Operating for nearly fifty years, first as the Dutch Inn, and later as the Lighthouse Inn, this sprawling wood and brick motel has been closed since 2017. In the years since, disuse and neglect combined with the harsh seaside environment has lead to water infiltration and a rapid deterioration of the building structure. You won't believe how overgrown the indoor pool is! Join me for a walkthrough in early 2024 to see what's left inside as the building is prepared for demolition, with lead and asbestos abatement about to commence. For a structure that's been abandoned for so long, I'm surprised there's no vandalism. Just mold and decay. Looks like the motel was a nice place in its heyday.
I remember the Dutch Inn when it first opened. I thought it was a hideous building back then. Due to neglect, it is even uglier. A wrecking ball will put it out of its long misery! Thank you for sharing, Marc.
I always loved the old style 2 story motels, they almost always had a restaurant/bar on property. For whatever reason they always seemed more cozy. I still like to stay in them whenever I can find one while traveling
Aw, the Sandbar was my dad’s restaurant (I even designed that logo for it) After so many hours spent in the restaurant, kitchen, pool room, apartment etc seeing it like this is so strange and sad, but also really cool. Thanks for making this vid
In other countries, when. Business goes under, owners are required to demolish the structure and clean up the eyesores. Why do we allow these kinds of unnecessary eyesores to continue to exist?

I love that to demolish this, they have to work with PRX! (also, in the timestamp text, intro is misspelled inrtro)
Torn down in 2024
Stayed there many years ago, had great entertainment at the poolside !!!
My mother worked here in the early 1970’s when it was the Dutch Inn. It was a beautiful place back then.

I liked the old Dutch Inn
Remember the parrot they had in the lounge. What was his name? It's driving me crazy?
Sam
Family members had wedding there
You could never park there without you car being covered, I mean covered with seagull crap.
Yeah I can imagine. What a mess lol.
