Wow. Didn't realize Father Jim wrote this that long ago! I remember singing this as a kid back at St. Alberts/Bishop McDowell School - at which parish he was a priest! I'm going through a very tough time right now, and I find this song helps me.
Brilliant duet! I love this piece. Our high school choir sang it back in the 80's. The choir sang the response/refrain, and a soprano and an alto sang the verses. I was the soprano soloist and descant. :) This would be ideal as a responsorial psalm at Mass (when an appropriate substitution is allowed). Chepponis seems to have had that structure in mind when he composed this piece.
Evelyn Milne Unless you have a natural high voice and or training, it's difficult and sometimes impossible to sing very high at a soft level. I thought they both did very well
Well, in this piece that may not be such a horrible thing. After all, this is the "Canticle of Mary", our Blessed Mother. I also think that some of the imbalance might be from mic positioning.
I remember playing this for a 40 hours closing of evening prayers on the first December Sunday - back in 1984. Sadly, the American Church now prefers music more becoming a liturgical hoe-down rather than that which is becoming and proper to the sacred rites.

Linda has the voice of an angel.
Lovely Duet of a beautiful psalm! Thank you for sharing!
Reminds me of singing this with my little sister. Lovely!
Lovely!! Sang this when I was a young adult at San Juan Bautista for Fr Patrick Dooling's ordination! Such fond memories!
Amazing talent !!
Dueto magnífico. Parabéns.

Doing it for 3rd Sunday of Advent this year.
She needs to hold back just a little, She is overpowering him.

She is way too loud. Lots of people do this in church singing.
If you can do a better job, I hope you are the first in line to join the choir and share your voice.
When you have a gift from God as she does, you can't suppress it.
