Watch Part 2.
I have done a sixties and a seventies version, so check them out if you enjoyed this out :)
Born 96, got listening to this as my parents took a trip down memory lane. Why can't music be more like this.
1982/83 were the most interesting years for music IMO.
Your right, give me the 80s anyday. 💯.
Appreciate this great compilation. WAs living in San Francisco going to the New Wave clubs where alot of these songs were played. Thanks for the memories...
true dat!!! i love reminiscing it makes all the worries of today melt away and brings back the carefree times of being a young teen in the 80's and rollerskating outdoors!!!
The seventies and eighties were the best, and then we grow up.
The best decade for music ever, top tunes with lyrics that actually meant something. I still listen to 80s stuff on a daily basis. Simpler times and a great blast from the past.
wouldn't know that from this list, most of the songs here was trash
Well I would listen to 80s hits anyday. 💯.
I'm a big fan of UK music and knew all these songs. This was a diverse group of music which never would happen in the US. What a great loss that John Lennon is gone. The best Beatle of them all. From ABBA, Blondie, The Jam, Shakin' Stevens, Buck Fizz, Soft Cell, Duran, to Spandau, love them all.
I've never heard of Buck Fizz. Can't say I'm impressed from this sampling. but they seem to have been very successful.
@@Kieop They won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981 and went from there with a string of follow-up hits.
Technically, the first Number One of the 1980s was Pink Floyd's "Another Brick In The Wall Part 2", which held on to the Number One slot for the first two weeks of 1980.
I was born in '73 and was too young to go to gigs in the early '80's but have in the last couple of years, seen both The Specials and The Cult live!! Adam Ant and Madness are next on my list!! ;-)
Taken back to the happy days of my youth, and the long hot summers days
Love all these songs, just brings back memories of my childhood.
Superb Thanks for bring back the vivid memories.
I can remember everyone of these fantastic songs.
Without doubt the 80s were the best time and more sane times.
Thanks
Respect
+Homer Bojangles ....."Superb" and "Respect"...what the english language was made for.
So glad I grew up with these fantastic, different and fun tunes ❤
thank you very much, brings back memories, watched from the 60's already, love you for posting...God Bless you
ITS GOOD TO SEE THAT SOMEONE TAKE THE TIME TO PUT TOGETHER ALL THE GOOD SOUNDS ENJOYED
YOUR 60S 70S 80S WELL DONE KEEP THE GOOD WORK UP
Thanks for this, brings back loads of memories of singles that i sadly no longer have of my teenage years.
ABBA rolled into the 80s from the 70s flawlessly ..
So I search find me every number one of the 1980's and found this gem. Happy times indeed and there's a part 2 to follow. Love it. Enjoy. Search every number 2 as well
What an excellent youtube vid to watch with a few beers. Brings back good memories. Thanks for this!
Great songs! Thanks for sharing
Bloody loved Bucks Fizz not even ashamed
The talent just in one month blows the whole naughies out the water.
In all fairness, the naughties were really terrible so that doesn't say much
I was born in 1976 love this era so much 💖💖
Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall part 2” was the first U.K. no.1 of the 1980’s as well as the last of the 1970’s.
Thank you Paul and no problem, glad you enjoyed it!
Spandau ballet look so young *sigh* loved them, where has all the time gone...

Blondie Rules! Lovely Debbie.
Nostalgia overload
ohh my dear lord .. the memories many thanks for posting :)
what a lot of good songs in the 80,s
some great songs.
Fantastic times
Definitely some good ones in the 80's . . . but, for my
personal taste . . . nothing compares with the 60's ;o)
I agree the 60s music is the best that's why a lot of them were remade in the 80s I can't see many songs from the noughties getting remade in 20 years time
can you
all great love the 80s
for those of usof a certain vintage, the best time of the night, the slow set I have often wondered how kids nowadays manage to meet each other in clubs.
Best decade of music EVER ❤️❤️❤️❤️🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
Oh your 80’s !! I need to make into a playlist! I am an 80’s girl through and through!
These songs are way much better than the song me have to put up with now I find it kinda sad.
Great memories...scary that I remember them all though!
Fantastic compilation, well done, really enjoying it :)
Todays music aint got the same soul - Bob Seager
+trendyjon1 your sooo right ....it has a different soul doesn't it Bob.
The Police, The Jam, Blondie, John Lennon, Cockney Rebel, Adam Ant!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Loved these songs, thank u!
Love this, thanks for the upload, brought back many memory's :)
I am *immensely* happy to discover that those of us here in the US dodged the bullet with Shakin' Stevens. I think we filled in the gaps with extra Police,
+Eldon Stracke II That's a definite win.
Absolutely brilliant! Thank you so much
Great memories, brilliant :)
Post punk and new wave surprisingly dominated the UK chart at early 80s.
utterly ACE track list buddy! love it!!
Early teens is when most of really experience music first, and at this age our most powerful emotions are also born, emotion and music such a profound human experience, and I feel so lucky that I was going through this in the 80s, for music seems to be the hearts amplifier, and the 80s was so rich with authenticity and originality. I feel as if the young of today are being cheated with the sterile mass produced crap that comes from the Simon Cowls of the world,
Brilliant, just a shame u-tube doesnt allow for video link so you could just play the full versions of every song in cronological order!
That would just be on my comp all day long :o)
Good to find this .suspect its broken about 50 copyright laws in use of music and images.lol.or is this fair use.hope the later
+Ludek Fierlinger ....ooo I so share your hopes and dreams.
the early 80's as groundhog years: YES please!
I didn't know that a band from my hometown, Düsseldorf has gotten a No. 1 spot in the UK: Kraftwerk :-)
Aha YES! ADAM AND THE ANTS!!! STAND AND DELIVER!!
Goody Two Shoes wasn't Adam & The Ants. It was just Adam Ant (he had gone solo after disbanding the group).
Thanks for clearing that up!
Even though this is true, the picture sleeve was printed as Adam and the Ants 🤓
I was born the day after Every Breathe You Take hit #1
Agree!
Superb!
Thanks, very nostalgic!
Have some nice flashbacks to some of these, and others I kind of forgot about. Thx for posting.
well done bro, my life in a box
susan boyle
TRANSPORTED BACK TO HIGH SCHOOL!!!
I'm off to watch some of these in full, thanks for a great compilation.
fuck, well done Romani. Just gone through your 70s. now this
Good songs!
Pretty sure "Goody Two Shoes" was just Adam Ant, not the Ants.
I can remember every single one!
Not sure if that's good or bad..........p
Haha there's a saying in germany (maybe in other languages too):
"Wer sich an die 80er erinnert, hat sie nicht erlebt!"
"Anyone who remembers the 80s has not experienced them!"
Jeeze....... Blondie had alot of number 1´s
Imagine
Woman
Don't Stand So Close To Me
The Tide Is High
Every Breath You Take
Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic
Pass the Dutchie
Let's Dance
Under Pressure
Don't You Want Me
Ghost Town
True
The Winner Takes It All
Down Under
You Can't Hurry Love
Three Eurovision winners (1980 [1:23], 1981 [4:27] and 1982 [7:52]) ... and were the last to get the Nº 1, I know.
Joe Dolche beating Ultravox-Vienna to number 1 is probably the greatest travesty of the UK charts.
Wasn't enamoured of Vienna, I thought it was a boring slab of pretentious self indulgence. But maybe I just didn't get it.
redhairkid Absolute Radio voted it best song of all 80s....I don't see how. Livin' on a prayer came second...It truly stomps it!!!!
Byronpat
My sentiments exactly, Byron. At least, you know what 'Livin' On A Prayer' is about!
It didn't really, Most of the records ultravox sold were up against john Lennon and had ran out of steam by the time joe dolche put his out. Bad timing all round against John Lennon ,Imagine; Phil Collins in the air tonight, then John Lennon ,woman
@@Byronpat Ew, Bon Jovi were absolute SHIT!!!! And I come from the U.S.! Don't you dare go disrespecting Ultravox, either, because they were really fucking amazing, both the version led by John Foxx AND the one led by Midge Ure, and "Vienna" is a goddamned classic. "Livin' on a Prayer" is one of the most overrated, overplayed pieces of crap from the '80s and if I have to hear that shit one more time, I'll strangle someone.
Madness
so glad I grew up with the 80s music than the dreadful crap of the last 20 years
Lennon4080, it's been crap for more than 20 years, the music has been going down hill since 1990. 20 years ago was 1998 and you had the Spice girls, Peter Andre, Hanson with their annoying do wop song, so yes, unless you like those the music really has been going down hill much more than 20 years !!
Andrew Dexter It hasn't been crap for more than 20 years. The general consensus amongst most people is that it's been going downhill since around the turn of the millennium. Brit-pop, which unofficially ended in 1997 (to coincide with Oasis's 3rd album) produced MANY great bands (and countless great songs) - just to name a few: Blur, Pulp, Radiohead, Suede, The Manic Street Preachers, Supergrass, Primal Scream, Cast, The Boo Bradley's, The Verve and if course, Oasis.
Surely the first Number 1 of 1980 was the last number 1 of 1979...Pink Floyd.Another Brick In The Wall (Part Two).
LOL you know id still watch it :P
Great upload thanks for the memories
Some wonderful memories, but where's the first song. Another Brick in The Wall was No 1 on Jan 1st
Look forward to Pt3 to finish the 80's, great collection.
Damnnnn how time flies....
Haha there's a saying in germany (maybe in other languages too):
"Wer sich an die 80er erinnert, hat sie nicht erlebt!"
"Anyone who remembers the 80s has not experienced them!"
loved it ! thankyou. I just went back to my teenage life
Thank you for putting up this compilation
fantastic many thanks for the memories
You should make a video about albums number 1, 70s, 80s, 90s
I'd like to see that. I've been looking for such a thing.
8:49 - every New Zealand pub in the country plays this at around 2am! :)
Best record of d 81 is obviously TAINTED LOVE- soft cell
Soft Cell regretted recording another cover (The Supremes "Where did our love go") as its B side as although the single sold millions, and stayed the longest in the USA charts (until ovetrtaken by Everything But The Girl's Missing) Royalties to the songwriters won over!
brilliant :)
just superb, thank you for this delight
omg when most of these came out i was only 13 now i do feel old lol x
+653sexybabe ...that would be because you are old....consider it anyway if your not convinced we'll refund your money in full.
I am curious what UK list these songs became number 1 hits?
Many of them didn't even make the billboard charts here in the States (US) although I do love alternative like the Jam, the specials etc. I was surprised the early 1970's MASH theme made a re-surge on the chart and what caused that? The John Lennon "Imagine" made the re-surge a day after his 1st Birthday after his murdered. (Oct 10 1981) Has been a long 35 Years now since he has left, I did noticed it this last week Dec 8th 1980. J.L. Forever.
+chris hazelwood The UK number 1s are taken from the official UK charts, Throughout the 80s the charts were compiled by the British Research Market Bureau up to the end of 1982 and then Gallup for the rest of the 1980s. The charts were published in Music Week and Record Mirror and broadcast on BBC Radio 1 and Top Of The Pops.
+chris hazelwood I've no idea what triggered the M*A*S*H song suddenly going to Number 1 either - very odd.
When John was tragically murdered,he'd just released a new album called Double Fantasy. The lead single Just Like Starting Over had peaked at number 8 in late November 1980 and was heading down the chart at 21,then it did an about turn and shot straight to number 1. Imagine and Happy Christmas (War is Over) shot back into the charts and got to number 1 and 2 respectively, the highest placed of a welter of Lennon singles breaking back into the chart. The second single from Double Fantasy, called Woman, then took over at number 1 and shortly after that we had Roxy Music covering Lennon's Jealous Guy. For several months the top end of the singles charts was dominated by John Lennon and Adam & the Ants.
The 80s didn't start properly until Kajagoogoo and Culture Club showed up.
Brilliant. Thanks.
I love putting this on
what good memories
the memories of when you lived at home and you had money in the bank
and you had no worries
but you thought you had worries lol
But the real worries of bills say were just a few years away
But at the time you didn't know that and when your parents were trying to tell you , you took no notice of them you knew everything lol
Now I sound like my parents because I'm telling my kids the same
@cockneybasterd Thanks for Posting this it has brought so many Memories.
Absolutely Superb.... thanks for posting ;)
Magic years of my life, 16-25 😍
What you all mean is that this is far superior to todays crap.
+LionheartNh ....you speak for us all...we thank you...take us to your leader.
Great compilation 😃
Amazing how many Eurovision songs went to No 1. Nowadays it doesn't even make the charts
pure quality
Roller Disco memories :)
Wow, just listening to the year 1980 makes me realise how crap songs are today,
