After waking up at 6AM and driving 300 miles to get to the studio, after setting up the kit, warming up and playing fifteen tracks, our drummer still managed to play this incredibly demanding tune in one take at late night. You can see the tiredness in his face, but apparently that wasn't enough to knock him out :)

Its a technique that you use the rim of the snare to do, I don't know the name of it, but I see plenty of drummers using it. Apparently its not that hard to do.

Yes, and in metal it is known as the gravity blast.
He is playing 16th double bass notes with the blast at 2:24 instead of the original triplet pattern. NOW THAT'S impressive! Thumbs up for this future Inferno!
