remains the same. I'm still waiting for Babolat to put out a 98sq in racket with the same beam as the Pure Aero. Stop with the thinner VS. [Yes, the thinner beam is for more control with the 98sq in head but, I prefer the power of the Pure Aero Beam in a 98sq in head. Sort of a medium of both worlds. Not an Aeropro Control, not a VS , not a Pure Drive without the Aero. Babolat needs to get on a 98Sq in head Pure Aero.
I have this racquet and previous versions as well. This is a much different racquet than the last version. I always played with RPM blast with 57lb string tension but I feel that what was improved in shot accuracy, I've lost in serve power. I might lower the string tension a few pounds to gain back some power. Overall, a very nice improvement!
It’s the closest layup wise of any of the 7 they’ve had so far, however this version is softer and with a different dampening system, should still have more spin because of FSI.
unrelated but on the leaked atlanta racquet and strings whiteboard you said that its a mistake saying Popyrin is using Dunlop FX , i thought the same but he actually is using it right now vs fritz in washington! At least the paintjob anyway. Interesting switch!
The Speed MP has a much softer layup (RA 62) and a thinner beam. So you should get more feel and control but less raw power and spin. The Speed MP 2022 is more like a controlled, better feeling Pure Drive imho. Great Racquet anyways, just bought two of them and i am really really satisfied!
I tried the speed mp and aero, I preferred the aero as I hit flatter but like the spin it adds,as for Speed MP lack of control and not a great feeling racquet considering I have pretty good groundstrokes control was lacking, demo before you buy, I thought the head boom is better than the speed for feel.
@@ChaCha765-SY That's interesting bc i was demoing the MP alongside the VCore 98, VCore 100, VCore Pro 100, Pure Drive and Gravity Tour and it was by far the best feeling out of these (Gravity was close but spin and power were easier with the MP). The right string setup is another story though, maybe your setup was not ideal.
@@charlesfaure1189 Babolats are well known arm wreckers because of the high stiffness. Fine if you're built like Nadal and have 20 physios tending to your every physical whim on a daily basis, but not if you're a normal person.
@Aenamic You don't understand RA. That just measures how much it bends on the middle when you put a weight at either end. It doesnt mean that it won't destroy your arm because of stiffness across the racquets, or harshness in the choice of layup etc
@@ommpaloomplak53 that's simply not true though. There are PLENTY of amateurs who can swing a 320g unstrung racket with very fast head speed. Try it. Weight up an APD or PA and see how it plays.
@@uchihasasuke7436 obviously there will be people who can do that but for most players that use the aero line, beginners and intermediate players namely, it will be easier for them to swing a lighter racket
Babolat didn't mention much about the pure aero 98 apart from the new tech isn't on it. Would be interesting to compare it with the aero vs to see if it's just a paintjob.
This is a demo from TWE that I have to send back. That's the most common situation, but I buy some and get some. It doesn't affect what I feel about them though.
So Babolat recognized the utter awfulness of the 2019 version--a string-eating, ball-flinging nightmare designed to allow people who don't know how to hit topspin to get topspin anyway. They haven't updated--they've backdated to the previous design. Now if they'd just backdate it to the original version, then they'd have a great racket again. And I'm guessing we'll see this paint job on Alcaraz' VS (which is IMO still the best stick Babolat is presently making.)
Still ugly looking imo. This is not the case with the Pure Drives and even with the Strikes, where there replaced the 2018 models with smthg fresh looking and still beautiful.
Hey Jonas, have you heard anything about the pure aero 98? I saw a video release from this other channel (ruclips.net/video/6Tw33T5_bTY/видео.html), looks like demos might be released to testers like yourself soon?

I am going with the Aero 98
Is alcaraz switching to this one? I saw his IG.
no he will not.
Is the VS also getting a new paint job?
Yes it is - it is called Aero 98
should i buy this new pure aero, or stay with my pure aero vs?
There will be a new Aero 98, so check that one out if you like the VS.
@@Tennisnerd Do you know when?
unrelated but on the leaked atlanta racquet and strings whiteboard you said that its a mistake saying Popyrin is using Dunlop FX , i thought the same but he actually is using it right now vs fritz in washington! At least the paintjob anyway. Interesting switch!
UP!
Thank you bab for releasing this. One step to the right direction. Next , reduce the stiffness a bit it is golden.
The stiffness is a bit reduced, but could perhaps go even more. Why not an Aero Soft?
@@Tennisnerd exactly. they can do an aero tour with the softer layup. great vid
@TennisNerd Jonas those strokes are looking good you'll be a 5.5 soon
That's kind, Scott, thanks.
How would it compare to the 2022 Speed MP in Terms of ease of use, control / string pattern and forgiveness?
The right string setup is another story though, maybe your setup was not ideal.
omg, why has ur fh gotten so flicky?
My arm is hurting already....
If you prepare early and swing it loose your arm will be fine. It's hitting late and gripping too tight that causes the problem.
@@charlesfaure1189 Babolats are well known arm wreckers because of the high stiffness. Fine if you're built like Nadal and have 20 physios tending to your every physical whim on a daily basis, but not if you're a normal person.
This one has the lowest RA rating of any PA or PD since the original APD. You just have to try it.
@Aenamic You don't understand RA. That just measures how much it bends on the middle when you put a weight at either end. It doesnt mean that it won't destroy your arm because of stiffness across the racquets, or harshness in the choice of layup etc
@@anemicroyalty8764 Are you a Babolat fanboi or marketing schmuck or do you just not listen to what was posted earlier??
I still don't understand why babolat refuses to release a PA or PAVS at 320+. I always have to weight up babolat rackets, aside from old PCs.
The aero rackets are meant for spin which means racket head speed and more weight would generally slow the racket head speed
Excited for the 98 version!
Are they discontinuing the 🆚?
Just renamed it to aero 98
@@FMPcLarKy do we know when the 98 will be released?
Babolat didn't mention much about the pure aero 98 apart from the new tech isn't on it. Would be interesting to compare it with the aero vs to see if it's just a paintjob.
In the interview with tennis warehouse, the rep did mention some new tech in the 98
6:25 FOOT FAULT!!!!!!
Thanks, ref.
98 is in that 305gram group but 315 seems the players want
Hey, Jonas! I noticed that Alexey Popyrin changed his HEAD to Dunlop. Check it out)))
Yeah, I saw - just posted about it: tennisnerd.net/gear/racquets/pro-player-racquets/alexei-popyrins-new-racquet/27581
i wonder if he buys all these rackets
Wait for the special Rafa version they working on…maybe it’ll go back to the original
@@jonathanchen1026 The one he's still using, heh heh.
Not a fan of the PJ. If I ever do get one, I'll have to send it to a custom PJ. 😅
