I never understood how to use the double ended hook. I learned about it many years ago from magazines, but never caught on how to use it, nor did I understand what it was used for. Thank you for decoding the mystery for me. Your instructions were very easy to grasp.
I have learned so much from your channel. I like the fact you do not talk about a bunch of "fluff filler" of nothing of any real importance. You get straight to the topic. Thank you!! :)
I’ve had one in my crochet bag for 10 years 😅 without knowing how to use it. I decided today that I either learn how to use it or donate to someone who does know how. Thanks to this video though, I can keep my beautiful hook. Lol. 🧡
You are my absolute favorite teacher in technique! Your tutorials are straight to the point, short and simple but well detailed and very easy to follow. Thank you so much for these videos! 💛
Wow! I've never seen these hooks being used before. I absolutely love all your tutorials; you are always so clear to understand. Thanks so much! I look forward to your next video!
I was gifted a flat full of hooks of all kinds along with knitting needles a friend go at an estate sale. I have slowly been learning Tunisian crochet, and now thanks to you I know how to use the double ended hooks that were in the box.
Tardy to the party, as usual. I had to let you know this is the first video I've seen that made the light bulb turn on! I've struggled with Tunisian crochet for a very long time, but THIS is something I can do! Thank you so much!
Ohh.. Great! Never seen a double ended crochet hook. This is fantastic! Of course you make it seem easy. You take it nice & slow, perfect for beginners.. Thank you.
Wow fantastic I'm going to have to try this. Besides being very practical to create the non curling fabric, it also looks super satisfying to build up the stitches and then take them off!!!!
Thank you so much for showing us how to work with those hooks, I've seen them a lot but was trying to figure out how to work with these hooks. Great tutorial 🙂
Donna, Thank you so much for this tutorial it's gorgeous! You always have great pattern designs for us and your tutorials are very much appreciated! You are very blessed and talented! 🙂 Xoxo From Carol
Thanks for your help, I never knew how to use the double ended hooks. Was just thinking about doing something like this for my mum. And was wondering how I could get it done. Problem solved😂. Thanks honey for all your videos /tutorials on everything. It’s most appreciated. Over the pond in Northern Ireland.
Well what to say Miss Donna crochet diva….thanks I inherited hooks from my Grandmother… I gave them away ….bc …she never had time to show me how to use them …. You well you did thanks!
This is SO COOL! I love it! Thank you for explaining this. I never saw it before and you explain things so clearly. I really appreciate learning new things.
Wow how neat I saw these hooks before but never really knew what or how to use them lol Miss Donna I think I will get one of those hooks and give it a try 🤗🤗🤗 you and your family stay safe 💞
I appreciate you teaching us how to do Tunisian in the round. Questions: •How do we move up to the next round on the first example? •Do we just start putting stitches on our hook again? •Do we do that with the color we just used to take the stitches off the hook?
I've seen these hooks before but never knew how they were used. Your explanations were clear and easy to follow. I see some in the round tunisian projects in my future! I have a question about the flat fabric: When do you change colours to achieve the striped effect? Would it be at the point where you used the blue yarn for the second time?
Yes, you can switch to pink instead of blue. Sometimes a self-striping yarn looks good too instead of the plain blue. (Still use a secondary solid color like the light green).
What I love about this style of crochet hook is that I can make a double sided blanket with it. I can make the colors reversible with different colors dominant on each side.
Would it work to use the same technique you used in the round, but doing it flat? It appeals to me to use the shorter hook - I always prefer circular needles when knitting because I find it the shorter needle length easier on the hands. But it is difficult to find double ended crochet hooks with a long cable between unless you buy a whole set which I am not prepared to do yet.
The short answer is yes, it absolutely works with this technique. The longer answer is 1) the work will need to be turned after each row so the look is a bit different than working in the round. Since you knit, it looks a lot more like a modified two-color garter stitch to me. 2) On the last stitch, the placement of the yarn ends are a bit awkward. Whatever you do, as long as it's consistent it should be good. In my case, I have one loop left on my hook with the second color, then I do a chain 1 by bringing the first color back up, turn my work, and proceed with drawing up the next 7 loops (or whatever) with the first color, then taking them off with the second color. The good thing is both yarns are always in the correct place, so the two colors can be worked throughout nicely. Hope this helps!
A "double hook" is a tools with crochet hooks on both ends. Some tools that have a wire in between only have one hook on one end and a stopper or bead on the other end. That will not work with this. However some tools with a wire in between do have a hook on both ends, which absolutely will work with this.
thank you for this,a friend gave me 900 yards of yarn and wants a blanket with the 3 skiens she gave me this may work since she wants it to 50 inches by 46 inches.
I've made a good sized scarf on just the hook you see in the video with 45 stitches, by squishing them together a bit. I've also made scarf-sized strips and connected them together into a blanket. I have Tunisian interchangeable hooks and have made double-ended hooks with a longer wire in between for blankets.
I'm a newer tunesian crocheter. I am losing a stitch somehow when I try to follow along. I'm picking up the top loops as shown but at one of the ends I think I'm doing something wrong. Any ideas?
Hi Donna! Looks like I have to buy a double ended tunisian hook this time. This is a must if I work with more than 1 color of yarn, right? I cannot use the long one as well as the circular ones if I work with more than 1 color of yarn?
You can work with more than one color with traditional Tunisian hooks too. This particular double-ended hook just has different ways to create different looks.
Yes, you can. You can get hooks with a long wire in between the two ends to hold hundreds of stitches. Or you can crochet smaller sections and connect them together.
Tunisian is my least favorite stitch, the curly drives me batty so I avoid it like the plague 😆😂. I saw someone doing this and it intrigued me. Purchased the hook found you tutorial now I'm trying it. 🤞
Not really, because the color changes are on the ends, so it's easy to manage the yarn. If the color changes were in the middle, like in graph crochet, that's when I find yarn becomes twisted.
Maybe look closer again at 1:19 in the video. There are clearly 2 loops being removed after every yarn-over. 1 loop is a peach color; 1 loop is a coral color.

Ohhh...wowwww👍❤
Cool 😎
I never saw that hook. Interesting.
Interesting. A bit confused but, I think I could catch on. TFS
It starts to make sense once you do a few rows. 😊
never could figure out what they were for now I know thanks
Awesome
How do you use a short hook like this to make a wider piece like the one you keep showing us in this video?
is there a way to so simple tunisian stitch (one sided) using a double ended hook for a bigger projct ?
so smart!!!!! :-)
Are you going in the front posts?
Smart
where did you get the hook?
Cómo hacer el cierre final para que quede igual el color que al principio, en tejido en plano a dos colores y reversible?

With a double ended crochet hook, how many colours can you use? Is it possible to make a grapghgan with this hook?
Is a double hook the same as using the circular hole with the wire?

However some tools with a wire in between do have a hook on both ends, which absolutely will work with this.
Are there easy patterns or instructions for a beginner?
thank you for this,a friend gave me 900 yards of yarn and wants a blanket with the 3 skiens she gave me this may work since she wants it to 50 inches by 46 inches.
What is the yarn you are using? I’m gonna try this
Hello!
Have you made any scarves or blankets using the 2nd tutorial? If so, how long was the hook? Thanks!
I've made a good sized scarf on just the hook you see in the video with 45 stitches, by squishing them together a bit. I've also made scarf-sized strips and connected them together into a blanket. I have Tunisian interchangeable hooks and have made double-ended hooks with a longer wire in between for blankets.

How many stitches for blanket lap thank you
You can find how to convert any stitch pattern to any size blanket with this video: ruclips.net/video/JUbRd3lmzww/видео.html&feature=emb_title
Can I please ask if you can make an afghan with this technique?
Yes, you can. You can get hooks with a long wire in between the two ends to hold hundreds of stitches. Or you can crochet smaller sections and connect them together.
@@naztazia Do you have a video or is it the same concept
@@aprilalfred2151 Using a larger hook, it's the same concept. Just chain more to start.
Tunisian is my least favorite stitch, the curly drives me batty so I avoid it like the plague 😆😂. I saw someone doing this and it intrigued me. Purchased the hook found you tutorial now I'm trying it. 🤞

What yarn are you using?
Mill ends (odds and ends with no name on it) type from my now-closed local AC Moore craft place.
👌❤😊
Doesn’t the yarn get twisted?
Not really, because the color changes are on the ends, so it's easy to manage the yarn. If the color changes were in the middle, like in graph crochet, that's when I find yarn becomes twisted.
Hello nataziya mam how are you you are looking so beautiful today
Beautiful video thanks a lot please reply me ok
Thank you!
I’m confused. You said take off 2 loops as usual but you were only taking one loop off in video, did I miss something?
Maybe look closer again at 1:19 in the video. There are clearly 2 loops being removed after every yarn-over. 1 loop is a peach color; 1 loop is a coral color.
Thank you. I’m sorry the colors messed me up. So sorry. Great job!
Thank you so much!
You're welcome!
