To work in IB...It's like listening to Pink Floyd while riding unicycle on a very fast treadmill...backward. After it's passed, you will ask yourself and wonder how you pulled it all off...and all you can remember is seeing everything in pink...
hello matt, I am big fan of your youtube channel. I just have a quick question I am a first year student at a Canadian semi target and I am keen to join the high finance world not necessarily IB think (S&T, ER or Corporate Banking etc..) However, I am lost on when the recruiting actually begins in canada is it the same as the US?
I actually think for junior year internships that recruiting happens about a year in advance (I believe at the end of your sophomore year). FT recruiting is probably like July / August because it has to be after the internship ends. Not 100% sure though, I'd ask someone still in school.
For Canadian, there used to be a program by IB houses (BMO/Scot/GS) that is called Portfolio Management Foundation (PMF) or similar. Check out with your schools program director for internship availability and qualification.
It's probably the best of the Big 5 Canada banks. I'd still probably prefer to work at a global firm like GS or MS if you have the option because they still place a lot better and pay more.
I havE ESL and am not an English native speaker. However , I can speak both English and German and will be relearning Spanish soon. Do you think I still get a chance to be hired by prestigious companies ? I’m studying economics in my senior year at FU berlin and preparing my journey to be an IB. Still haven’t found my passion yet but it seems like I like accounting. Haha I’m just really not so confident with my English even thou I’m better than an average. I still feel intimidated speaking among natives.
It might make it slightly harder to convince interviewers that you legitimately want to do banking, but it's definitely possible. You'll probably have a better chance getting into technology roles too. I know several people who did CS and went into finance.
.Which one do you think is the best for exit oppurtunities into private equity ? (Current Scenario) 1) M&A Analyst at Elite Boutique IB 2) Leveraged Finance Analyst at Bulge Bracket IB ( Like J.P.M ) 3) Technology Analyst, who deals with [ all Product Groups at Bulge Bracket ] or Elite Boutique IB ( Qatalyst ) & .Which amongst above is best to stay permanently way until Director ? i.e The One which compensates most salary in case of permanent stay in IB. Please help me out with these two questions.
I think investors should always put their cash to work, especially In 2024, we'll start to see more market diversification. I'm hoping to invest about $350k of my savings in stocks against next year. Hope to make millions in 2024..
Since risk is at an all-time high right now, perhaps you should be a little more patient and return when it has decreased. Alternatively, you can consult a trained financial expert for strategy.
Yes true, I have been in touch with a brokerage Advisor. With an initial starting reserve of $80k, my advisor chooses the entry and exit commands for my portfolio, which has grown to approximately $550k.
Angela Lynn Shilling is the licensed advisor I use. Just research the name. You’d find necessary details to work with a correspondence to set up an appointment.

because from what I read interviews start for interns from Jan-Feb and FT analysts from Aug-Sept
5:41 How do you find out things like whether or not the company has balance sheet capacity etc? I’m not sure where to gather this kind of information
You can generally just Google for it. Or check a company's 10-K and see what management has to say about their business engine
This is insane timing
he definitely timed it on purpose lol
Hi what about the responses for the other questions - resume and why this firm?
Why this firm is in a different video. Walk me through your resume / other qualitative questions are covered in our IB course

What are your thoughts on RBC Capital Markets? Is this considered the premier investment bank in Canada?
It's probably the best of the Big 5 Canada banks. I'd still probably prefer to work at a global firm like GS or MS if you have the option because they still place a lot better and pay more.

Hello. Is your resume & cover letter course suitable for someone recruiting for an IB associate role?
Yes, I would say so. It has my IB analyst experience and my PE associate experience.
Hi 🤜🏾🤛
I’m a computer science major, does that matter to break into investment banking as long as I have the know how? Tia.

Technology analyst at a BB like GS or MS > M&A at an Elite Boutique like Evercore and Moelis > Qatalyst > the rest
What college did you graduate from for undergrad? Did you do your MBA anywhere as well?
