Hey y'all! Happy Sunday! We have a whole lot more about our visit to Matagorda on our website including our list of 18 things to do when you visit Matagorda TX: rvtexasyall.com/region-texas-gulf-coast/visit/matagorda-tx . What are your favorite things to do there?
I was raised in Bay City through the 5th grade. We went to Matagorda nearly every weekend; my dad was an avid fisherman. I remember the devastation of Hurricane Carla. It's changed so much since then.
@@rvamericayall Thank you for the informative video. As soon as I get my old class C refurbished, I'll be back on the road again; I hate being stuck in Houston.
My hometown is Bay City not far from there, now living in Indiana I sure miss the family. I'm glad you guys had a great time. If you're interested in traveling to Indiana I'll show you around. Be safe..
Enjoyed as didn't know about the locks. I do love the Gulf Coast and hope this Spring I can go and see the Dolphins. Glad you were able to have some nice weather. Thanks and Love y'all.
My wife and I just returned from a quick 3 day trip to Matagorda Bay Nature Park at y'alls recommendation from your last video - we love quick midweek trips easily drivable from Houston! We enjoyed the park, the nature and riding our e-bikes around, thanks for the recommendation!
Great video! Brings an entirely new perspective to a sleepy little town I’ve only seen from the water as I pass trough the locks. Looks like y’all got 2022 off to a great start! Our year doesn’t start till June in Bastrop… I’m jealous and ready to be on the road!! Have fun, safe travels and see ya out there!
We full time too. Currently in Tucson. We are booked through to next January. We are traveling through Idaho and western Montana this year. We are staying mostly at Federal campgrounds throughout Idaho and Montana despite our 39’ Tiffin Red 37pa. I hope it’s not going to be a hot summer up there with wildfires. I think you will find Newmar service excellent at their new facility. Tiffin service facilities are old. Wasn’t too impressed on our second year visit. Matagorda seems like a fun place.
Yep, we have seen the nice facilities that Newmar has & are really looking forward to our appointment. It really passes the eye test just hoping it passes the customer service test. Thanks for watching & commenting. Good luck on your journey!
We went there one summer and the mosquitoes ate us up. Had to leave early and the park would not give us our $$ back. It was a neat place though. We kayaked across the Colorado river and found some huge shells!
Great video and content. I just subscribed. Fun Question.... What 5 Gulf Coast cities/towns would you recommend to any Texas Traveler who likes nature, some fishing and seafood? Asking because I am hoping to make it to 5 cities this year. Matagorda sure looked beautiful. I have only been to Galveston, TX. Thank you in advance.
Welcome Eddie!! That’s a great question. The most popular coastal towns are Galveston, Matagorda, Port Aransas, and South Padre Island. There is also a great county park with RV camping on Quintana: ruclips.net/video/lGG4NY1K2Lw/видео.html
Mentioning Matagorda Island reminded me of camping in Port O'Connor about 20 years ago. The Park service took us, our bicycles and others, on a boat to spend the day on the island. We rode our bicycles all over the island. We were amazed with the seeing lighthouse on the north end of the island as well as riding our bicycles on the tarmac from the island's military days. We attempted to locate remains of the former town of Saluria on the east end but didn't find it. A great history hunt!
We do run our A/C’s but our lithium is a 48 volt system that’s equivalent to 2400 AH of 12 volt or 24 100 AH batteries but we have it packed into 4 big Lithionics batteries. If you put a soft start on your AC and have your system hooked up correctly with an inverter that can handle the load you could probably run it on 600 AH at 12 volt for a little bit.
Sorry you two, I tried to buy on line, but they wanted more information and email crap than I understood! So I cancelled my order! Getting Older, but not stupid!

Ginger used to go there all the time as a kid, but hasn’t been there in years. Now we want to put it in our plans.
You will love it!

Wow, I haven't been there since 1967. It sure has changed for the better since then. Thank you for sharing. You two are awesome.
Thanks
I just wanted to thank you both for some amazing videos and being an inspiration for me to get out there and explore The wonderful countryside.
Thank you for that! That’s what keeps us motivated as well. 😊
Ate crawfish the last two days.. My favorite, could eat my weight in those mud bugs.. Love the smaller locations..
We do too! 😊

Love it! Beautiful place!
Yes it is!
Looks great. Last time we lived in Texas were in Austin. This time we are looking to base near El Paso.

Good luck in El Paso!
My home stomping grounds!
Thanks for watching

Thanks for watching, sorry those Texas mosquitoes carried you off but that’s not just in Matagorda.
@@rvamericayall oh I know it. They followed us to Port Arkansas after that trip lol!
great eagle pics
Thanks
Looking forward to 2022.
We are too Bruce!

Hey Tom where did you get the Jeep hat ?
Hey Karl! Picked up the hat at a dealership in Houston when we had our oil changed.
The island used to be a bombing range
Wow, did not know that & none of the locals mentioned it, thanks for the heads info!
@RV Texas Y'all only flew down there one time

When you dry camp, do you run your ac? If so how much would you need to run a 13,500 btu ac

Hey David! We’re confused. What did you try to buy?
Someone needs a haircut and a face trim. Nice video.
😂
