Maestro .. I hope that you’re doing well .. I haven’t seen a new video in so long that I’m wondering if there may be a problem. I was so hoping to see you complete the Pochette…

Hi Maestro, just wanted to add mine to the other well wishers here! Hoping you are well, and less importantly, that you return to RUclips soon!

Hi, why did you choose to repair with white glue instead of boneglue?

What a tragic damage! I'm very curious how it will sound after the whole repair is done. The upper block surprised me when you took the top off. Beautiful work in getting the top in one piece, Maestro!

Be really good to see a neck reset video Maestro. I particular the process of removing the neck :-)

You can use a vacuum cleaner with a small nozzle to suck the glue through the cracks.

I love your, very special, splitting/old butter knife.🤣✌👍👍
I'm also a bit tickled, seeing you cut your auto washing
sponges, into 4 usable size pieces, like I do. 👌👌😁
I started cutting mine like that about 45 years ago.
Using the model airplane plywood is really great: no single grain, to be
concerned about and you turn it 45 degrees, to the crack, which makes it even stronger. 👍👍👍

I am currently repairing a violin top and have added my cleats, which are now shaved down. What are your thoughts on coating them with a very thin layer of either hide glue, or varnish, to keep the cleats from drying out? Thanks for your time :)

While I am not the maestro, allow me to say, it has not been a problem, for the
past 400 years, so there is no foreseeable reason it should be one now. 😁✌🖖

Do you use 1mm or 2mm model airplane plywood? 1mm for violin and 2mm for cello? Or just 1mm for violin and cello?

    • @maestrokimon
      @maestrokimon  Год назад +1

On flatter surfaces, I use 1mm and on curved like the ribs I use 0,6mm

For cello with such quality, I would seriously question whether it is worth repairing.

    • @zapa1pnt

Any instrument is worth repairing, if that is what the customer wants.
An old fiddle, worth no more than $20, can be worth $300 in repairs, if it belonged to someone's grandfather. 😁✌🖖
