I love this "un-homework" idea. I teach first grade as well and it is quite frustrating when I print off copies of homework and give homework week after week. On top of that, students come in with homework that is incorrect, especially in Math. I think it is best for kids and parents to have a break from school and instead talk about what happened in the school day, write a journal entry, or read books together, eat dinner and go to bed early! Those are the valuable things parents can do at home with their children after a long day or work and school.
@MCB_K1ng Official You act like you wanna do homework that you will forget after a week when you learn new shit and never use it ever again for you’re life
I'm a university student studying homework for my teaching degree (I plan on teaching elementary school music, so there's not much homework in my area anyway). I remember my days around 10-12 years ago in middle and high school and being drowned in homework assignments that had no real meaning. When I was a sophomore in highschool, my mom had to tell me that I was doing too much homework in one class (we made flash cards to be graded twice a week or so with around 50 terms for each set) on top of my other classes that I was excelling in. My teacher for that one class had only been at our school for a short time, but she was quite surprised when my mom told her that it was just too much homework. I've seen the immeasurable stress excess homework puts on students and how it negatively affects student performance in the long run. When I get my degree, I plan on having almost no homework (I will encourage my students to practice outside of the classroom as necessary, but homework for music seems counterintuitive)
finnley equestrian I am in secondary school and we get DETENTIONS if we can’t hand it in, 6 times then you’ll get a demerit, I’ve had panic attack’s so many times I can’t breath sometimes
Tbh I know that teachers want the best for us and are selfless when they give up so much of their time to mark our work, but at some points it's like 'seriously you guys have no social life, you're probs depressed, why do you you even want homework?!!!'
I have a ton of homework, but I still have some time to spend time with my family. I usually also took naps as I was very tired.. But I still had time. Our Bm (Country language-Bahasa Melayu) teacher usually thought we sucked. Having too much homework RESULTS in tiredness, stress and anxiety. Homework isn't what WE want. It is bad..
my 5th grade teacher mrs Chanda god rest her soul never gave homework because she said we worked hard enough in school and she thought going home should be about decompressing and de stressing she also let us play kick ball outside every Friday and kept candy on her desk for us to take once and a while randomly or as a reward if we aced a test or something and she never cared if we quietly. talked to our friends matter of fact my bff and I were in the same class and we went to walk though to see the classroom and she happened to be there so we asked her if she minded if we sat by each other and she happily obliged lol she was awesome best teacher I ever had god I miss her she loved her job and her students so much that she actually died getting her classroom ready for her next batch of kids in the summer
When I first clicked on this video I was hoping at least one person was the as me and liked homework I really like homework and it's to me really important
Homework should be treated as a job, kids are people. People get paid for doing things IN THEIR OWN TIME! If schools had teachers who know HOW to teach properly, rather than being told by the state how to teach their agenda, homework wouldn't be needed. A lot of time in school is wasted by teaching kids rubbish that they don't even need, sport, religion, Shakespeare and all that crap. Sport can be done at home, kids find their own fitness level naturally. religion goes without saying (might as well let them read fairy tales) and the 'classics' like Shakespeare, well duh, I am 61 and found the garbage that was written hundreds of years ago is so boring. Children thrive on learning and the key to that is interest. Teachers can't get kids interested in subjects now unless it intersects with what the syllabus defines for them to be allowed to teach. It is actually the teachers rather than the kids who are the victims here. They took up this profession on good faith and are being dealt a raw deal by the government. In the meantime, kids have to waste precious hours of their childhood mulling over mindless crap for literally no reason at all. Hours of childhood they will NEVER get back. And then it moves on to the next generation, where they see their kids doing absolutely the same thing they did and see it as normal. You want kids to do homework? PAY them for it, and make it optional. They want extra pocket money? Do homework. Or not. National minimum wage of course. Someone has to stand up for the kids, they deserve their lives to be free of governmental and religious agendas, and to enjoy their childhood while it lasts.
They need to focus on high schools and give them no homework everyday I come home from school I get so sleepy and tired and skip on homework due to sleepness
Damn this homework!!! My son is 5 years old and in kindergarten, and has waaaay more homework than I had as a 3rd grader. These kids are 5....5!!!! Let them play and watch cartoons when they get home!!!! Plus, these assignments are so dumb and the instructions are worse than ikea furniture. I'm burnt out after 12-14 hour days at work and the last thing I want to do is help my kid with an entire packet of worthless shit every night. BAN ELEMENTARY HOMEWORK!!!!!! LET THESE KIDS BE KIDS!!!! THESE POOR KIDS HAVE TO WEAR MASKS ALL DAY, SOCIAL DISTANCE, DO ALL OF THEIR LESSONS, THEN GO HOME AND DO PACKETS OF HOMEWORK....MY SON IS GOING LOONEY TUNES!!!!
For my opinion, I'm in the 11th grade. And it is already a struggle to do homework that I just now procrastinate. I get it they give us homework to review. But it is not really helping since we also have other classes to attend plus sports and we sometimes can't go with family stuff because of homework. Instead just do a short review of yesterday's lesson or just let us do our homework during class and a lecture video to listen at home and take notes. At least we have enough time to do sports without worrying about homework and spend time with family.
I’m only in middle schools l and I’m getting 3-4 hours of hw and even on the last days of school I get it teachers need to make sure we understand the material but can’t we just look it up online and they fucking force us to read when I was young they forced us to read and think u will like but that made it worse and kids just hate school and why do u think kids 6-12 (not rilly elementary school kids) suffer form anxiety and depression (like me)
Homework doesn't deserve to be called Homework . We already do hours of work at school so why do we really have to do more work after school instead having a break. Homework is also very stressful it forces you to go into boring subjects you already learned. The most worst thing about Homework is how much time it takes some just takes 10 minutes but many can be up to hours and never allow kids to have their freedom
I am an Remedial teacher and an advocate of NO HOMEWORK. The WORK of children is to play....WHY do you want TIRED children to ''reinforce learning''? Thats RUBBISH..
Homework is necessary for student growth. It is a chance to reinforce the learning that took place that day in areas like math. Math is too complicating a subject to retain the information without the reinforcement. In my observations, the students that struggle the most are the ones that don’t do any kind of reinforcement at home.
Homework for elementary ages kids is so dumb. It's just a tradition and that's why schools continue to give it. I think homework should start in middle school when they kids can actually complete it without help.
This is nonsense. We’re trailing behind every other developed country in education, raising a generation that can barely read beyond a 4th grade level, and the question is to cut out homework. At the end of the day most teachers do not want to give homework assignments but most children do not have the self discipline to go home and study on their own to reinforce learning. Parents expect students to be fully educated when a teacher only has maybe 3 hours of instructional time out of an entire week. That’s without mentioning class sizes and time wasted on behavioral redirection. If you want your babies to be intelligent and intellectual and have the ability to attain academic standards then accountability must be taken.
The worse thing invented is rent lol. Homework is really important and I always liked it - why? Because it helped me reinforce the concepts I may have been struggling with.
I have a Homework Rule in my house so it started when I started high school 3 years ago as it is that if I have any homework then I do it all on the day I receive it. #HomeworkHelps
Actually.... I don't think you know but, students are basically having a work day (8 hours of school) and then we get overtime (Homework). We aren't being paid, and Homework is completely useless
Anyone retarded enough to say homework is beneficial obviously isn't a millennial or has children.... They don't know stress kids and parents go through... So after all, Work may be stressing, but u do get paid for doing it and if u know what to do, can learn new ideas and ways to make more for less effort... Students don't get this opportunity. And u can't say successful people made it cuz of school
Teacher: Homework Is stupid so we cut it from school
*Everyone Liked that*

To me no homework wouldn’t be oh just some extra time
It would be a lift off from stress. School is the MOST STRESSFUL PLACE ever!
Yea
Homework is an additional 1-5 hours work of stress. What’s the point of having breaks if we have to “ Do HOmEWOrK”.
The Montessori method is clear proof that homework isn't even necessary for high school students. Homework should be abolished.
