@@2is1gold I don't know about that, good sir. My last few purchases were not a lot, and were actually few and far between. Looking forward to your next vid.
Thanks! This was good advice for comparison shopping of gold down the road. I recently made my first gold purchase of a 1/10 Britannia and while I realize they've got you in a vise grip on the over spot costs, it was the most reasonably priced 1/10 I came across after looking at the 1/10 Eagles. Hey, and unrelated but kind of related---I agree with you on the Philharmonic coin content: looking at those instruments on the reverse of the coin is my cure for late night insomnia...but my wife took me to Paris for my 50th a year and a half ago and we came across a guy on the street playing a harp! Absolutely beautiful instrument to see up close and personal. Here I'm used to the guys playing the drums on the upside down Home Depot buckets outside of Wrigley Field and I get to see this! I had to drop a few euros in his case. So long story short, I guess I'd pick up the Philharmonics just to enjoy that harp!
Almost 2 years later. I'm still finding that the Philharmonic is the best premium again. Got a few 1/4 oz Philharmonics on the way right now actually. It's like Christmas when the mail comes when you know there is bullion in it! 🤤💌
Gold Philharmonic same diameter as a Silver Philharmonic and has a pretty cool reeded edge. But since it has such a large diameter, the coins are super thin and fragile... dented the edge of one from accidently dropping it on a glass table 2 inches high.
That’s too bad. It’s cool that the gold and silver diameter is the same, but the 1oz profile is too thin. The 1/4oz isn’t that way. Much more in line with other popular coins.
Fast forward to October 2022 and the 1oz philharmonic is the cheapest/best looking on the market right now. I’m not going to spend $175+ on premiums when most shops will barely give me spot for them. Transitioning to the Philharmonic!
Definitely a beautiful coin. There are years in past sales where the AP was the best selling gold coin in the world. Today, they hold their own . Respect the music. Gotta respect the music.

The only down side to the philharmonics is the lack of security features.
I think a better design for the Austrian coin would be their coat of arms. That would make a nice design. Or something Alps related. I think Austria, I think Kitzbuhel skiing.

I have never purchased an AGE or ASE, i have been able to buy poured gold directly from a mint for a lower premium than an AGE. That is a total no brainer to me. 1 oz is 1 oz to me
Just subscribed. The Philharmonic is a lovely coin and the unusual ridges on the side are an added bonus. Austria is famous for more than music and have a fine collection of three gold coins dedicated to three Psychologists, Freud, Adler and Frankl, in a limited edition. Well worth a look, if you can find them. Oh, and all are quarter ounce gold in your preferred 22ml sizes. Keep up the good work.
I like the Phil - I have a 1 oz version, and it is pretty big (in diameter) which is cool, and the edge also has some design 👍 can’t go wrong with cheap pure 24k gold
The Austrian Philharmonic is hard to beat. One of the lowest premiums for the class they're in. It's .9999 24k largest 1oz coin in the world. Gold is gold
Subbed. No other bullion coin in my stack that gives that bright gold look as the Phil. I like that the 1 oz are 37mm. It just looks bigger than an eagle or buffalo
Since I've been watching your videos I have purchased three and a half ounces of fractional gold and one ounce, the Britannia. Your broadcast is casting a broad spell on myself and others I would imagine. It's a good thing because gold is up!
@@2is1goldYes in one of your videos you said you sold off most of your silver to buy gold and I have quite a stack of silver. It's like watching paint dry, silver is great to have for possible future barter and trade, I will always keep a good amount of silver in my stack, but now I'm focusing on gold. My goal by the end of the year is to purchase another 4 oz of gold, mainly fractional, and another 1 oz coin, the maple. You should do a video about how people can make sure their gold is real by using a sigma if you have one, also the best places to buy gold. May I ask where you buy your gold? I buy from Liberty coin, they are fantastic and I have verified every piece and not one counterfeit, I think they are better than the bigger houses like JM and Apmex. Keep up the good work! One more question, what are your thoughts on other pieces like the Mexican Libertad and sovereigns? Thanks much!
Wherever you go in the U.S., especially when spot prices are elevated, new buyers entering the metals market are always asking (at the LCS’s) for ASE’s, and AGE’s. The most bought, sought, and sold coins in the U.S. To stay completely liquid, so you can sell at a moments notice, then these are the two coins you must stack.
Agreed. The AGE is the coin I own the most of by a long stretch. ASEs are the only silver I own at the moment. I'll happily take Maples, Phils and Krugs, though, if I can't find AGEs or AGBs at the moment since they'll only occupy 5% of my stack. Thanks for the comment!
I bought five of the 1/24 oz. Spent nearly $580 and they are the size of my finger nail. They are incredibly detailed, but I don't view them as gold investments but rather small bartering tokens for large gains if the grid goes bye bye.
I had a feeling I'd find this on your channel - I acquired (3) 1/4 Eagles before they got too dear, then a 1/4 Maple, and then I saw the 1/4 Phil at a nice price, even with Gold at 1858. My 2021 goal is at least (1) 1/4 ozt Gold coin every 3-4 weeks, with intermittent Silver and numismatic purchases as opportunities arise. If I can fill a tube with 22 mm coins by 2022 I'll be a happy little camper. I'm also looking at NZ and Aussie coins for 2021, as long as they're the same size. There's something in this for the collector and the stacker in me. Win-win. I think Phil is next and thanks for the peek at it.
to me, a 22k coin is not relevant because we have capsules, we have flips, and we have other ways to protect pure gold coins. I would not think about paying 20, 30, $50 more because it has an eagle stamped on it. If supply gets "Jim Rickards tight", I'll get a good chuckle if someone tries to nickle and dime me suggesting a maple, krug, or phil will be less sought after in a currency crash or economic crisis. I think the Austrian coins are pretty cool looking, bought one today! Must agree with you....they are one of the cheapest coins around.
I picked up a tube of 1/25th gold philharmonics, and some loose ones as well. Going to get some 1/4 oz gold phils soon, and since I got the gold I decided to get a tube of silver phillies as well. GREAT option and couldn't be happier. Nice diversification and it's gov't backed, premium bullion so I will take that all day. Excellent video! Thanks.
Three months ago I decided to buy a 1/10th gold coin a month with some silver. First two months I gold Eagles but just ordered my third coin. I went with the Philharmonic just to switch it up. The price was good and I want to be able to look at the difference in the color of the gold in person.
If you are interested (I am not) in 1/10 fractionals CMI currently has a 30 pack for 8.5% over. It is on their gold specials page. I'm maxed out on AU, or I would be tempted by the rest of the stuff on that page.
I had fun googling Krampus LOL. Philharmonics are so attractive and cheap here in Europe, I like music but the design is not so cool. Anyways I'm gonna switch from stacking ounces of Maples to ounces of Philharmonics, because they're a few 5 euros cheaper and would be easier to sell to Americans (little chance, but anyways) because they're not in the IRS blacklist you just mentioned. As for silver, Philharmonics are half of the stack, the other half are Maples for now.
It’s always a good choice to diversify. I’m glad you’re venturing out to alternative coin designs with the high premiums out there. Can you please do a video on your thoughts of the American Eagle design continuing to 2021 now? I know a lot of people who picked up extra eagles because the US Mint had stated this was the final year for the current design and now that has changed. Thanks again 2. Keep stacking them phils 😂
Good topic idea. Spoiler, though. I don't care one bit about key dates, and I think the new design will be much more popular than the current over time. (And nobody wants to hear that! 😂)
@@ticktology 😁 the sketches look bad. But the sculpted reliefs will look great. They’ll probably be extremely intricate or they’ll be on a textured field. I see this as a chance to bring US coins on par with the RCM and Royal Mint.
I totally understand the size difference thing. Just received my first quarter oz gold Canadian ML. It's 20mm size compared to the AGE and Phil 22mm. No air-tite direct fit made that size, so had to order one 21mm on ebay. ugh btw/ My new 1/4 ML looks small beside the 1/4 AGE. Next up will be a 22mm Brit or Phil.
Out here the Britannia is cheaper and more readily available than the Philharmonic, has anti counterfeit feature like the maple leaf and still 24k rather than that junk gold eagle. Being Canadian I might me biased, but I still think the maple leaf is king.
I think Philharmonics are a value purchase, but they are a little boring. As you know, my favorite gold coin is the Britannia. The 2021 Britannia looks pretty cool with the security features. I'm going to buy one right now on Ebay.
For years, my dealer gave me an even trade value, and premiums on the buying side weren't crazy. Basically, I could take in 3, 1/4oz AGEs and pay what I'd pay for the remainder to get a 1oz Eagle or Buffalo, my choice. Everyone was happy. This year that only made sense the first quarter. I was so used to doing it, that I didn't realize how bad of a deal that had become until recently. All my LCS options have increased their premiums significantly.
good video, aside from silver Philharmonics, I haven't acquired the gold ones... I always assumed that those would be harder to sell to LCS. I will take another look though, thanks
ebay has had ton of eagles for a while it was the only 1/10th and 1/4 oz around in the venue. I stopped buying them as I was thinking don't get stuck with one coin, no I have all plus some obscure coins
What are your thoughts on the US Mint $5 Commemerative gold coins? 0.900 fine, total of 0.24187 ozt gold. They can usually be bought for VERY low premiums.
LOL... "musical instruments are nice too" :-) I do like how large the 1oz Phils are. Feels like I'm getting more gold even though I'm not. I would like a Krampus coin also. :-)
I picked up a cheap 1/10oz Philharmonic gold about a month ago. Again being a collector it will be part of a 1/10oz type set. I also pick up 1/10 oz & 1/4 oz platinum especially while prices are far cheaper than gold. Have you looked into adding platinum to your stack?
What do you think about half oz gold Eagles ? My local coin shop got a bunch and they're proof ones but willing to sell it for the same price as just regular ones . Good content as always sir
Great coins. I've been seeing proof 1/2 oz AGEs lately too. I don't buy them only because I'm more interested in scheduled ~$500 purchases and then specifically timed larger purchases. They're especially nice if your state taxes purchases below $1,000.
They're similar in the US. Current conditions are atypical, but usually I'll get back 1-2% in premium over spot on an Eagle or Buffalo if I sell them locally. I'll get exactly spot for a Maple or Philharmonic if they're in good shape.
Well, everyone would like to get gold for close to spot but me personal I don’t mind paying a little bit of a premium for an American gold eagle but, on the smaller fractional coins that’s hard to do. Try to save up for a full oz but that can be hard to do because you will probably have to wait a couple months. If you’re like me I can’t stop going to the coin shop so... I buy fractional. I don’t really do it for making a profit just to have them just in case and as a savings account.
I don't mind a little premium either. It's gone well past reasonable levels, though, at this point so I'm looking at options. A Philharmonic is extremely well known, but it's priced like far more obscure coins. I'm like you on not betting on huge profits with gold. It's mainly there for security. Cheers!
Still picking these up? Premiums haven't changed much. I picked up a 1/10 Phil recently and want a 1/4 AGE but the price difference is significant with these
IMHO beside the philharmonics is on the boring side (even krugerrands it's not boring compared) there's one thing wrong with the philharmonics - the full ounce is too large a diameter. Krugerrands, eagles, even maples are IMHO better with their smaller diameter. Easier to store in same system as your smaller coins.

Highly doubtful that they are excluded from filing requirements. Why would they be just because they weren't on a list? That is not a good way to think about it from a legalistic point of view. Focus on Positive exclusions instead of negative exclusions to be safe.
They're excluded from the 1099-B form. That's very important to some people. They're no different in terms of actual capital gains laws, though. Thanks!
Local coin shops here will always prefer the Eagles (and give a small amount of premium), but philharmonics are about the same as Maples and Krugs here. An LCS will always take them.
Philharmonics are the best looking bullion ever made. The only two downsides in the american eagle are the Lady Liberty, because only the eagle is worth looking at and the fact that it's 22k. I like Buffalos because indians are better than lady liberty, but in general I don't like people's face in coins.

The maple and the Phili both have a rich yellowish color compared to the Eagles . Nice coins, they look great all different varieties together! Nice dip today in spot prices. Might be able scratch together a few FRNs and make a run to the LCS
Why would you think coins need to be standardized to US eagle sizes? Seems silly. Also, eagles look cheap next to a maple, buffalo and a philharmonic. I have never and will never pay extra for a coin I consider sub-standard. To me, eagles and kruggerands should be cheaper than buffalo's, maples and philharmonics.
They are cheaper, but probably my least favorite. Having more views from people who are NOT SUBS at least tells you your videos are being recommended...so thats good. If only people who are subbed watch, you can't grow.
So with the war in Armenia heating up, pretty glad I have some Noah's Ark coins stashed away... Might become scarce or even go into the scrap heap of history?

No air-tite direct fit made that size, so had to order one 21mm on ebay. ugh btw/ My new 1/4 ML looks small beside the 1/4 AGE. Next up will be a 22mm Brit or Phil.
Out here the Britannia is cheaper and more readily available than the Philharmonic, has anti counterfeit feature like the maple leaf and still 24k rather than that junk gold eagle. Being Canadian I might me biased, but I still think the maple leaf is king.
Maple Leaf is fantastic. The new Britannia wasn’t available at the time of this video. That’s the route I would have gone. Cheers!
The US mint: pay us more for our boring designs we never update. 🤡
I’m a big believer in the philharmonics! They receive the same tax treatment as eagles for much cheaper AND they are a nice looking coin
I’m a long time lurker, first time buyer, but I’m in. Just picked up my second!
What about liquidity?
@@_Hound_ they are just as easy to liquidate as an eagle or maple. No issues with liquidity
Yea I bought one ... I like the 999.9 purity. Why not.. 👍
Am a local dealer for Gold dust from Sierra Leone I can supply if want to buy, feel free to contact
I have a one-ounce Phil. The reeded edge is mesmerizing. But I don't want too many of them, because U.S. dealers won't pay you spot for them.
Some will, gold is gold
@@hugostiglitz4215 Not in my area, sadly.
Stupid dealers. Hold the gold
Once again thank you for awesome information.
Thanks again for watching!
I like 1/10 gold eagle maples and krugs are super expensive. The premiums are outrageous. Phil harmonics are still reasonable
Premiums have gone wild lately!
I got a 1/4 AGE for $225 this past Sunday at my local coin show . Happens once a month . I try every month .
tbh, price is the only thing that excites me about the Philharmonic.
Yeah, that's about where I'm at too.
22mm bothers me as well, plays in my head, guess that's why I don't have too many of them, it's just all about preference. THE SARGE
Omg I’m so with you on this! I got ten capsules for eagles and if I can fit a Phil in a eagle
Capsule then I’m down!
They definitely fit. 😁
@@2is1gold yep I paused the video and looked and the queens beast would fit too but you probably said that
@@LucyStacks yep. The Lunars fit too!
@@2is1gold haaa! I was gonna say that too but the lunars usually come in their own cap
I think Philharmonics are a value purchase, but they are a little boring. As you know, my favorite gold coin is the Britannia. The 2021 Britannia looks pretty cool with the security features. I'm going to buy one right now on Ebay.
I agree - they are a little boring. Great price, though!
@@2is1gold Great price. I have several. The first thing I noticed when I bought my first one was the diameter and thickness.
@@pudendajohnson1932 HI PUD. GIRLS LIKE GIRTH. LENGTH COUNTS ALSO. *TYU*
Brittanias are underrated for sure, one of my favorites under the libertad, I like them better than the leafs.lots of security features too.
I would only trade a few 1/4oz gold for a buffalo. But I really like my 1/4oz gold coins though. It's just fun to have alot of those
For years, my dealer gave me an even trade value, and premiums on the buying side weren't crazy.
Anything is 'harder' to sell at a US LCS than an Eagle or Buffalo, but the Philharmonic is similar to the Krugerrand - very well-known.
cheap(er) and .9999. What is there not to love :) Much Love from Vienna, Austria!
Hello! (And, yes, great coin.)
Have you ever tried to sell a philharmonic?
I'm wondering if they will get the stink eye at the lcs, in the usa.
Yeah, not much different than a Krugerrand at my local coin shops. They're very well known. Cheers!
Dealers in the U.S. aren't crazy about them. I mean, they'll buy it from you, but some want to pay you 3% under spot.
i agree I dont like the diameter difference on the maple
Krampus vs Mozart! Most definitely. 👍😆
😄
ebay has had ton of eagles for a while it was the only 1/10th and 1/4 oz around in the venue. I stopped buying them as I was thinking don't get stuck with one coin, no I have all plus some obscure coins
I can find them on a few community sites too. I used to be able to find them locally and pay cash, though. I miss that.
Great video again 👍
Thanks!
What are your thoughts on the US Mint $5 Commemerative gold coins? 0.900 fine, total of 0.24187 ozt gold. They can usually be bought for VERY low premiums.
I like them, but I don’t have many. Given a choice, I prefer the 24k commemoratives.
Really interesting! I subscribed!
Thanks!
LOL... "musical instruments are nice too" :-) I do like how large the 1oz Phils are. Feels like I'm getting more gold even though I'm not.
I would like a Krampus coin also. :-)
😄
What is the resell value and process on the Philharmonics and Maples compare to the Eagles and Buffalos? Is it as simple, over or under spot? Thx
They're similar in the US. Current conditions are atypical, but usually I'll get back 1-2% in premium over spot on an Eagle or Buffalo if I sell them locally. I'll get exactly spot for a Maple or Philharmonic if they're in good shape.
Are there any mints that sell to the public online regardless of citizenship? It'd be a game changer to be able to order direct from a mint.
I don't know of any way to get bullion direct from a Mint being here in the US, unfortunately.
Maybe china? They seem loose with their regulations. Or India. 🤔
I love philharmonics
Very nice coins!
Cheers!
Yes the premiums are really crazy! Great idea with the Philharmonics I think I might get one.
Premiums are outrageous lately.
Absolutely. I don't remember anything like this happening before. Not even in the 2011 run up.
Lately? Try all freaking year
Still picking these up? Premiums haven't changed much. I picked up a 1/10 Phil recently and want a 1/4 AGE but the price difference is significant with these
The OCD struggle is real. 🙂
Yeah, that bugs me too.
Time to buy
Maybe. Today's dip is nice.
HI 2. I'D RATHER HAVE A BUFFALO. HAVE YOU CHECKED OUT THE US 1/2 OZ GOLD WWII 75TH ANNIV COIN COMING OUT ON 11/9? IT WON'T BE CHEAP, BUT IT WILL BE A BEAUTY IN HIGH RELIEF. *TYU*
I sure have. It looks great! My state charges 5% sales tax on “collector” coins, so it will be even more expensive for me!
@@2is1gold HI 2. MY STATE HAS GROSS RECEIPTS TAX, NOT SALES TAX. GROSS RECEIPTS TAX IS ON THE SELLER. THERE IS NO PASSING THAT TAX ON BY THE MINT, SO IT'S TAX-FREE. YOU SAY WILL BE, SO I GUESS YOU WILL GET ON TOO? *TYU*
Thanks!
What’s your thoughts on buying these Phil’s but living in the USA, meaning is it harder to maybe sell them at your lcs (over the AGE?)
Local coin shops here will always prefer the Eagles (and give a small amount of premium), but philharmonics are about the same as Maples and Krugs here. An LCS will always take them.
very cool brother I like that phill the design ehh dont care for it more for the price
These are a value buy to me, like a 24k Krugerrand.
@@2is1gold cant beat it !
Different Sizes ... nogo ..i feel it :D
OCD!
Philharmonics are the best looking bullion ever made. The only two downsides in the american eagle are the Lady Liberty, because only the eagle is worth looking at and the fact that it's 22k. I like Buffalos because indians are better than lady liberty, but in general I don't like people's face in coins.
Merci!!
De rien!
Hi lock on Croatian centar zlata on a American centar of gold and it has 4dukat 15g and 40mm that's big and if you don't have it it's great price I'm from Europe and have gold panda and philharmonic it's all 0.75oz but I'm 13 so it's OK I wish to the 30 to have 10000€ in gold
I just bought a goose. 2021.
Nice!
show 1 oz then ya will see how beautifull it is cuz its 37 mm, much wider than American coins.
My obsessiveness and compulsiveness go together like peanut butter and jelly.
Best friends!
Carrots and peas ...
At SD bullion
The maple and the Phili both have a rich yellowish color compared to the Eagles .
Nice coins, they look great all different varieties together!
Nice dip today in spot prices. Might be able scratch together a few FRNs and make a run to the LCS
Good luck!
Plase let me know which building is in this coin ? I mean in the wiener philharmonic coin
the britania is cheaper
I’d pick up a Britannia over a Phil today. When this video was filmed, they weren’t commonly available locally. The 2021 Brit changed things. Cheers!
I do see the fractional philharmonic marginally cheaper here in the UK then then other BU coins but imo the design is fugly
Gold is gold....if or when i sell mine it will mean the dollar is worthless
Why would you think coins need to be standardized to US eagle sizes? Seems silly. Also, eagles look cheap next to a maple, buffalo and a philharmonic. I have never and will never pay extra for a coin I consider sub-standard. To me, eagles and kruggerands should be cheaper than buffalo's, maples and philharmonics.
P.S. i hate the harmonic design as well. Lol
They are cheaper, but probably my least favorite.
Having more views from people who are NOT SUBS at least tells you your videos are being recommended...so thats good.
If only people who are subbed watch, you can't grow.
They're low on my list until prices get out of control! (On the subs, I'm not crying about it, but I'm surprised by the low number of subbed views. 😁)
My subscriber views are 10-17% ... its better when you are presented to wider potential audience.
@@SilverHeist I have one video that has like 2% subbed viewership. I feel so used! 😂
So with the war in Armenia heating up, pretty glad I have some Noah's Ark coins stashed away...

That does seem like a cool coin. Far more profound subject matter than most.

It's not as ugly as this one, plus with historical events of uncertainty happening, they may dry up.

I've been to the Armenian Holocaust Monument in Montebello, California and have several close friends from that area code.
Its a sad situation in Armenia, but i think that war has no influence bout the minting of the noahs arch coins.
They are minted in Leipzig Germany, the LEV mintage.
But really nice coins
