The reality is that SpaceX is so far ahead it's not even funny. This is only going to compound in 2020.
1. Nobody else has ever landed an orbital booster. It's been over four years now.
2. Starlink is already going up at a rate the competition cannot match. SpaceX will be the first to have an operational mega constellation service.
3. Only SpaceX is actively building a fully reusable heavy lift launcher. (superheavy)
4. SpaceX has momentum. Blue Origin hasn't even made it to orbit yet, Virgin doesn't have plans for an orbital system, and Falcon already wrecks expendable launchers on cost.
5. Starship is the only general purpose interplanetary craft in development. If successful, it invalidates every other existing option for missions beyond LEO.
It really feels like nobody else is even trying to compete; they're just hoping SpaceX goes away so they can go back to the good old days.
Wow
While that is true SpaceX is also good at sharing their techs. That said i know they aren't going to share their rocket schematics.
@@hurrayboy1995 Chances are SpaceX will give away F9/FH designs as soon as Starship is validated, but that would be like Ford giving me the designs to model T.
@@andyonions7864 yeah there's always hope. Sharing will lead to a greater success for humanity
@@andyonions7864 there's also the issue of whether or not anyone else would even use SpaceX tech if it became available. China would, but SpaceX can't share with them. Ariane is decidedly against reusable systems for now, Blue is already developing a F9 competitor, but far too late, and it's not like ULA is going to abandon their next gen expendable rocket overnight. Best case is a new startup, but launch is already a hard business to get into.
Space companies and agencies: “the moon is the future”

"Blue origin might have a strong competitor to face" lol spacex is years ahead and they move much faster. Branson is not really in the race.
Isnt Blue Origin by Jeff Bezos and Virgin Galactic from Branson?
The race to what? LMAO... helium boosted rockets? Honestly...
It is also no race. This is all about how far SpaceX can push themselves.
I remember NASA retiring the space shuttle and having zero plans to put people on the moon. People were depressed that we had fallen so far. Then SpaceX started getting publicity for trying to create reusable rockets. When that first stage booster landed successfully for the first time, that's when space became real again. We should all thank Elon for this. Even if Blue Origin leapfrogs SpaceX, it's Elon's fearless endeavors that made it all possible, and he deserves to be credited for it.
Not to mention SpaceX can do for a dollar, what it takes blue orgin a hundred to do.

12:43 till the end
My teacher said in exam that looking up at the ceiling will not help you find the answers
And then once you see a goal no one else has you run to it faster than ever, most people doubt themselves nowadays, but we all have the capability to be like the leaders of our world, and in fact some of us have ones far greater, we all need to step up together and take our future, make the changes we need and finally, not be to damn scared to look in another direction when it’s time. I’m just glad that I’m 17 and have a good chance at living thrugh the start of this, but I have massive goals and I honestly don’t care about actually hitting them as much as I care about just trying too. As much good as you might see in this video, bad people will always be out there, and the good ones are always going to be fighting to stay on top, that stirs the pot and slows things down but it’s life, and as long as we as a species can recognize the good things we get and the bad things we need to change I know will be alright.

Never expected that companies would compete against each other in the new space race
Anywhere where there is even the thought of being able to make a buck, companies will compete for the business. Renting out space on the space station to have a 3D printer that you could charge NASA to print tools and parts takes the cake.
Maybe that's the first steps towards the Science Fiction vision where whole stations, planets, star systems are owned by intergalactic mega-corporations. It also shows that worldwide globalized capitalism replaces geopolitical nationalism as the main driving force. That leads to a reduction of wars with two nations as belligerents but has its own problems.
Let's see what the future may bring.
They probably try to crown themselves the Kings of Moon and or Mars. 😅😅
Doing something for your country is dead, like in the cold war. It's now about making a profit and these companies have more power than nations.

Imagine people in 1969 excited for visiting moon, like we are of visiting space.
Did their dreams come true? No.
Will ours? I hope so.
humptyS I think it’s different now. In present we have private company investment rather than government, so I think finally they’ll make it. I mean in 1969 the most important motive for US to go to moon is because race with Soviet. But these companies are race for money, so as long as people are willing to pay they’ll keep investing in it.
@@petchlnwzaaa In the 60's we had the dreams of NASA. What we have now is not the dreams of the 2020s but a recreation of the dreams of the 1950s. We are finally seeing the dreams of Robert Heinlein coming true before our eyes. Musk and Bezos are trying to be D. D. Harriman in The Man That Sold The Moon. They are trying to match Destination Moon. They are trying to recreate the stories of Jules Verne. That is what has me excited.NASA has tried to keep us interested by mentioning that a woman will land on the Moon. Musk and Bezos are talking about building permanent towns there.
Certainly not. Any future space travel will be based on the most current cgi we have. The last one was a studio production the future ones will be pure CGI with VR with a mix of holographics. Our reality is shifting to digital.
What we got out of the 1960's space race was satellites. Those have made some amazing contributions to our society. So the old space race wasn't a bust, it just didn't result in space colonies.
This one so far is giving us Starlink-type WiFi. Not a failure either.

So far they launched 3 times, 60 satellites each. That makes for 180 "production design" satellites. Has the voice-over been done before January 7 and only the editing at a later date? That would explain the count (Jan-7 marking the launch date of the 60 satellites unaccounted for :P).
