Yep, this is the first Authentic I’ve owned besides a ‘37 D28AA that had a relief issue but this one is very good. I’d say I like it better than the mahogany PWs I’ve had.
@@adambrown7112 you made this guitar sound so good coming from a guy that has exact same guitar. May i also ask pick are you using ? And in your opinion between this guitar and PWGC do you come sounds closer to the real vintage guitar given that you have a 41 d18 ?
@@oatgibson thanks! I am using a Bluechip SR50 in this video, this pick has a very round edge which helped to mellow out the newer bright strings. I would say that the Martin Authentic comes closer to a vintage pre war than a PWGC, the Martin Authentic has a warmth to it that my Pre Wars didn’t have
@@adambrown7112 thank you very much for the replies. Hope to see more videos of you playing this guitar, maybe some comparison of this om18a vs your other guitars would be great to see.
I like this OM Authentic better than the PWGC I had, it’s dry but still musical, PWGC can sometimes get a little thin sounding. The Martin is much warmer as well. The Collings I have aren’t dry like the Authentic or PWs, they’re more lush sounding and probably warmer than the others as well. They (Collings) aren’t really shooting for a bench copy vintage tone, their voicing is what it is and that’s why I like them. I am a really big fan of this Authentic for the record.
Excellent playing!
Rings like a bell.
Norman Blake would approve!
If I bought this guitar I’d be in poor valley 😂
Gee those authentics are great sounding guitars. Love the mahogany ones, but the rosewood ones are also magic.

Hey currently own an OM28 authentic 1931. Would this be a good guitar to have as contrast?
How fast could you crosspick triad with a metronome as a challenge? I got stuck at 160bpm triplets for months..
Not very fast. I’m not much of a cross picker, I usually just fake my way through it haha
Very nice. I have this exact same guitar with vts. Wondering if yours is a pre vts or vts top ? And what strings are you using on this recording ?
This is a VTS model and honestly I’m not sure about the strings, they’re just what was on it when I got it. I think they may be Daddario PB med-lights

How do you compare these martin authentics to Collings and pre-war guitars?
