Cuba Lamding is one of the more challenging marinas to enter and exit, the channel is extremely tight!! Been there and done that! LOL. Pickwick is just ahead and is beautiful as beautiful as well.
The good thing was no harm, no foul - and you are right, as Captains we all have to make the best call for the vessel, and conditions, and if something sounds wrong, in our opinion then we have to go with our gut feeling and do what we think……glad it worked out, thanks for the video
15:38 my hand built boat was on dock 2... Great morning,,, beautiful pup. I keep the Houseboat at cuba landing, great area for month long anchor spots . I keep the sailboat in bay spings, just after Pickwick. You guys should stay on the hook on bay springs no homes all beaches.
I did not know, much less appreciate, this kind of scenery, and these kinda river marinas, were around me in the southeast. This area has always been flyover country for me...at either 8,000 feet in the Baron or Flight Level 280 on a commercial flight (westbound). Gotta understand, for the pilot in me, I'm always wishing I was on the water when I see the waterways from altitude. For the boater/sailor in me, when I see an airplane overhead, I always wish i was up there goinhg to far flung destinations unknown. Thanks for the ground (or river) level scenery for this mixed up pilot/sailor/boater kinda old guy!! Vessel captains and pilots in command have a lot in common ( a really lot!).
Once again, a nice video. We all make mistakes and we try to learn something from it. Everyone including your followers thought what the hell just happened! Fortunately you guys did great! A cocktail is definitely warranted after that! Safe boating to you two on your adventure!
That must have been a scary few minutes as you drifted into the slip - yikes. Strange how we sometimes do something we would normally never do because we’re told to by a person in authority, with no time to really think it through. As you said, good lesson learned (and helpful for all of us - I’m filing it in my internal memory bank, because we encounter inexperienced dockhands all the time who do not fully understand the realities of operating a large boat, so it’s good to be reminded that we need to remain in charge in such situations!))
Thank you Kari! You are spot on with your comment! It happened so fast, I could tell in the video that Bob knew almost instantly, but then it was too late! Thank you for your support! :)
My wife and I watched this video several times and even shared it with boating friends. There is a lesson to be learned from this mishap. Thank you for sharing. Definitely something I will keep in mind when docking. Keep the great videos coming.
Thank you so much for the kind words!! We can confidently say we learned a valuable lesson that day! Each day is so different, we are learning SO much! Thank you for watching! :)
That's first time I've seen the old grain mill there at Danville in a long time some of it is gone. We used to have a cabin on west Tennessee side just across from that mill. Did a lot of fishing there if you could get fish lured out of the protection of mill there was some good fish there.
Thank you for sharing that Lynn! This stretch is just beautiful! We wish we had a better close up zoom of the grain mill. It was such a surprise to see! Thank you for watching!
@@cruisingandromeda I don't actually remember when it sit along side the river I was born in 59 it was always flooded. But my grandmother remembers it. That abandoned railroad tracks that ends on west Tennessee side has always been an idea fishing spot. The railways built that brem an put a access service road on north side of it with big limestone bank there an catfish always came up to rocks to feed. An she was born 1897 so she fished there dad fished there an so did I as a boy. It wasn't ever a fishing hole secret as long as I can remember when you went you better get there early even though that levee was a mile long you were certain to have a neighbor with a fishing pole nearby.
Thank you so much for sharing this! It paints a beautiful picture. Fishing some of the dams in northern Michigan is the same way...shoulder to shoulder. Thank you for watching and for this wonderful information. Best to you!
Coffee ✔️ Doggie ✔️ Cruising Andromeda ✔️ I'm so glad you made it in okay. This is but one of the reasons I appreciate these videos. Didn't know I was going to get my adrenaline going this morning too!
Thank you very much for the kind words! Best of luck in your boat search. We are seeing prices come down a little....they are still ridiculous, but better value than 3 or 4 years ago. Hope it works out well for you! Thanks for watching!
I think i might have repeated that back to him for clarification, maybe not tho, until you're put in situations you can never say for sure how you would respond. Glad it worked out.
Have you had your water maker troubles sorted out yet I’m sure a good part of this adventure would be anchoring and being independent of shore facilities
Yes, the pumps on our fresh water system have been working well! Thanks goodness! We do have a freshwater maker, that will desalinate saltwater....we will review that soon! Thanks for commenting and following along!
It’s hard to tell. On this portion of the loop do a lot of boats get up on plane? The lake seems plenty wide but it’s hard to tell how often the channel narrows.
Hello! There are definitely spots you can get on plane and make up some time. Its really up to you, your fuel burn comfort level, and where you are trying to get to. Thank you so much for watching! :)
Hello! That is what we have always done as well. In that moment, we followed the directions, but we will NOT make that mistake again! Lesson learned!! :) Dreamer is a 52 or 56 foot Krogen Express. I believe 2011?? You can find them on facebook at Sulley does the loop if you want more views of Dreamer! She is GORGEOUS! Thank you for watching!
I have been enjoying your videos. The Great Loop is an adventure that I would like to pursue some day. I am curious, what is Dreamer and how is the engine room set up?
Hello Greg! Thank you! Dreamer is a 52 foot or 56 foot Krogen Express, I believe a 2011??? Not positive. You can find him on Facebook at Sulley does the loop! He posts usually every day, and you can see lots of boat footage. It is GORGEOUS! The engine room is incredible. You may be able to find a boat tour on youtube! Thank you for watching :)
It was such a jolt, and it threw the boat to port. I remember the griding sound too... I still hear it my sleep! Thanks for watching and thank you for taking the time to comment!
That's a good looking boat...ever considered getting rid of that hoarding STBD side shorepower cable & stern in? It will be much easier to aboard & she'll look much cleaner 😅 Also not necessary to send your Admiral or first mate on the bow wandering around for 30 minutes...a competent captain will put the boat where needs to be so everyone can step off safely 😊 ruclips.net/video/z771gLxef28/видео.htmlfeature=shared
Hello! That is some smooth docking!! Your dog is adorable, thank you for sharing! We usually dock bow in mainly for our dog Ollie. He tends to not bark or be bothered by activity on the docks if he cant see them as much! He is very social lol! Thank you for watching!

Thank you Don! Definitely a lesson learned! We appreciate your support!
Thanks for sharing the hard part about turning the engine off. there is a lesson there for all of us.

Oh man that sucks but no one was hurt (Thank God) and a lesson learned. So sorry you had such a scare. Glad Y’all are ok.
Never a dull moment!!!! Lol We are chalking that up as a lesson learned for sure. Thank you for your support, we really appreciate it!
Did ya.ll make through the Demopolis lock. It looks like it is closed till May.
Yes we did! Thank you for checking! :) we appreciate it!

The dock hand made a rookie mistake. So did you.
Yep! I agree. I wont fall for that one again! Ha! Thanks for following along and thank you for commenting! Cheers!😀
That’s a hard one. My first thought it someone told me to turn the engine off is that there must be a line in the water near the props. That’s crazy.
