      Hi Sir,
Thank you for your feedback and appreciation!
I appreciate your suggestion for a video on performance analysis of storage LUNs allocated.
I'll definitely take it into consideration for future content.

    • @gnancloudgarage5238

      Hi Sir,
      FYI.
Performing performance analysis of storage LUNs allocated in a VMware vSphere environment typically involves several steps.
Here's a general guideline to help you get started:
      1) Identify the LUNs:
Determine which LUNs you want to analyze and gather information about their configuration and usage.
      2) Monitor storage performance metrics:
Use VMware vSphere performance monitoring tools, such as vCenter Server, to collect performance metrics related to the LUNs. Monitor metrics like latency, IOPS (Input/Output Operations Per Second), throughput, and queue depth.
      3) Analyse latency:
High latency can indicate performance issues. Monitor the latency of the LUNs and compare it against recommended thresholds or benchmarks.
      4) Monitor IOPS and throughput:
Keep an eye on the IOPS and throughput metrics for the LUNs. Identify any significant fluctuations or bottlenecks that may impact performance.
      5) Analyse queue depth:
Queue depth refers to the number of outstanding I/O requests waiting to be processed. High queue depth can cause performance degradation. Monitor and analyze the queue depth of the LUNs.
      6) Review VM-level performance:
Evaluate the performance of virtual machines (VMs) utilizing the LUNs. Identify any VMs experiencing performance issues or high I/O demands that may affect the LUNs.
      7) Identify resource contention:
Check for resource contention on the ESXi hosts, such as CPU, memory, or network. Contentions can indirectly impact storage performance.
      8) Consider storage-specific tools:
Depending on your storage infrastructure, consider utilizing storage-specific tools provided by the storage vendor to gather deeper insights into the LUN performance.
      9) Troubleshoot and optimize:
If performance issues are identified, troubleshoot and address the root causes. Optimize configuration settings, adjust storage parameters, or consider load-balancing techniques to improve LUN performance.
It's worth noting that the exact steps and tools used may vary based on your specific vSphere environment and storage infrastructure. Consulting VMware documentation, and relevant storage vendor resources, and seeking guidance from experienced professionals can provide further assistance in conducting performance analysis for storage LUNs.
      Thank you

Which logs will we send to hardware vendor when we have psod issue ,vmkernel logs or any other logs and how to export the logs

    • @gnancloudgarage5238
      @gnancloudgarage5238  10 месяцев назад +2

      Thank you for your question!
When experiencing a PSOD issue, it's crucial to gather the right logs for the hardware vendor's analysis.
In this scenario, the vmkernel logs are usually the primary logs that vendors require. These logs contain valuable information about the state of the system, including potential hardware issues.
To export the vmkernel logs, follow these steps:
      1. Log in to the vCenter Server using the vSphere Client.
      2. Select the host experiencing the PSOD issue.
      3. Navigate to the 'Monitor' tab and choose 'System Logs.'
      4. Click on 'Export System Logs' and select 'vmkernel.log' from the list.
      5. Save the exported file to a location of your choice.
Additionally, hardware vendors might also request other logs, such as ESXi host logs or hardware-specific logs. For example IML, and AHS logs for HPE Servers.
To ensure you're providing the most comprehensive information, it's a good idea to check with your specific vendor's documentation or support team.
