Dude.
In Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, there's a room in the safehouse with a washing machine. You go into it, and Frank will comment, asking "Is that potato salad in there? There's bound to be a story behind this."
Holy shit, remember when developers cared and had good senses of humor?

Pepperidge Farm remembers.

So that's how him and Gabriel met, I'm glad they're still together
I suppose that's as good an explanation as any.
Shark Lizard Who is Gabriel?
theyoutubecommentepidemic Gabriel Morton, Yahtzee's friend and a bouncer at his bar.
Alex Shannon Oh, I have actually never heard of him.
theyoutubecommentepidemic He does a weekly podcast/let's play with him every Saturday/Sunday. They started with Fantasy World Dizzy several years ago.
After a few years together my partner and I are still inseparable.
We still disagree on how fashionable the giant Lego head is, but our love of setting things on fire will always hold strong.
You people make me cringe. It's not a Lego head... Play mega Man legends.
(Equips nerd glasses)
Ackchyually it’sh a shervbot from mega man!
Why is it that after 9 years of reviewing games, Dead Rising 2 is still the only game featured on ZP that gets escort missions right? So much for the evolutionary leap that is the eighth console generation.
ico dos it right he said
There have been a few
+brainflash1 Last of Us and Bioshock Infinite?
But she's dead.
To be fair, Last of us removes Elle from gameplay and Elizabeth is more of asset than an escort.
RE4 did it right.

Yahtzee - "I actually quite liked this game."

honestly if i could tape an angry cat to a broom handle i would never put this game down
The equivalent of that is in Postal 3 you can maul people with a live badgers claws.
@@ThierryRocksTV I read that as Portal 3 at first and was extremely confused on many levels.
"Give a zombie a hug, and he might actually remember being human."
OH MY GOD!! Warm Bodies! Yahtzee IS a psychic!!
guys get this loadout because when u do u will literately be god:
Defiler
(Fire Axe+Sledge Hammer)
Light Saber

Spiked Baseball-bat
(Nails+Baseball-bat)
Drill Bucket
(Drill+Bucket)
Infernal Arms
(Training Sword+Motor Oil)
All other slots 4 food.
+A Box Where do you find Jews?
+Gamer Banger World War 2 at one of those death camps. (Try not to get shot in the kneecaps)
You sure that's in Paradise City?
Jewish people tend to stop me from taping flashlights to them

The first dead rising is still my favorite. Its combat felt less jittery, and Frank's animations with the weapons made me feel that he was as excited to be killing a zombie with a rock n' roll guitar as I was. Besides that the game's engine seemed to be prettier in the first game than in the second one, if less advanced, and the graphics have aged pretty well in retrospect. Also, the game had a good mixture of darkness and camp without ever overdoing it with too much color and flash like the sequel. Keep in mind that I love Dead Rising 2 and acknowledge that it made some MUCH NEEDED improvements to the gameplay, but overall I'd still rather spend an afternoon playing the first one.
The first one is so underrated it makes me want to jump off a building with an anvil for a parachute
MrCatchTwenty2 you need to get "off the record" mate. it's DR2 but with Chuck replaced with a washed up has-been Frank and the story tweaked a bit so it makes sense (i.e. you're getting the zombrex for yourself and not a sick daughter)
they added a bunch of new shit too including a new theme park area of the mall called "Uranus zone"
That “needing the bamboo to please the angry Panda later” quote is hauntingly accurate to a sidequest where you tame a tiger with several steaks
I learned the roll move after I got to level 30 or so..I had no idea about it but god it is useful
Now it all makes sense! YAHTZEE IS A TIME LORD!!!
... Funny, I always thought he was video games' Dalek. EX-TER-MINATE! WITH SAR-CASM!!!
I love DR 2 so much but the game is definitely easier once you start using the Spiked Bat, Knife Gloves, Defiler, Laser Sword and Pole Weapon. The first three are easily made near the warehouse and the other two have locations you’ll pass by often.
There's a dodge roll? I always thought either the game was broken and I had to find a glitchy spot to kill the tough enemies with projectiles like guns, or there was something I was missing
You unlock it about 1/3 away through the XP system, but if you don't pay attention when it comes up you can easily go the whole game not realizing you have it. I'm not even sure where to find the list of moves you can do, like the jump kick and so on.
+BigMac8000 *two months later* In the pause menu, go into the Status page, and then the skills tab.
I really think this game shines from MP. Nothing like trying to enjoy a good story mission, but then your friend gets there first and you get around 45% of the screen to just watch people talk around a giant serve-bot head occupying the other 55%.
It is probably really stupid to point out a fault in a 5 year old video, but I think the point of the protest group is that the zombies were once human and should be treated as such. It is the same as making entertainment out of desecrating corpses.
Their point can automatically be shut down with "Hey, that murderer used to be a normal person and should be treated as such!"
1. They didn't choose to be zombies so it isn't exactly the same, and 2. We don't make pay per view tv of murderers being slaughtered because it would be considered inhumane. If your loved ones were turned into zombies would you be perfectly fine seeing them be treated like that? I know I wouldn't. I rather them be put to death and given a proper burial. I think that is the thinking of the protest group. I also say that this is a game and I really don't care that much about the moral issues, I like mowing down zombies. But if we are talking about this hypothetically happening in real life I would probably side with the protest group.
Matthew Schuth Would have to pass on the protest group in a real life situation, whatever keeps more zombies off the streets works for me, loved ones or not. Plus, I'd be too busy trying to survive to give a shit about what some guy is doing for a TV show, let alone the people protesting it rather than doing *anything* else.
Though in the case I actually were to give a shit and watch the show, I'd be more sad about seeing one of my best friends or family members in the TV show as a zombie than I would be pissed off at the makers of the TV show for using zombies as a form of entertainment.
I thought the whole issue was "Hey maybe we should check if there's a cure before killing them all?"
@@humiecrusher It's a valid point, but it might be a bit galling for the tattered remnants of humanity to discover that the answer is "nope" after decades of exhaustive research
Though I'm not particularly fond of being timed when playing I did feel a sense of accomplishment when I finish all the side quest for the day and proceed to kill a bunch of zombies to kill time. It's like when you go to work/school and come home and relax for the next 7 hours having done so much work. The one gripe I have to say though is at most I will only get two hours to screw around. Give 4 or 5 hours before I have to do more story missions and side quests!
Did you put a line from "The Soldier" in the end there, Yahtzee?
yes.
I love it when you mention Cornish pasties, being from Cornwall...
The personal massager is my fave zombie smackdown tool.
Playing this while listening to AC/DC makes me feel like Ash Williams in Ash vs Evil Dead... Back in Black may appropriate as all hell but the most cathartic and appropriate song was "You Shook Me All Night."
Isn't that what all fans are?
I personally love Yahtzee's ability to humorously represent useful information. In the game reviewing department I like that he talks more to the developers than the consumer. And as a person I respect and love his literary brilliance. So in short I just think he's a great person. I don't see what's wrong with that.
LOL! This is so funny with all the weapon combos and sawing zombies and imps. And the crossdressing too! XD
Portal 1&2, Shadow of the colossus, Call of duty: Modern warfare, Silent hill 2, Minecraft. These are some examples of games he has given good reviews.
Yes because when you have a high school cheerleader wielding both a chainsaw and the talking decapitated head of her boyfriend the first thing you think is "THEY STOLE THIS IDEA"
I thought we figured this out when he reviewed Singularity and Mafia II.
Still better than Dead Rising 3....
I hated DR2 in comparison to 3
***** eww number three was meh
When DR3 came out i was like HOLY SHIT I GOTTA GET AN XBOXONE FOR THI- oh wait nvm the story is shit, and idk something seemed off with the gameplay but whatever the games dead buried now anyways to even give a damn anymore. (besides the fact that i wrote this comment but i figure I'd reply back) lol
Now DR 4 makes 3 so much better
Dead rising 2 was the last best dead rising
Oh man, wow. I'm on my first playthrough of Dead Rising 2, and I understand what he means about suddenly having a bunch of npcs needing money to follow you. I had to pay one group $10,000 to follow me. Then one not long later I had to pay $3000.
Why can't I just escort them? That's annoying enough without needing to do things for them too. They either want money, or want you to DO things. One NPC had me follow him around as he stole money from 4-5 ATM machines before he agreed to follow me back(although he gave me like $50,000 for it so it wasn't too bad), another one refused to follow me unless I was in my underwear(REALLY..).
It's like, they made the survivors less annoying as followers, but decided to make up for it by making them all require something before they'd follow you. It's bad enough that you need to talk to most of them multiple times before they agree.
TXF Well I took all those opportunities and skipped the high stakes poker part because 1. It's a long game. 2. I'm not wasting 100k to play. 3. I suck at poker
This game is great. Please do Dead Rising 1 please
Happened to me once..... gold, it was everywhere.
This is probably the nicest ive ever heard Yahtzee sound in any of his game reviews =P
quite simply the zero punctuation theme song if you aren't being sarcastic
Its good to see the Defiler was actually useful for someone.
Thanks for the tip, the reall sucker trough is that I'm equiped with the inaropriate weapon (Tha helmet with the spinning blades)
But I'll try this, thanks again
An overhang on the difficulty curb just makes things get easier as they get harder... OH GOD IM THINKING ABOUT THINGS AGAIN
you do know that that "Motorcycle Chainsawman" is the main character of the normal Dead Rising 2
Toss in some Ashens for added humor.
1:20 along with the show "Warm bodies".
Now, off the record, you level up by mashing zombies with crazy crafted weapons then taking pictures of them for your scrapbook.
I'd say that would be like saying the Japanese stole the idea of gods and dragons from the Europeans. While in both cases the ideas are used in two different things you could easily come up with a pink chainsaw in a game with a zombie hunter cheerleader or a game where you can use anything as a weapon and make several different weapons.
yes, from kore wa zombie desu ka? and they have the balls to make the costume from the show an unlockable, along with highschool of the dead and deadman wonderland amongst others.
Clover was absorbed by Capcom, though. A number of people left Clover to start Platinum games, the team behind Bayonetta.
Super Genocide Killtron 2000 is my favourite zero punctuation moment.
At 3:00 the ATM on the left says MTA.
2:20 Holy crap! Was that an Avenue Q reference? (Probably not but I'm just going to pretend it is because it makes me happy.)
2:06 Ding ding ding. We found our joke of the day.
Might have to check that out, thanks.
Man I'm going to the laundry mat and making a potato salad in a dryer this weekend. Cheerio for that.
Sound's familiar, but you forgot the breakdown; of leaving my knuckle imprint on my bathroom wall jelling something in the lines of: GAHHH !"
It's going to be free with episode zero for Xbox on the 16th!
I don't know even during my first playthrough if you have pain killers and quick step you can pretty much break the game it becomes a walk in the park.It is nice that a blender and what you need to make those said game breaking drinks are right next to the bunker area takes no time to makes some and with some knife gloves the game is wonderful.
Well it's comforting to know that someone else didn't realise you could role in this game until half way through it. Those incestuous twins would have been a breeze. Also I'd enjoy these games a lot more if they dropped the timer bullshit. Mowing down 200 zombies would be cathartic were it not for the fucking timer telling me to hurry the fuck up.
my tumble dryer makes great salads
Excellent work!
He's right. This game is incredible, although some of the boss fights almost turn ME into a psychopath. (them twins man)
I'm not sure what makes a Zero Punctuation fan a mindless drone, I think he's just fucking hilarious.
LMG + Shotgun and focus on one twin = easy mode. Then you get the super katanas and work out your rage before realising you need them later and having to make a lightsaber instead.
Get the Freedom Bear (LMG + Mechanical Bear). Makes the fight loads easier. (Although, please note that I did say easier.)
"Name a game where weapon degradation was a good idea" - Yahtzee, dead island review
umm . . . this one?
Also, given some later reviews, apparently it wasn't a terrible idea in Breath of the Wild.
Ya, you know those steel fences around those random patches of grass? Well you just wait till he comes flying towards you (Timing and luck are key here.) on the bike, to which you then jump over the fence. If your lucky or time it right (Which is hard) He will get stuck on the steel railing, and you can just wail on him with any weapon on the side with grass. (He can still he hit you, so just tank, drink OJ, or coffee creamer, but don't go too far away or he'll get unstuck so stay close.)
While there are missions. You can blatantly ignore them and wander about. I recommend doing that in your first go at the game. Just familiarize yourself with the surroundings while having fun with combo weapons and leveling up. You'll get a bad ending but fuck that, its been fun.
I think Capcom stole the joke at 2:15 because in Off the Record, (a non-cannon version of Dead Rising 2 two where you play as Frank again) in the safe house, you can find potato salad being made in a washing machine, or at least that's what Frank comments as he walks by.
Well that's Capcom. The guys who made Resident Evil.
The part about dehydrated Floridians couldn't be more true. :P
So the first date was re enacting the Convicts boss fight from the first game?
they didn't do okami, they published okami, it was made by clover studios, a 3rd party games company given the funding of a 1st party games company, hence how clovers give praise in the game.
yes
"Stick a radish up an imaginary cow's arse"
SODA.
SODA OUT MY NOSE.
The new layout... IT HURTS
That's just the heroin withdrawal talking.
Now I want drying machine potato salad, except I hate potato salad...
Usually Dead Rising around 6:40 AM for me.
Was the morning Pete a Shaun of the dead reference because if it was, it was a damn good one.
he does actualy say when he likes a game and does point out the good parts of games when its deserved.
Mindless drones are something every fandom has.
the coop is really fun
If Capcom makes stories the same way dryers make potato salad, then the creation of Okami and Okamiden would be the equivalent of putting potatoes in a dryer and opening it to find out it's been turned into gold.
4:31 How Crowshaw met his true love
I actually read your comment with Yahtzees voice...too much Yahtzee for 1 day...
I'm already brainwashed :D
Yahtzee you've inspired me to be a game critic when I get out of high school! :D
How'd it work out?
@Buretsu "Hey well, pan is temporary so..."
*punches again*
Of course he does!He put it on the number 4 or 5 on his top 10 best and worst list.
HALLELUJAH! I've watched all the recommended ZP videos. I CAN GO TO BED!
If I can put my snooty glasses on and explain some math, a difficulty curve can't have an overhang, because the x axis represents how far in the game you are, and the same point in the game can't have two difficulties in the same playthrough.
Way to ruin the fun. I jus kid I jus kid. Yes I know the previous sentence is grammatically incorrect and poorly written, I was just trying to be funny.
Who the fuck cares
+Howard Games I assumed that was part of the joke: The difficulty curve is so absurd it defies the laws of reality.
OhioGentleman
That...makes a lot of sense. That joke is even funnier now. Thanks.
Wish I had a hat like that
MMA Gloves + Nails = Victory for all!
I know you know your joking, but did you know that the warm bodies movie is actually based off the book of the same name
Thank you very very much, sir. Means a lot to me.
God how I love 28 days later.....and 28 weeks later. WHERE IS 28 MONTHS LATER D:<
What's the song at the intro?
Dude, Chuck (A.K.A the guy with the bike) it's DR2 main character... so yeah... he had it's onw abilities, but it just Leon Bell with another look,
veredict: USE THE BAT. IF IT KILLS LEON, IT MUST KILL CHUCKY.
I am a dehydrated Floridian... I wish I had some OJ.
He grew up in England and moved to Australia for business opportunities.
Is dead rising 2 compatible backwards with the xbone? I committed the error of buying that console instead of sticking to the 7th gen and i want at least to have the most value out of it.
Mirko Antonini Well, it's now available, (remastered,) on the Xbox One. Don't think it'll go on backwards compatibility any time soon...
Correction: a different team WITHIN Capcom. Capcom published it. Clover made it.
in dead rising 2 off the record theres a dryer with potato salad in it
What's with the Lego guy on the box cover?
It's a reference to a previous Capcom game.
He, himself, had said that he uses humour to express his opinion, or it'd be just like other review shows.
The worst thing you can ever do to something you love is expose yourself to its fan community.
giant pink chainsaw is a weapon in dead rising 2
