"Doctor Louis Creed moves his family to Maine, where he meets a friendly local named Jud Crandall.
After the Creeds' cat is accidentally killed, Crandall advises Louis to bury it in the ground near the old pet cemetery. The cat returns to life, its personality changed for the worse.
When Louis' son, Gage, dies tragically, Louis decides to bury the boy's body in the same ground despite the warnings of Crandall and Louis' visions of a deceased patient."
Can we be honest with ourselves here, getting killed by a toddler even if demonically possessed is still an embarrassing way to go

That's the point. It was a demon inside of Gage and it ambushed jud.
You do realize that Wendigos are way stronger and smarter than an average human being, right? It can easily manipulate Jud or anyone for that matter. Doesn’t matter if they are a toddler, they are still stronger than an adult. You gotta keep in mind that Wendigos have lived for hundreds of years. It was so smart, that it knew were Louis kept his scalpel. Gage couldn’t possibly know that. He was way too young. So, it’s not totally Jud’s fault that he got ambushed considering there was 2 Wendigos in that room - Gage and Church.

After getting ran over by a semi Gage only has a scar on his forehead. You would've thought he'd be broken and mangled.

The burial ground probably fixed his body. In the book his body was mangled though.

Chaos Afterlife no, jud showed him the burial ground so louis could bury the cat, not his son. and jud did it because he thought he owed it to louis for saving his wife. jud warned louis about burying someone up there and said not to do it. but louis still did it anyways out of grief, he wanted his son back. i’d still blame some of it on louis for not listening to jud.
Is God fault for creating them
I was ten years old when this movie came out. I will never forget this scene with the cut ankle, and yes I’m almost 40! One of the best horror movies ever!

When this movie came out in 1989, I went to the movies with my mom, and she wanted to see it (she liked horror movies). She seriously asked me if I wanted to see it too. I was only 7 years old! Thankfully, I saw 'Honey I Shrunk the Kids' while my mom saw this. I'm glad I did. This movie would have messed me up bad.

As horrifying as this was in the movie, it was way more horrifying in the book. Gage starts cussing Jud, calls Jud's Wife, Norma, a "whore" and insinuates that she cheated on Jud with his friends and that Jud also cheated on her. He also makes fun of the fact that Norma died (earlier in the book). Gage is talking in different/demon voices. I especially like that Gage/the Wendigo demon references the events with Jud, his buddies, and their experience with the Wendigo demon when it was inhabiting Timmy Baterman's corpse all of those years ago..if I remember correctly, the Wendigo demon tells Jud "you fucked with me years ago and now I'm going to fuck with you before I kill you." or something very similar along those lines.
In the book, Gage is described as kinda awkward, and sorta clumsy/unstable because the Micmac burial ground pretty much reconstructed parts of his body back together and parts of his body, mainly his head had been sewn/stitched back to his body by the morticians after he was killed and really torn apart and decapitated and drug on the road by the Orinco truck. In fact, his clumsiness and such is how Louis is finally able to overpower him to get to the point that he can inject Gage with a huge overdose of morphine. Gage's hair was dirty and a complete mess. His face was horrifying and messed up even after the morticians tried to make it look better. It was so bad that when Louis dug him up, he vomited after he opened the casket and saw Gage. One of Gage's eyes would kinda drift off on it's own sorta like a lazy eye. And Gage also had a distinct smell after he came back..I can't remember how the smell was described but it's how Jud knew Gage/the Wendigo was back because he remembered smelling the same thing during he and his buddies' confrontation with Timmy Baterman/the Wendigo demon all of those years ago.
The book version of Gage was far more horrifying, terrifying, and much more scarier in appearance, voice, and behavior than the 1989 version of Gage and the 2019 version of Ellie. Hell, after he killed his Mom, Rachel, in the book, it's insinuated that he had been eating on her throughout the night when Louis finds her dead body. It's nightmare fuel stuff.

It's been a LONG time since I've read the book or seen the original movie, but did Judd's wife die somehow and did Jud bury her in the pet Sematary also? If so, did she come back to life and kill someone, but somehow Jud killed her again? Is that why Jud gave Louis the idea to do that for his son?
Sorry for the late reply, but Norma is never resurrected. But he DOES tell Louis about Timmy Baterman and how the burial ground compels you to use it, even when you know you shouldn’t.
Also in the book, Louis helps save Jud's wife when she has a heart attack. So Jud probably showed Louis the Pet Cemetery after Church died as repayment.
Jud claims he told Louis about the Micmac ground because he wanted to repay him for saving his wife Norma’s life. But the real truth is that the burying ground influenced him to share the secret with Louis. And the burying ground most likely caused the deaths of both Church and Gage.

It fucking disturbed me the way gage talked and creepily taunted kid with his knowledge of his wife’s infidelity and how jud had killed him in a way by introducing Louis to the sematary

Miko did it himself...likely with guidance from the director. He was a brilliant child likely with a high IQ and was one of the busiest child actors of the late 80s and early 90s.

You can do that in a book because you the reader have a more vivid imagination than most filmmakers in Hollywood. But, if you try this on film? The MPAA will shut you down.

Wrong. Fred Gwynne was great. Check out My Cousin Vinny. And The Munsters was kind of lame writing and a ripoff of the Adams Family, but he was great within its limitations.

No but I was born in 87 and when the movie came out my Mom had to leave the theatre because I looked alot like Gage and also had a big vocabulary for being so small. Me and him could have passed as brothers and we also lived in a farm house in northern IL on a road that had grain trucks and semis flying down it. When Gage got hit and Lewis said NOooOOoooOo my mom grabbed my Dads and and said "Don I cant do this were leaving right now".

The part that creeps me out is that since Gage is so little, it's hard to predict where he's coming from. Also, the amount of places the people Gage murdered had to hide in didn't help any.
