Ben is truly the most complex, beautiful character in Star Wars. It was heartbreaking to see him die as soon as he had his happy ending in his grasp. But I truly believe this is the highest act of true love anyone could show. He gave her the chance to live her life to do good. He knew she had family to go back to like Finn and Poe and the rest of the resistance. He had no one to go back to except her. He knew if he was going to give her back his life he had to give up his. But instead of dying he became one with the force - the highest honor of a Jedi. In the end he was a hero that brought peace to the galaxy and peace to himself. He in a way did get to spend the rest of his life with Rey...he got to be with her in the force. This is the most beautiful love story I’ve ever seen. Better than some of the princess fairy tales Disney has done. I can’t get enough of this.

Emma Beaumont I definitely see where you’re coming from. I personally believe that they both started to grow close to each other over the course of their force connections. They saw each other’s deepest hurts, desires, and saw each other as human for the first time in these connections. I think that is when they started to get hope for the other. I think it turned to love in the sense of sacrifice and wanting the other to be happy in a new peaceful time.

He did not deserve this end , he was worth a million more smiles and kisses like this after everything that he went through and I'm tired of this stupid trend giving sad endings to characters that have suffered enough already, it's not entertaining it's upsetting and depressing, life is already hard I don't need the same bullshit from fiction that I turn to escape the real world.

Yeah, it was a good and proper ending to the character, but some light sometimes would have been wonderful. Like, Vader also dies after his redemption, why not change that in here? Save the girl AND live! The script just needed some changes, is way too sad.
Ben became one with the force. He’s now eternal. I like to imagine that he is reunited with his family in the afterlife, kind of like Anakin and Obi-Wan in Return of the Jedi.

Sadly he couldn’t have lived. After all the terrible things he’d done previously, he would’ve either been hunted down by those wanting revenge or been punished severely by what will most likely become the new Republic. He could’ve have any other end, even though I and many others wanted and end with him and Rey together happy.

I keep remembering that the actors said both Ben and Rey were were very touch starved, so when I saw him holding her and then he pulled her close when she kissed him, it broke me a little. Cause he's been starving for this affection for so long and he knows this will be the only time he will experience it.

Kylo ren’s death hits differently
It's because he truly loved her. Because his whole life he was told what he should be and was scolded by Luke for his emotions and manipulated and beaten by Snoke for the same exact thing. This turned him into a selfish being only looking after himself, until Rey. She finally gave him something to fight for and he still didn't see he was so lost and selfish it was only after she showed him true kindness/forgiveness that he was able to understand this hence he went back to the moment he gave up on himself aka when he killed his father. This time he chose not to live for just himself but for Rey as well so when he was presented with the opportunity to truly do something good and honorable and noble he didn't hesitate. There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
Also, he got his happy ending to a life full of sorrow and literally, seconds later SECONDS. LATER. Died.
I cried in the theater when tony died but that was it. Bens death didnt completely sink in until i got home and could privately mourn. I've just been sitting in my bedroom crying over it for 3 days now. Shits really hitting me hard

Im so sad and so happy in the same time. A love that transcends physical boundaries and rules. I just noticed, in the end when Ben dies. Rey’s face twists into sorrow and grief for a moment but then her face cleared. Like there is something she realised in that moment. After all, to quote a certain Jedi Master „No one is ever truly gone“.
NiallandRoses I have a feeling that something doesn’t add up. First Lea’ a body disappears in the same moment when Ben’s does and after that on Tatooin he is not there. Where did he go? Is he with Rey? Inside her mind. After all they are described as a dyad- one soul in two bodies. So many questions? I’m going crazy. And no answers. I even consider leaving this fandom for the sake of my sanity 😰
Jedi’s when they die their body disappears and Jedi’s go to another place god knows where, but they are never really gone, so in some part of the galaxy Ben, Leia, Luke, Anakin, Obi wan... They’re all together.

I feel so silly being this heartbroken about a fictional characters death. As sad as it sounds i genuinely care about him more than some people i know in real life.
Same for me, as well. In the theater I was happy that Ben disappeared, at least, because that meant that they could be together and be happy eternally, but now I'm home and it's the next morning and after this video ended I bawled my eyes out and am still crying. I needed this to be able to greive properly.
Me, too. I was surprised at his sudden death and yet, knew it had to happen that way. But the grief hit me later and watching these videos helps.
I love the choice that they made to make him look more boyish in this scene. He has more of a look of innocence to him and it makes it so much sadder but beautiful in the context of his character.
I think their baby would have been the answer to the whole Star Wars Universe. That baby from a Sith bloodline and from a Jedi (Skywalker) bloodline would have been the absolute balance in the force. I am sad that we couldn't see the real Ben Solo and the fact that the ending was making no sence.. In my opinion the perfect ending would be them, living a happy life together with their baby who is the perfect balance in the force after all.

No force ghost at the end. World between worlds. Also there was no mourning scene: ROTJ had Luke burning Vader's armor, and TPM had a funeral for Qui Gonn. But nothing for Ben. This is quite a vague death as far as Star Wars goes.

Ben changed, through the power of love from his parents, Leia Organa and Han Solo, and his beloved Rey. Love is the most important thing in Star Wars, and the force will be with them always.
The movie left me sad. Rey was the only one other than his parents who would love him...but only as Ben, the man Kylo buried beneath hate. Glad he had a moment of love from the woman that haunted his dreams for so long...
I couldn't handle this ending it broke me too much so I wrote an alternate ending to help me cope

I awaken to find myself in bens arms. He feels so warm and full. Ive never felt him this way before. As he stares into my eyes I feel the force pulling us closer. I look around remember what we had just accomplished. All the hardships and destruction we had just overcome. We did it. We had won this war. Together. Kylo was dead. Palpatine was dead. Finally everything had come to peace. The first order, the final order. It was over. The resistance had won.
I smile at Ben and glance at his lips and look back to his eyes and see his eyes. I can just feel that he sences the same thing I am. In that moment I give up. All that time I had spent resisting what the force was brining me too. I was done resisting. I had Ben. My Ben. I jump into his embrace and slam my lips into his. I feel him kiss me back. The energy around us sparking. Reassuring me this is where I'm meant to be. I'm meant to be here. With him.
I pull back and put my forehead against his. We stare into each others eyes searching for our thoughts and our future. The corner of his lips start moving and he smiles.
We stand and embrace in a hug. His big strong arms holding me tight into his warm body. I reach around his neck and grab his hair. His hair was soft and fluffy. I hold on to him placing my head in the crook of his neck. I can feel his arms wrapping around my waist and resting them there.
I think to myself after all of this time, this is what I had been looking for. Have been fighting for.
Ben moves his lips to my hear and I can hear his breath shake.
"My love, it's time. Everything now makes sence. We were meant to be here, in this time, this space."
I nod my heart pounding with every whisper.
He pulls away and picks me up carrying me bridal style. The same way he has carried me the first time we met.
He carries me off into the distance torwards the ship. As we walk, we feel the hardships and pain just sink away from us. We are walking torwards our new future. Where we both will be happy and thrive together.

At least he died as Ben Solo and not Kylo, he rose. He threw the lightsaber, the dark side is what held him. But just an act of kindness from Rey and to see his father, he understood that finaly Kylo was dead. Ben solo resurfaced.

I bet it’s gonna change my life cause I’ve been not myself and stuck in depression (you could say that’s the dark side) and seeing Kylo say “I know what I have to do but I don’t know if I have the strength to do it” and then succeeding and letting go of the darkness in him. For those who say it’s glorifying “abusive relationships” they missed the point completely, Rey fell in love with Ben not Kylo, which is why she didn’t take his hand in the last movie but does in this one, she wanted to take Bens hand, she saw Ben she saw past the brainwashed darkness of Kylo and saw the real him, Ben💜

Look at it from this side. He is finally free, he died in peace with himself. He's been inward conflicted since the very beginning, forced to be what others pushed him to. He was so lost throughout the whole trilogy, the little certitude he had in his dark calling was shaken with Rey's appearance, his soul - completely torn apart by his father's murder and his inability to reconnect with his mother, the betrayal and uncertainty he constantly felt as well the need to prove himself. In the end he forgave himself, people may never forget Kylo Ren's actions, but Ben's guilt was no longer present. His spirit rose and his relief is visible not only in his appearance, but in his fighting style and his manners too. He finally found his purpose in the face of his soulmate. So, at last he was no longer suffering, he is now one with the Force and reconnected with his family and his death is certainly not in vain.

The constraint that they exercised between them was powerful. It made the first but final kiss that much sweeter and incredibly sad.
Han Solo's scene was my favourite part of this movie. Ben was my favourite character in the Sequels and although I was gutted that he died I'm still satisfied with his story, a perfect redemption story. He really did finish what Anakin started.
He’s now happy with his mom and dad reunited, and their baby boy is now back from the darkness.

I choose to believe that Ben isn’t dead. I’m still on denial. I think Ben was one of the best characters. I have this burning love for his character. He was so full of hate and then when he realized what he was feeling and he realized he was just in pain and anger, that he didn’t have to be evil to deal with it. He could go to others and love others to help that pain. It’s so SO sad that he only got to live that relief for such a short moment because just think of the things he could have done with all of his power now on the right track. Ben was an amazing character and it’s still so sad to think that he’s dead.
At least he died happy and with someone he loved
