      Get an education on the Federal Reserve. I cannot trust anyone saying "The Government Prints Money". Fed is a private bank and it's owners own ALL other Central Banks. Printing money out of thin air allows you to buy the entire world

      I actually hope this gets to you're eyes and not just skipped over! I want to be careful as possible as people are just using a common comment that trigger a problem for someone. But again it's just that they using the only actually one true police department that has to be held accountable to the highest standards and the only true police of the United States! This is a horrible idea and it literally takes a lot more effort and screening to become a real sheriff and that came from a few sheriffs mouth in the 90s and into the 20th century and it literally came down to this older sheriff and stated that it would take some time and effort to train the BAD Training in the basic principles of the police department Training and the other few problems with a few military training issues that were made to do the whole job during a war effort and the tendency to get violent in certain areas and the United States sheriffs are a police force for the country and the public and not just a paid job in a individual state that has certain laws and regulations for that state and the entire wording is right there in this answer! Paid by the states and the towns that have trained certain individuals who is not held accountable to the highest standards and often they have very poor technical skills in high stress management situations and then they will keep making the entire same mistakes and if caught the individual will move forward to another township and then start the process again and again. But I agree it's not a good idea to start a divide between a normal G owner and the general public that can seriously get into a bigger mess with a very small mistake and then the general public could possibly make the hord mentality to be very vengeful by a few too quickly mistakes that can tear a township into separate lines and it's just going to be bad from that point.       Law enforcement is also a Militia. Militia's were used before sheriffs and police existed to enforce the laws of the country. Judges had the local militia on call then. Finding where exactly our people stopped helping to enforce our countries laws and relying on paid enforcement is the key to finding that out.

      How is it indisputable when it's constantly in dispute? Even the Supreme Court has conflicting decisions regarding such things. Currently, they even allow the states to require carry permits. It seems like the 2A is the most disputed amendment in US history.

      When I saw first video I assumed it would become a “how to” police training video. Now I think of it as a cautionary for the rest of us. If I were somehow to find myself in similar situation, I doubt I would handle myself nearly as well and i would be unlikely to generate similar public support or donations to handle legal expenses.
      We need to improve our prosecutors to prevent political persecution AND improve legislation to better protect the innocent.

      I agree. But the courts go off of 1886 presser vs. Illinois. The supreme court decided that because of article 1, stating congress' authority over THE MILITIA, that private militias not under control of the state are not legal. So states go off of that ruling

      In this particular case I think that is where this is intended to end up. I do not think that the Sheriff has any nefarious plans with any of it. But, I think those way up the chain, so to speak, do have nefarious intentions. Using the Sheriff till he or she realizes they've been had. By then it'll be to late.

    In the 70's my dad was a game warden, and volunteer sheriff deputy. They had one week of training for people who served in the military, in 2 months of training for people who had no military or law enforcement background. They were basically first responders during hurricanes, what other natural disasters. They served as security guards for emergency shelters and food Banks. They also helped doing rescue situations. They would often bring in personal boats, and other equipment in order to help the sheriff's help people. They got together a few times a year basically just to get to know one another and know the sheriff's so that when something happened they were familiar with one another, and had been vetted. I see no reason why they shouldn't be paid for their time and work when they are pulled from their personal lives.

    That pay rate is a joke. You could not hire private armed security company for that amount. We the people of New York State militia could not afford the liability Insurance for that price. Not the best solution for the problem. Better solution would be training the judges to NOT release anyone charged with violent felonies and keep them in custody until arraignment or full adjudication.

    If they're former Police Officers, they have already been trained. Former military are not trained for LE work and should be trained in the law and civilian policing. Untrained citizens should have to go through the whole process.

    If things are bad in the environment, with others, "WE" are the militia.

    I was a reserve deputy for 20 years. I received no pay or benefits. Bought all my uniforms and equipment. when I was on duty I had the same powers and authority as a full time deputy. After 3 years of patrolling I was made a detective with our CID. The only reason I quit after 20 years is the DA and the Judges. I loved helping we the people and giving of my personal time enriched my life. I recommend doing this to anyone that wants to give back.

      That is a system wide problem. Relaxed standards of qualification, "woke" politics, poor education, insufficient training, reduced budgets and a greatly reduced pool of qualified applicants all play a significant role in the problems facing law enforcement today.

Our laws are vague, contradictory, confusing, imprecise , grossly redundant and often written by ignorant, personal agenda driven fools that represent special interests more than the citizens who put them in office. Perhaps ignorant is the wrong label and they've taken a deep dive into the well of stupidity!!     There's another reason the county exec is doing this. If they are considered any type of law enforcement they are exempt from the gun restrictions in New York state The county exec in Nassau County is a Republican and I work closely with some of the law enforcement agencies out there.

    What irritates me is that I’ve voluntarily spent $1,000s of dollars of my own money taking advanced firearms classes, including multiple active shooter classes, over the last 5 years. I have more training with firearms under my belt, than most law enforcement, aside from SWAT and specialized OPs groups. And yet, at the end of the day, it all means nothing in a court of law, if I’m forced to draw my firearm in a self defense situation. U.S. law, is in favor of the criminal, not the defendant…especially, when you’re a civilian

    As a Federal Flight Deck Officer who received 1 week of initial training I support this. Specialty training does not need to be the same as a full time police officer. Police training does not always produce quality products I.e. the acorn Cop!

    Throughout our history we have had posse's and local and deputized citizens that aided law enforcement. But to hire citizens as a a force under a county officer that is not law enforcement is some how unsettling and possibly illegal.

    My son wanted to be an officer of the LAPD. He went through the schooling and field training, but wasn't allowed to become a LEO because he turned out to not see blue colors accurately. As you can imagine, he was devastated. He said that the education portion was grueling, but that the street stuff was the toughest thing he'd ever done.
    So, I'm with you, Jared. Insufficient training could lead to abuse and violation or peoples civil rights.

    Many Counties in my state have a "Sheriff's Posse" consisting of volunteers from the public. Most are armed. They are used in cases where Deputies are too few to cover the problem. It has worked this way for years! They are not used as regular officers.

      Reminds me of Auxiliary (unpaid) versus Reserves (paid) where I live. The Reservists have full Police duties and powers and can be called up, as needed. The Auxiliary are trained and used, generally with another officer... and it is Voluntary, except for the equipment, which you get (minus the firearm, they feel a stun gun is "just as good").

    This is a county militia, not private. It's a good idea if used properly. It also reminds us that we are supposed to be in charge. We are citizens, not subjects. Its our responsibility to ensure our public servents are doing their jobs and that the law is being followed and enforced properly.
