      hi Debbie. Since I too only speak English, I use the translate option in the CC. click on CC to start it. If it's not in English you can click on the "gear" on the same line as the CC button. Then next to CC, you can change it to translate into English. Also, in the description is a transcript that usually has a language button. If you copy the transcript I suggest that you toggle the timestamp. 😀

      In America, we call this 'crochet'. Our interpretation of knitting is the use of two long aluminum or sometimes plastic pointed needles instead of the crochet hooks. 😂 Po Tay toe, pa tah do (potato 🥔), Misery vs Missourah (Missouri), EYE-RAN vs iih or ear RON (Iran), EYE Rack vs iih or ear Rock, (Iraq) and how bout THIS one 'New clee ar' vs nook you lerr (nuclear) the creme de la creme mispronunciation. It's just that the word 'knitting' is used but crocheting is what I see. I DO agree that she made all things clear, English or not.

      I attempted to. I was set up to teach a crochet for beginners for my third, fourth, and fifth graders. I had the yarn, crochet hooks, and various materials I had made up with pictures as step by step to making stitches. My class was cut 1 week before school started. Now as I have the opportunity I teach anyone who will try here in my community. I have more hooks then I will ever use.

      There are many interesting stitches beyond simple stitch. I like the effects but Tunisian crochet eats up yarn to make thick fabric and I find the long hook tricky because I use the pencil hold. Must practise the knife hold, lol.
      Happy hooking, Karin!

    • @karindickinson7993
      @karindickinson7993 3 года назад

      @@suzannelaing2968 the knife hold, as you call it, it's easy. I say, it's easy, because I have " grown up " with it. I have so many " leftover wool". I should start a blanket. Now the dark time comes and I always have the feeling to something with my hands, knitting, crocheting, embroidery. When spring comes, I tell you what I managed to finish.😄😅❤

    • @suzannelaing2968
      @suzannelaing2968 3 года назад

      @@karindickinson7993 I like to see that. I've used pencil hold for more decades than I care to think about so swapping to knife hold is like you using pencil hold now.
      I didn't realise there were 2 holds until a friend was struggling to learn despite help from her very craft able but elderly Mum. She learned first lesson and is making bed throws and everything now. Chuffed!

    Many thanks to Google and RUclips for making it possible for "an old dog (me) to learn new tricks"! Although I couldn't understand a word of what the instructor was saying, her video was perfect! This could only be done with the help of people such as those in your companies who make the miracles of modern technology possible to be in the hands of commoners like me. I am truly grateful.

    it's so soothing to watch - the music, the voice, the technique - Thank you very much for sharing! I think I found the pattern for a baby blanket for my SIL ^^
    I still making lil samples to "feel" the patterns. Bc it will be a summer child and I would like to have a rather light blanket for them. Though I also experiment with the needle sizes bc that also makes a huge different how "fluffy/loose" the stitches are =)
