I mean, choc ripple cake is all about taste more than looks to start with, but I prefer to stack the biscuits horizontally when making it in a cake shape (as opposed to the classic roll). With this vertical method the biscuits are stacked at the same angle as you slice them, so you don't get that nice layered cross section you get when slicing the roll diagonally.
