I was halfway through listening to a dramatisation of "Clouds of Witness", with the indispensable Ian Carmichael, when suddenly when it suddenly suddenly came to an abrupt halt on grounds of copyright.

I'm kicking it to the curb too. I thought I was the only one that thought this was crap! Only Ian Carmichael can do Winsey properly.

Oh dear, I have to abandon this, the language makes no sense when read by a robot!

But this story it's very useful for foreign English students to practice their skills in " general comprehension" of texts in this language. Besides, the vocabulary used in the story is rather easy and understandable for them. I' m going to advice my own English students to listen to this story. Thank you for this audio.

@@noelle7658 I'm surprised to hear you find this useful. The language and idioms used in the story were common in 1930s Britain, but not used today. "Don't prostrate yourself in gratitude, old bean" - would sound very odd today!

I can't even recognise this as a Lord Peter Wimsey story with the deadly narration - have to stop hearing it.
