I was happy to see you stand your ground. The CNG driver is a wonderful person who was trying to prevent you from getting scammed! Any suggestions, recommendations, or advice you can share about BD from your experience. Also, can you provide information on the ATM? In terms of how much you can withdraw and any fees? Jazakalah!
The Government set price is for Ratgul is 575 Taka but you have to pay for the boat ride to get there in the first place. These cowboys haggle to rip you off. I went with 9 people including myself and the boat fare was 2000 Taka. My cousin is a local so he haggled but because the cowboys knew I was British they wouldn't budge below 2000, plus the 575 Government fee, so I paid 2575 in total. I gave the Ratagul gondoliers a tip of 500 each (we got two boats when we were there). If you went with a Government approved tour guide, you would have only needed to pay the 575 Taka and they wouldn't try to rip you off to get there.

Bangladesh is very beautiful country, next time wen u visit, pls go to more touristy places like Cox bazar the world’s largest beach. Saint Martin’s Island, Sunderbans Mangrove forest it’s a world UNESCO heritage site etc most beautiful place in Bangladesh is Chittagong Hill Tracts: Bandarban, Khagrachari, Rangamati remote Districts, this region is untypical of rest of Bangladesh because of hilly mountainous terrain, deep forests, gorges, lakes, streams. Waterfalls etc there’s a saying if u don’t visit this hill tracts, it’s like u haven’t visited Bangladesh at all. To be honest you’ve only visited & seen 5% this the country ❤❤❤
At the end that was a rally for some kind of local political guy named Dhala. Probably he is going to run as a local chairman or a similar position. The cheering and instuments made me smile and hyped me up too ngl lol.
So Bangladesh recently became independent from it's facist regime. That means hopefully there will be more good change for tourists. Do visit Bangladesh again if it becomes stable.
I meant, the CNG driver understood that the boats syndicate tried to cheat you. And the CNG driver was rude to those boat driver and syndicate. Let me translate the village slang "Akla akla ki bal falabe". That means if someone alone somewhere there is nothing to enjoy. But the sentence is too slang. If I translate by words ; people cut under hairs alone. What you will do alone there, except cutting your under hairs. That's means, there is no fun as like no fun in shaving under body hairs. And the CNG driver mentioned there that you are not going alone in the forest, if they know, they could ask higher money or any there issues. By the way, I don’t understand why many Muslim people (I don’t mean religious muslim) do more cheating compared other religious community.

Draw anything up to few hundred USD, which is plenty. BD. bro is safe place, a bit hectic in Dhaka. But don’t go out at night tooo much alone .
