Earning gold as a newer/midlevel player is rough, so this is very helpful! I just started buying those to prepare as I level (currently 83). Leveling horsemen teams (low priority), raid, dd, and CC teams all at once from g9-13 up to g15 alone consumes everything I have, and I have the next two months planned out for how my gold will be spent since I'm constantly starved.
If you think it’s rough as a new/mid level player, then you should quit now. It gets much worse when you get later into game. Never had issues with gold till I hit lvl 93ish.and sub 85ish, I had a 70m+ stockpile for first time in my game at 94 I have more training mats than gold.

I think you make an interesting point of leveling characters at 16 vice pushing to 17 & 18. It seems like we had this same conversation about 15 months ago when we struggled to push characters to level 15 and we kept most of our characters at 13. For most end game players we are in a teal crunch like we were in an orange crunch during that same time. I'm on the same page as you, pirchasing in the store is pointless and I only pick up uniques if it helps my characters for Big Apoc. Otherwise, I don't purchase every 8 hours. Have a Level 90 G16 characters is just fine in most of the modes in the game. Great video Boilon, keep it up.
I think the gold system needs a full rebalance personally but don’t know if I trust their team to do that properly.
You're probably not wrong.... but again they could botch things up.
They likely would mess it up worse. Added a post to the player voices discord to see what others think or suggest.
The gold economy is messed purposely to make us by it. They're not likely to change it without desperation.
great video! I'm personally focusing on one team to bring to G17, I am going for big boy apocalypse slowly (very very very slowly as I'm FTP). When the incursion raid comes around I will see what needs to be done. I find that most characters do what they need to do for me at G16, level 85. My alliance runs doom 3.4
I mean it's fine to do big apocalypse if you acknowledge that it's maybe not the best idea....
Personally, I don't believe it's a good idea but for others it may be their own goal they set for the game or whatever. My goal was the unlock which I obtained. I think there's largely no point to G17 characters if you don't plan to take them to G18.
@@Boilon I must admit that it's definitely not the best idea but I did rush and did upgrade certain characters already so I might as well go all the way...I mean I have SW done 🤦♂I do agree 100% that atm, it's pointless to G17 someone if you don't plan on maxing them later
Don't know if you mentioned it but you can also get 400 shard's each on AV,Morbius and echo node's

Solid video. Love some good spreadsheet work. Just further depressed me in confirming how little gold we get compared to our needs lol. I will say, I'm a bit surprised you pulled those Invaders so high this early. I can sim all three nodes of 3.5 with my 620k Invaders team (my NF is massive though, 7RS, 250k power). With that said, you're probably better situated moving forward.
Just so hard to know which heroes to prioritize. My motto is generally Level 75 for all the new heroes, to keep pace. Anyways, thanks for the content as always
Technically my Invaders that high has done nothing for my simming since I can't do the boss without Iron Fist lol. But, for sure you'll need them in the 90s range for higher Incursion Raid so might as well get it out of the way now to make room for newer characters later. Where your roster stands will depend a lot on how long you've been playing. Other than reworks I can usually focus on NEW characters specifically.
This is something I noticed a while back too, so I worked out a balance. I spend 1mil -1.5mil gold a day when the Milestones reset on leveling. I then allow myself about the sane to use un shops. So 3mil gold a day....seems to match my intake.
I am still 17ing my Horsemen. You are probably right it would make sense to start hoarding for what's next.....but I just don't care. Really hoping LotR: HoME isn't trash, and I'll slip into a retirement alliance with lite play

The long and short is this, set yourself a daily budget and stick to it
I'm comfortable spending around 2 million/day. Some days the shop eats it, other days someone gets a couple levels
Then you can afford days like today, today I unlocked IFWW2, leveled him to 80, gear 15, and blue iso 3
Total gold spent today: 11 million

Good point, I don't buy a ton from shop with gold. I have 30mil gold, 300 plus gold orbs on a 33mil TCP account. Training mats are a huge issue for me.

Yes I have been buying the gear 16 and 17 uniques every week cause I’m working towards dd5 but I’m low on gold, tho I’m close to gearing a bunch of characters to g16, can’t wait.
I only buy from the shop if I have a part less than 18 times, but I am still at below 35k gold, without any gold orbs. I reached level 95 yesterday (First in my alliance) but lack the Gold even getting my arena team up the last level (nearly 1million from 94 to 95 per character). I haven't had problems with training mats since reaching lvl 80. Your conservative 170k feels right in my case, because most of the time I get the minimum. When I opened 20 gold orbs for the event, I barely got over 3million total. Oh, and it's not like I put that much gold into raid or war teams, a lot of them are level 80. We also do Doom 3.3 (and 3.4 once a week), so gold income there is about the same. In addition in needing to level up certain characters, I also have 4 characters that I have enough shards to promote but also lack gold for. So gold has been a problem for me for a long time.
I noticed early on how expensive Orange and Teal are. For my daily i buy the green and any teal uniques that i need
Best way to get gold- Blitz. Just set a timer whenever you arent busy. Most weekends I get at least 6 rotations a day and this gets me a bunch of Blitz Orbs which have Gold in them. Its not a lot, but it gives extra Gold without spending money
i'm sitting at 80+ training orbs. Gold so much better on level toons imo as well. but i over invest and still spend 2 million a day. Best to use your 240 free energy on the gold farming nodes and other free energy on the gold one as well. i not framing the xp nodes anymore for now as i'm just farming the iron fist one. I only getting 450 from it until i unlock him but he will offer 1500 once you do have him.
If you need it use it. If not save it - i think this is a great vid for new players who might not be aware. I like to have enough materials for 2-3 character upgrades up to 15, so I'll spend any currency until i have about that much materials saved. after that i stop spending.
this is a total side note but i am starting to not understand why the stores just don't have all materials available. Sometimes i feel like we horde because we have no other choice. I have soo many raid credits that i would spend if i could actually select the materials i wanted to buy. It's been a month since I've seen a piece of Augmented SHIELD Tech for my Maria Hill...a MONTH on all stores that piece hasn't appeared.
I would not horde if things were more readily available to actually spend the currency. but anyways here we are, not hording because we want but because there really isn't anything to spend the materials on. at least for me.
total side note and a vent but - why cant we open teal raid orbs with raid credits? their fear of not allowing us to use the credits in some of the stores and putting everything behind a pay wall makes this game boring. It would make more sense to spend actual money if my effort in game was credited.
i spent all my War Elite credits and didn't get anything worth while, but i spent it because i need teal gear.
What's frustrating is that this game has many choke-points when trying to level up. it's gold, gear availability, training materials etc.

I buy almost every teal unique because I never know when I'm going to need it. G17 will be required at some point t, so I buy those too, but they are so expensive. I use a lot of CC credits on G17.
The gold crunch is real. It is shocking how much gold it takes to go from level 90 to 95. I have also shifted from buying the g17s in supply to leveling select toons to 95…and predictably I am low on gold as always.
yeah they basically added an extra 20% gold requirement from 90-95 without actually improving the rate at which we get it now.

I buy the mutant G17 minis because if you think that big Apocalypse is even remotely in your future, having two mutant horseman teams means that's going to be a big bottleneck.
The G17s are so rare that I still buy them, even tho I decided against going for Big Apoc. It helps set me up for the next big thing.
Once I get a certain amount stocked, I feel I can stop hoarding.
You won't really need that much when Incursion raids are around the corner and I think people really underestimate how much the flood gates will open. This was the same between Doom 2 and 3 with how many regular teal orbs were thrown out in Doom 3. They'll have tons of Teal Elites and a small amount of T18 orbs.
We're getting into 1 million gold per level territory per character. That's like 5 gold orbs minimum.
I get gold everyday with milestones and stuff the choke is training mats!
Video is old but people don't need to buy anything for G17 or G18 anymore. Really if you struggle it because you need a better alliance. And I would not still buy any of the G19 items and let it slowly grow overtime. I found the best way to save gold is to simply level your toons and gear them as you see fit. G16/G17 are so easy to get now although i will say G16 is now the new norm because when you used to make G15s it said it in the Alliance chat. Now whenever you make a G16 it appears in the Alliance chat messages lol. Any new characters released in this game though. Get to G15 right away 6/6/6/4 them and leave them sitting there or build them further if you want to. I found this is better if the devs force us to build and use these characters later. It cost about 4.5 million from lvl 1-70. Then you spend 2 days spending about 2+ million to make a 75 and lvl 80 for G15 of them. They be ready for anything they meant for at that point. Waiting at last min will do more harm than good
there were some good advices in your video, but regarding Rebirth I can tell you, that a 800k Team is doing very well in Doom 3.5. I can sim the standard nodes without problem. So right now, there is no need to level them up past Lv80, maybe Cap 85. You can actually save up a lot of gold, when you push your raid characters only as high as they are needed to be. So this also important, because they are not as good outside of raids. On the other hand, CC is quite competitive and the rewards are good. So I would prioritize that more. Wakanda I would not push right now, instead wait what Scopely is doing with them next crucible season.
Ughh how? My 880k rebirth all 85+ with agent venom at 94 and still can’t sim node 2.
@LTOZ crazy. Maybe your T4s and iso aren't right? Just a suggestion because I am about the same level and sim 3.4
I agree with LTOZ. My Rebirth is 900K, all T4s. I can't sim Node 2 60% of the time lol
You may say this is too much for doom raid but I am doing this in preparation of higher incursion raid, not for doom. So inevitably it will be required and to scale up towards 95 without a doubt. But I’m only putting gold in to characters that are most useful AND I have high star levels in to maximise the stat growth. I’m not interested in hardcore crucible so I will not be heavily investing here as there is no blue 5 rewards at this time.

I was already skipping GT17 but glad you told everyone else… BIG Apocalypse is not a priority for me I am waiting to see new teams coming and what is available and can and will be available for DD6
There is no way you can skip GT17 and do DD6.

I understand where you are coming from but to me it’s easier to level up a character then to gear them up. Regardless if you are going to go for big boy Apocalypse you are still going to need the gear
You will be in over abundance in that gear. You won't need to spend gold on it, and you'll be glad that you had all that extra gold.

I just do the ones related to cores, I believe this is like 1.05m I forget exactly but that's where I try to stop at where possible.
Wait in order to do the apocalyptic chapters for each horseman, each team needs to be at ISO L5?
Yes, every team needs to be gt17 to unlock heroic nodes for costumes. Then once all teams are done, you need iso level 5 all of the teams to enter the big boy unlock for Apoc.

No one talk about this but they definitely changed the gold orbs. I used to see some players in my alliance pull 2-3 million drops regularly. Now I only see 1s and much rarer.
They did change it ONCE in the games lifetime which is NOT enough lol.
Honestly, now that the monthly is giving fully crafted G17s, I don’t feel like buying the G17s is worth it. 2 months ago, I’d have argued about it 😂
I forgot about this, but you're right. I mean its only like 1 or 2 pieces, but in gold terms that's still a fair bit worth as well.
My personal recommendation on things like G17 minis is just to buy enough to maintain a minimum level of them (e.g., 300 of each type).
Yes, that can be expensive in the end for one character, but it hurts a lot less doing it over time than it would if you had to try buying them all at once. And you can never tell when something like G17 will be the limiting step for entering some event.
G16 hasn’t even been a limiting factor to enter events at this stage so I highly doubt that g17 would be. Though not surprised you’d think this way because Scopely does tend to be player unfriendly. That being said, people will have their own threshold to spending but when you break it down it’s a bit astonishing how much is used.
@@Boilon never put it past Scopely to require a rare resource to play in some new mode or event. Just because it isn't currently happening, doesn't mean it won't. 😏

I should probably not buy these anymore. I would spend like 1.5M per day in the store if that bio or mutant piece I need pops a bunch because I am trying to G17 those apoc teams. I need to cut back so I can put more gold into getting more raid characters from rebirth to 90 and maybe even bio avengers because I cannot do their nodes fully simmable due to most being 80 or 85.
This is probably why i have so many training mats and I am sitting on, after opening 150 of them for the recent event, still have over 550 training mat orbs.

I am terrible with managing my gold. Today I had 1.4 mil and I saw that I could take my Red Hulk from level 93 to 94. I couldn't resist because in my opinion RHulk is the best character in the game. It's a toss up between him and Kang. So now I'm basically broke again. I just can't help myself!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

@eckology016 apples and oranges. Dorm is a DD reward, apocalypse is a whole new thing amd we've seen Scopley making the lush for EXCLUSIVE in newer content. Guarantee the new DD will have a node that calls out gear 18 apocalypse specifically. Screen cap this
