- Capcom would take a stab at a Roman epic in 2005 with Shadow of Rome. Mixing bloody combat, stealth and a murder mystery, does it form a cohesive whole?

When I was a teenager this was my favorite game ever (ignoring the stealth missions), glad that you covered it.
Had a lot of fun reviewing it, thanks for watching!
I actually loved the stealth missions lol
I've owned this game for years and had no idea that it was so story driven.
For some reason I assumed it was nothing but a series of gladiator style colosseum battles.
Good to know there's a lot more too this game that I thought.
It's very deceiving in a way, the front cover just has Agrippa so theres no indication of stealth.
But it's great fun, thankfully!
I MISS this era in gaming. Games used to be so creative and full of content. If this was remade today it would have a shit ton of armors for sale and the arena battles would be a live service.
Me too man. Me too. They just don't make em like this now.
To this day this game is easily still in my top 25 all time, and possibly top 15, or even 10. I LOVE THIS GAME!
This is such a good game. Everyone should play it on PS2 in its original format, one of the funnest games I have played.
why this has not been remastered yet is beyond me
Would be a great one to update!
Its the first dead rising game
I remember playing this in middle school..i LOVED this game.
Incredible game! and the replay value was insane coz I remember replaying it a whole lot, but i'll never forget the first day I played it and how amazed I was
Best gladiator game EVER
Just rebought this game. Can’t wait to replay it all over again .
Enjoy!
Underated as hell, can't go wrong with powerhouses like Capcom Konami & Namco from this era
Usually a safe bet! Even Konami were still good 👍

Most def 👌 think the whole crackhead collectors item boom of of late is a slight testament to how much people have taken that golden era of gaming for granted, (me included) 😂 thanks again, fabulous critiquing 🙂🤙
Yeah, it appears to have been a good stepping stone for Capcom moving forward...🤘🏼💯✔️
Wouldn't have Dead Rising without Shadow of Rome 2 not working out to be fair!
Is most brutal game and nice story i ever play it reminds my my youth i was 21 when i play on ps2
Still one of my favorite games.
Damn I always heard this was good but this looks REALLY good.
Might have to hunt this one down!
Its a stunner, and runs so smoothly! Its not too expensive so go for it :D
Shadow of Rome is a masterpiece
That looks really good! I was sure I'd played this from the title, but to honest, now I'm not sure I have. Great review mate, will have to seek this out :)
Maybe you were thinking of Gladiator: Sword of Vengeance or Spartan? There were a few games around this time set in this period.
Definitely worth it! Cheers bud
@@Steadysphere Spartan definitely rings a bell... I seem to recall the perspective being from further out, anyhow :D
This and Haunting Ground are 2 of my favorite unrecognized hidden PS2 gems.
Capcom had some real gems during the PS2 era.

Dino Crisis Plz
Interesting, hadn't heard of this one bro and thank you for the review. Think I'll add this one to my look out for when on the hunt list 😉🏴😃👍
Definitely, its 2 quid from CEX too so its cheap! Cheers bud and thank you for your support on these reviews!
Have you ever heard of or played the Tenchu games, Mr Steady? Because this game is like Tenchu, but set in Rome.
I have and reviewed the first game :) Can definitely see some similarities!
How can that be? Shadow of Rome actually looks good.
I've never given this game much thought, but it sounds like a decent romp!
Also heard Scott Menvilles voice in there (Robin in Teen Titans) so its not a bad VA cast either.
Great review Shane
It got overlooked at launch sadly, it's a great late-PS2 title. Yep, Scott voices Octavianus! Cheers Dan!
I love this game I love slicing people in half and I acc like how if you loose the gladiator fights you have to do em all over again because once you have mastered the huge mechanics the difficulty spike and big punishment for loosing I find always keeps the game engaging , obvs that's helped by the absolutely insane amount of gore and when your rewarded for throwing limbs and heads into the crowd it's always fun , but although I like how the creator used the stealth to stop the combat from getting stale and I find the stealth mechanics to be over all just good enough , the stealth missions level design really do kill the missions particularly in the late game the level design for the stealth feels very poor however that being said the level design at the start is ok , over all tho I do love this game and come back to it every couple of years
Why did Agrippa look like that fighting Barca? He looked like a zombie. 🤣
😂
A remake would better god of war 2018 by a mile
Most definitely
Great video review of a game I'd completely missed. Thanks for this!
Cheers for watching!
did you play on original hardware????
Yep, used standard def cables upscaled to 720p
what is the best gladiator game?
Probably this game tbf
@@Steadysphere over say colloseum road to freedom?
I'd say so!
@@Steadysphere interesting.
