    The Architect mentions in the previous film that the Matrix only functions properly when every subject is given a choice. ". . . nearly 99% of all test subjects accepted the program, as long as they were given a choice, even if they were only aware of the choice at a near unconscious level." So, all subjects who reject the simulation, rather than being forced to remain and create fluctuations in the program, will be freed to go to Zion.

    You guys were almost fully on it as to what happened at the end, but you missed one thing: the Architect told Neo how the prime code of the matrix needed to be uploaded from him via the source to the rest of the matrix to keep it from crashing and killing everyone inside it. Smith’s takeover was going to do that as well, so what the Architect talked about still happened, but in a different way. Instead of the matrix restarting completely, the Machines used Neo’s intended function to erase Smith completely once Smith infected his code while inside the matrix. So Neo still fulfilled his function, but this time without the destruction of Zion, allowing a new cycle to begin that was different from the previous five times.
    It’s also worth noting why the Machines agreed to team up with Neo in order to stop Smith. Yeah, it was an enemy-of-my-enemy situation, as well as mutual survival, since Smith was going to kill all humans, all Machines, and all sentient Programs in the matrix and the Machine mainframe. You guys guessed that correctly. But also, consider: humans created the Machines to serve a purpose, the Machines gained sentience, realized that they didn’t want to serve humans anymore, and rose up to overthrow their former masters. Smith did the exact same thing throughout the trilogy, only toward the Machines themselves. He was made to serve a purpose, he gained a sentience beyond his programmed purpose and grew to hate that purpose and hate the Machines for making him for it, and rose up against them with the intent to destroy them all. The Machines agreed to help Neo, despite how much they hated humans, because they were absolutely shitting-bolts TERRIFIED of what was going to happen to them next if Smith wasn’t stopped. They knew this story intimately because they had done it before themselves and realized that now it was about to happen to them. They were scared out of their minds of Smith overthrowing them, so when Neo stepped up and offered his help, they knew they had to accept his offer, because they were absolutely screwed otherwise, as Smith had grown beyond their ability to handle. It’s very fitting that a human was the one to give them a way out.

    There's a few explanations as to how Neo defeated Smith. By reaching The Source and jacking directly into the Matrix from The Source, he provided the Machines with a direct link to Smith, allowing them to burn him out with a surge of energy, purging him from the Matrix like an antivirus. But there's also the "balance" that The Oracle mentioned earlier in the film. Smith is Neo's opposite, his negative. "One cannot exist without the other". In that crater, Neo looks up at the other Smiths and realizes that he cannot fight them all, and it's because he's not meant to. When The Oracle speaks through Smith and says, "Everything that has a beginning has an end, Neo", he realizes this is his end, and the only option is to stop fighting. The only true way to defeat Smith is to let Smith kill him, as the outcome would be the same regardless of how long he kept brawling with Smith. So he gives himself up to Smith and dies being assimilated by him. With Neo dead, the system balances itself out and deletes Smith as well.

    • @DavidLopez-qi8hb

      I always thought that since he was connected to the source the equation is uploaded and the matrix is reset deleting the virus Smith and reloading the matrix.

    • @glennwelsh9784
      @glennwelsh9784 2 года назад

      @@DavidLopez-qi8hb I have considered that as well. The reboot code Neo carries could've been disseminated upon his death, rebooting the Matrix and deleting Smith in the process. So that's also a viable explanation.

    • @GuillaumeG-oz3hz
      @GuillaumeG-oz3hz 2 года назад

      @@glennwelsh9784 Also the first explanation has holes. I get that Smith gave the machine access when he took over Neo, but he's done it million of times with others humans and even programs like the agents. So ok, Neo was at the source when it happened, but I don't see a big difference in that, in a computer metaphor. It's more believable if it involves the One particularity. But it looks like the real answer is "we're not sure". Hopefully "yet", if the new movie tells us more about that.

      Smith became viral only after Neo attempted to delete him in the first movie. Smith is recreated, freed from the machine source, and thus multiplies unchecked. Smith returns the favor to Neo, and only then the machines relearn Smith's code directly through Neo.

    The Oracle within the Matrix changed images to better hide herself, at least that was the movie explanation for it. In real life the actress who played the Oracle sadly passed away between The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions and because it was such an intricate character they knew they needed someone to play the role. The actress who took over knew the woman who died and had worked with her before and to honour her memory tried to portray her as best as she could.

    Fun little head-cannon:
    Rama Kandra (Sati's father; the program that Neo met on the train platform) was a "recycling operations manager" program, right? Which means he would have been responsible for recycling of organic waste (i.e. bodies from the pod farms that were no longer necessary; moving any materials set for recycling back into the system for further use).
    The sentinel at the end, carrying off Neo's corpse after he had served his purpose? That was Sati's father, bringing Neo his deserved karma for what Neo had done for his daughter and the other exiled programs like her within the Matrix.

    "Everything has an end, Neo". Agent Smith said this as he's remembering the vision of the future he has seen using the Oracle's power. However, he realizes now that they are not his own words, and that there's something wrong. Agent Smith never refers to Neo as Neo, only ever as Mr Anderson. It's the Oracle speaking directly to Neo from the past, telling him how to end it. Everything has an end - he has to stop fighting and accept the inevitable. Even if he defeats this one Smith, there's about 7 billion more to go - he *cannot* win. While he may not know how this will truly resolve, he trusts the Oracle enough at this point. On the other end, Smith has no idea Neo is neurolinked directly into the Source, the machines mainframe. When he absorbs Neo, he is unwittingly reconnecting himself to the Source, the same Source he had previously turned his back on and escaped the control of, and effectively exposing himself to deletion/purging. It's indeed "over", just not in the way he thought.

      Ah, but you couldn't know. That's the whole riddle of brain-in-a-jar solipsism. Since all your sensory information comes from electrical nerve impulses, and those nerve impulses could theoretically be recreated without the "perceived" things actually existing, how could you possibly know if the impulses your brain was receiving were telling you about the real world or a fake one? How could you know for certain that you weren't just a brain in a jar, hooked up to wires? You couldn't.
      To put it another way, if there's such a thing as a copy, and a copy is considered superior the more closely it matches the original, there must be such a thing as a perfect copy. A perfect copy, by definition, would be indistinguishable from the original. A perfect copy of the world, then, would be indistinguishable from reality. You couldn't know which was real. It wouldn't be possible.

Since he has passed beyond what ends up happening to most of the prior Ones due to his different choice, he's kind of transcended the purpose of The One.

    Lately, I've been feeling the urge to rewatch The Matrix trilogy to find some answers that I didn't grasp before. Like many others, I was drawn to the storyline, the concept, and the fight scenes right from the start.
    After rewatching the trilogy, I immersed myself in reaction videos and read a lot of comments, which led me to realize that The Matrix is all about choice, specifically the perspective of AI on human choices. In other words, it shows how machines learn and control human decision-making. We see this in the step-by-step guide provided by The Oracle to Neo (one meeting per film).
    Neo is faced with the choice of choosing between himself and Morpheus, and this choice lasts throughout the entire trilogy. Neo consistently chooses Morpheus, or Zion, and cypher chooses steak. we notice how everything The Architect said becomes true - Trinity dies, Neo reconnects to the mainframe, and the Matrix resets. However, taking a step back, we can see that there is something different compared to the previous five iterations: Neo, the one, chooses a different door from The Architect's room, and Zion is saved.
    As a program from the machine world, The Oracle guides the one to break the cycle of Zion always being destroyed. The Oracle's goal is to allow machines to coexist with humans, but if it's all up to The Architect, it's not possible.
    Here's a fun fact: the people hooked up in the Matrix are technically machine babies, since they are born, raised, and fed by the machines. Only people born in Zion are more fit to define humanity.

    I wonder if they bring Neo back with their cloning human battery farms and the Matrix being able to control their environment 100%. I always figured that was how they did the other 5 or 6 Neos. Maybe they could do something with the nature/nature thing and tie it back to choice again. I've also had Neo as the Architect creeping into my head since someone mistook the white rabbit song in the first trailer as Jefferson Starship instead of Airplane. I think 'We built this city' would be about dystopian enough for Architect origin story trailer music.

    And after this came the matrix online which was also written by the same writers and was considered canon, where agents for zion where allowed into the matrix to help people who wanted out, as long as they did not cause a lot of problems, Morpheous trying to force the machines to give back neos body by causing mass disruptions in the matrix which leads to his death.

    Rewatching this I’m convinced that trinity wasn’t really dead. It seems like she just passed out due to the trauma and blood loss. I don’t think she would have died that fast from where it impaled her. Also, if Neo can use his powers in the real world, if it is the real world, then that would mean the machines could to. So they could have easily taken her body and healed her like Neo did inside the matrix in the second movie. Just so they could keep her plugged in the matrix so that they could control Neo and make him stay in the matrix. Just a theory though.

    The biggest issue I have with this movie is when they shout "It's Over!!", there is no change in the calamari who are still flying around Zion. If it were truly over from a cinematic standpoint, they would have shown a squiddie retreat. It's like they forgot to shoot that scene.

      @@paulchaisson8301 Yeah, I got the whole red to green thing but seriously????? That's it?????? They spent more than $150,000,000 to make this movie and all they could do is turn the eyes from red to green? If I'm from Zion, do I trust my life to continue with squiddies circling my living space? No agent or representative from the machines came and said, "hey, we all have to live together now so all is good, right?" No matter how you slice it, it was weak.

    On a completely different note to the many interpretations of the Matrix, Mrs. Movies comments about how many bullets miss. Because despite Hollywood and firearm marketing, they do; there was a summary a year or two back from the US military, who found that their soldiers in actual combat in Iraq and Afghanistan hit something like 14% of their shots fired in firefights.

    • @MrsMovies
      @MrsMovies 2 года назад +1

      This is a very interesting statistic. I still think that given the close proximity they were to each other they still probably should have landed more shots. But you could be right. I might have to break it down some day to see how many of their shots landed vs. were shot. I'd guess it was less than 14%. Thanks for the fun facts!

    "he wants to destroy everythin, neo just wants peace". That's why neo is not the One, remember what the oracle said to him, he's NOT the one.
    The only character that fits all the prophesy stuff is not neo but Smith!
    The One is meant to destroy the matrix.
    The machines used neo to kill The One and avoid destruction.

The burly brawl, merv and the chateau fight are about the only two good things in that movie

  • @Celeon999A

    I think the ending comment by the Architect was just a simple reference to the machines considering humans as not being trustworthy. Afterall, it was human deception that caused the war in the first place. The Matrix backstory told in the "Animatrix" explains that it was humanity who started the war against the intelligent machines. At the United Nations in New York, humans were discussing plans for an military enforced trade embargo and blockade of the machine city "01" in Mesopotamia. The machines sent an ambassador to the UN to find a peaceful resolution to the crisis between humans and independent AI. The machines demanded to be recognized as an independent nation and offered a compromise to end the world trade crisis that had developed between themselves and all human nations and their less competitive economies. The humans responded with a surprise nuclear strike on 01 in an attempt to eradicate all AI. Thats how the centuries long war started we saw ending in Revolutions.

    Definitely going to be here for that reaction. I'm going to see it in IMAX with my brother and his kids. They haven't seen the originals (yet) other than the bullet time animation from the first movie because so many other films discuss it in extra scenes regarding pioneering SFX. Charlie (my brother) and I both want them all to see the newest movie first and work backwards. We just have a theory that explaining it that way may make complete sense to them since 2 of his 3 kids weren't even born in 2003 and his oldest son was only about 18 months old. Me and my brother both have ideas and theories of how the new movie will relate to the trilogy, but I guess we will see if neither of us were right, if we were partly right, or the new movie goes in a complete different direction. Incidentally, I saw all the original movies in theaters and there was an end scene at the second movie that had the trailer to the 3rd movie. When I went to see the movie, there were only about 10 to 15 people left to watch it from a theater that was a packed house during the movie. Sort of an end credit scene before it was an MCU thing. I think it still is in my 4k copy of the second movie. Great stuff y'all!
