I have found this to be one of, if not the most true, sermons, l personally have ever Heard in 75yrs of my life, if you want to see Jesus, ask God, to help you overcome, this life of evil, God, is faithful, and if you trully mean what you ask from the heart, you will live in Christ, Jesus, and the father, of Creation,the Almighty Creator of life!!!

I was always confused when I hard his sermons... "Am I doing it Well ? So I am not saved?" Was my questions. All the time. I thought it was my fault to be confused and end up hopeless in my salvation

But The flock of God know their Shepherd, Christ, and they hear His voice and they follow Him. Yes the devils know that Christ is Lord. But they have no saving faith. If you truly "believe" the gospel of Christ, that gospel should bother your consciousness and compel your heart to live a life of repentance, denying yourself picking up your cross and following Jesus. Look we are all sinners and many pastors can say things that is not of the truth, let God deal with their hearts, but Instead of judging let's pray for them. Aaron L Repentance is the accompaniment of salvation though it's not salvation, but if you don't have repentance you don't have salvation. This space can be filled up with versus if need be. The non-belief system that is the implication of your comment should worry you. The etymology of belief is not just mental ascent because though people can conceptualize things, belief causes an effect on them. And the only external indication of belief is a person's response to that believe, otherwise they have no belief... hopefully this is not you.
I have sought truth about salvation. This is the biggest question for us because it is the one which we have an eternal price.... I followed God, fell back and came back. I searched hard and long for answers. I had a hard time with my salvation, knowing if I am saved, what it means to believe, was repentance genuine and why did I fall back into sin. Now, God has shown me so much and I did not understand why I was in the turmoil I was, but looking back, I see He wanted to show me Himself.

I struggle with making that decision to believe never mind putting everything I enjoyed down. I don't know how to do it. John linked the decision to follow Jesus exactly as how Levi did. However when Levi did not only was Jesus there in front of him but Levi also saw the direction he was walking in. You didn't know what was in that direction of course, Nor did he know a lot of the obstacles that that direction would lead to. But nonetheless he saw the direction Jesus was taking them. I struggle with this,Cause I know Jesus is trying to speak to me but because of an iniquity on my part i cant hear him or see him.

Action always follows belief. Action is the difference between belief and disbelief. To say you believe and not follow through by acting upon one's belief is not belief at all.

HI, Piper is defining what biblical "believing" is and what it is not. You are right, the Bible says "Believe ON the Lord Jesus..." - however, the demons "believed" He was the Son of God and yet clearly, their "believing" was not a "saving believing". Piper is defining biblical "saving" belief.

He didn't say believing is not enough, he said that true belief is more than just intellectual assent. To believe on Jesus and not find any joy, or any peace, or any satisfaction in Him is not belief in Him so much as belief in a biblical doctrine. The Phillipian jailer was filled with joy - his belief was in Jesus. Elymas the sorceror "believed" according to Luke, but his joy was in money and fame. He certainly did not truly believe in Jesus.
We have to balance that with what is said elsewhere. That's something even Jesus did, refuting Satan during his temptation by interpreting one passage in the Bible with another part. The question is what does it mean to believe in the biblical sense, that's the point of this video. If it simply means to agree intellectually with a concept, then we have statements by Jesus, John, James, and so on that contradict that. It's similar to how the words translated 'mind', 'heart', 'love', etc. don't always mean the exact same thing they would mean in common usage in our culture - in fact that's usually not the case, but there often isn't a better word that is more fitting. So we need to see how the teaching of the entire Bible fits together in these matters, not take one isolated verse and run with it to the exclusion of the rest. That doesn't resolve all questions of course - that's never going to happen this side of heaven and on some matters, not even then - but it will get us much closer to the truth than 'proof-texting' on individual encounters.
The way Piper explains it would cause his own son to deny his own salvation. Piper convolutes maturity with salvation. I would say that all those things he said are true about many believers but they aren’t always true about every believer in every moment. Being satisfied in all that God is comes with maturing and growth. Piper makes this impossible.
I think he is confused or perhaps deep in deception. I suppose that could equal “false” in that his teaching is complicated and obscure and heaps up burdens.

you are not the one who initiates salvation. what you do is to look for the evidence that the Holy Spirit has indeed changed you. regeneration comes first, you have nothing to do with it it is totally HIS work and HIS work alone!!!

Ok everyone in the comments hear me out. Yes believing is believing, not works is believing. But if we believe we should do works but also don't focus on doing works focus on believing in the risen savior and that his works done and you're going to heaven. This will make you want to do works because jesus loves you not because you're scared if hell. If you're doing works to try and appease God, trust me it won't work. You'll be in horror every day that you won't make it to heaven. This shows you truly haven't accepted Jesus as savior. I know I was this person. You most completely trust in Jesus. Trust that he has you, trust that he loves you, trust he died and rose again. You can't save yourself. You're unworthy, just rest on Jesus. I know it's not easy to believe, that's because you're dead in your sin. We are saved by grace through faith ALONE. I used to like listening to this guy, but he seems to make things more difficult everyday, he needs to self examine and stop looking at everyone else... i just repented and believed..the simple message of the gospel. Why make things so difficult. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved. Just blabbing on and on and on...complicating the gospel ain't helping. I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. Probably for the same reason that Paul wrote to the Corinthians to examine themselves. People being in a congregation doesn't make them believers. One would certainly hope and pray that most of them are, but it's entirely appropriate for believers to compare themselves to the gospel warnings of the bible.

I have sought truth about salvation. This is the biggest question for us because it is the one which we have an eternal price.... I followed God, fell back and came back. I searched hard and long for answers. I had a hard time with my salvation, knowing if I am saved, what it means to believe, was repentance genuine and why did I fall back into sin. Now, God has shown me so much and I did not understand why I was in the turmoil I was, but looking back, I see He wanted to show me Himself.

I struggle with making that decision to believe never mind putting everything I enjoyed down. I don't know how to do it. John linked the decision to follow Jesus exactly as how Levi did. However when Levi did not only was Jesus there in front of him but Levi also saw the direction he was walking in. You didn't know what was in that direction of course, Nor did he know a lot of the obstacles that that direction would lead to. But nonetheless he saw the direction Jesus was taking them. I struggle with this,Cause I know Jesus is trying to speak to me but because of an iniquity on my part i cant hear him or see him.

HI, Piper is defining what biblical "believing" is and what it is not. You are right, the Bible says "Believe ON the Lord Jesus..." - however, the demons "believed" He was the Son of God and yet clearly, their "believing" was not a "saving believing". Piper is defining biblical "saving" belief.

He didn't say believing is not enough, he said that true belief is more than just intellectual assent. To believe on Jesus and not find any joy, or any peace, or any satisfaction in Him is not belief in Him so much as belief in a biblical doctrine. The Phillipian jailer was filled with joy - his belief was in Jesus. Elymas the sorceror "believed" according to Luke, but his joy was in money and fame. He certainly did not truly believe in Jesus.

We have to balance that with what is said elsewhere. That's something even Jesus did, refuting Satan during his temptation by interpreting one passage in the Bible with another part. The question is what does it mean to believe in the biblical sense, that's the point of this video. If it simply means to agree intellectually with a concept, then we have statements by Jesus, John, James, and so on that contradict that. It's similar to how the words translated 'mind', 'heart', 'love', etc. don't always mean the exact same thing they would mean in common usage in our culture - in fact that's usually not the case, but there often isn't a better word that is more fitting. So we need to see how the teaching of the entire Bible fits together in these matters, not take one isolated verse and run with it to the exclusion of the rest. That doesn't resolve all questions of course - that's never going to happen this side of heaven and on some matters, not even then - but it will get us much closer to the truth than 'proof-texting' on individual encounters.
The way Piper explains it would cause his own son to deny his own salvation. Piper convolutes maturity with salvation. I would say that all those things he said are true about many believers but they aren’t always true about every believer in every moment. Being satisfied in all that God is comes with maturing and growth. Piper makes this impossible.

But if we believe we should do works but also don't focus on doing works focus on believing in the risen savior and that his works done and you're going to heaven. This will make you want to do works because jesus loves you not because you're scared if hell. If you're doing works to try and appease God, trust me it won't work. You'll be in horror every day that you won't make it to heaven. This shows you truly haven't accepted Jesus as savior. I know I was this person. You most completely trust in Jesus. Trust that he has you, trust that he loves you, trust he died and rose again. You can't save yourself. You're unworthy, just rest on Jesus. I know it's not easy to believe, that's because you're dead in your sin. We are saved by grace through faith ALONE. I know it's hard to accept because we've had to work for acceptance our whole lives. But Jesus has already accepted you. I used to like listening to this guy, but he seems to make things more difficult everyday, he needs to self examine and stop looking at everyone else... i just repented and believed..the simple message of the gospel.

Because there's so many people that come at different angles with implication that is not his intention so he always moves towards being more thorough and specific. At least you got the repentance aspect right because many don't even subscribe to that.

Probably for the same reason that Paul wrote to the Corinthians to examine themselves. People being in a congregation doesn't make them believers. One would certainly hope and pray that most of them are, but it's entirely appropriate for believers to compare themselves to the gospel warnings of the bible.
