Fast food places get you late at night. If you're coming back from a night on the town and want a hearty sandwich to soak up the booze, you have to hit up Mickey D's or Jack in the Box cuz the grocery stores are all CLOSED. I'd much rather make a burger at home than eat whatever the fuck is in a Big Mac, but when its 1:30 AM I don't have a choice. There's also the fact people don't wanna cook that late at night usually.

Read an article a few years ago that said the appearance of the McRib is tied to the pork market. That McD only buy the pork for McRib when the pork market bottoms out and they can get large quantities cheap.

The fact is the McRIb is a seasonal item. It is like that for a reason. Here is some info for you. You want to know the date when you can get the McRib? Don't call your local store call Martin Brower, they are the ones who deliver ALL of the items to Mc Donald's except the buns for the food items. That is done by a local Distributor.
